  • It's time to raise some Cactus Babies as we mill, discard, and sacrifice our deserts for our benefit. These upgrades take the 'Lands Matter' theme of the deck and helps push it along a little better than what was included in the deck.

Great upgrade guide! I hadn't looked at the OTJ Commander decks until you posted this video. I have a soft spot for lands decks so I might want to give this commander a go!

Glad you liked it. I try to do upgrade videos for the precons as they come out for each set. This one I like since it's outside of Jund or mono-green as a lands deck, so there's more space to experiment with and could even allow you to tap into whites token doublers if you really wanted to push the tokens on Yuma harder.

Glad you liked it. It's the first time I've done them like this in a video and it seems to be the one I'll stick with after past experiments.

Nice upgrade guide! What do you think of Zuran orb? It’s dirt cheap, costs 0 mana, and gives a great way to repeatedly sac lands, meaning we can always choose to sac our deserts, especially if we can’t get attacks in with Yuma. Milling is great since we need to have the cost reduction in Yuma, but we never really get to choose what we mill (meaning sometimes we don’t hit any deserts and don’t make any plant dudes). I’m not sure how expensive it will be, but I also think the new card “Annie Joins Up” (I think that’s what it’s called), would also be great, doubling all of Yuma’s abilities. I guess we’ll have to see how expensive it is once the set comes out, because preorder prices tend to be gross.

Orb would be good here. Annie Joins Up would be too and at least right now, it's only preordering for around $4-$5. Likely due to it being color locked so hard, but would be great here as well.

Why primal vigor over parallel lives, or ixilan white god?

Cost, mostly. I've had several comments about the cost of the decks I've shown so now I usually try for a more budget friendly "first recommendation" then I do some pricier upgrades at the end of the video for those interested in the higher power/costlier options.

@@twilightscallmtg thats fair. Although, I should point out that both primal vigor and doubling season are partially wasted here, since the deck doesn't utilize counters very much.
Parallel lives last I checked is roughly the baseline ability we'd probably want here, with the white triplers as the upgrade

I still like Into the Wilds from M14 for land decks, 3G enchantment, at the beginning of upkeep look at the top card of your library, if its a land you can put it on the battlefield. Might not be a good fit for this deck though, or maybe just kind of slow

Nothing wrong with it depending on power level of your pod. I'd run this in a medium powered setting. Possible switch out for Azusa if you don't have one. I think the results would be pretty close over the course of a game.

@@twilightscallmtg also centaur vinecrasher for plant tribal, benefits from lands in graveyard and can recur itself, also still dirt cheap $ wise
