For the people complaining about the price: why don't you come by San Francisco and try out Saison, a 3 Michelin-Starred restaurant that has a tasting menu starting at $368? Its only $600 more for wine pairings.
Point is: this is dirt cheap, beyond dirt cheap for this caliber of food. I'd go twice a month if I could.

good for me I'm not american then, I can enjoy a 1 star 7 course meal with meat and fish for only about 20$ more...and a 3 star for quite less than that san francisco thing... considering the amount of food available in the us, prices are just too high...

The thing about fine dining tasting menus is that all the foods have great presentation and they usually don't taste the way you assume they would. There's an element of surprise to it and it's usually an adventurous experience because you eat foods you normally would never come across. You will be full by the end of the dinner. This is also another problem, people don't understand that being "full" is already overeating. Eating enough is right, being filled up is wrong.

It looks beautiful and tasty, but this does point out the New York price premium, and the extent to which hip high end places are getting somewhat divorced from reality. I went to Zahav in Philly this week, which certainly seems to tick all the fine dining boxes-James Beard award winning chef with a hit cookbook, media buzz, and most importantly unique, beautifully composed, and delicious food, etc. Their multi-course option gets you probably the best hummus I have ever had with baked to order flatbread, six small composed salads, two mezze (things like seared duck heart with almonds, spring onions, and coffee or Tuna Tartare with shishito labneh, artichoke, and spring onion), a grilled item with pilaf (I got sirloin with oyster mushroom and baba ganoush), and a spectacular desert from an also James Beard awardee pastry chef. I left exceedingly happy and quite full.
That was $45-which, it needs be said, is *still a lot* for one person's dinner before tax, tip, and any alcohol is included. That's a special occasion meal that most people would have to stretch a bit to afford. If something that costs $20 more than that is being lauded for being affordable, that may be a sign that the current intense focus on tasting menus as *the* expression of great food is alienating more and more of the population. I get that it's a great showcase for chefs' talents, and that not everything needs to be accessible to everyone, but this is catering to the rich in a way that makes the days of a focus on $30 entrees feel downright egalitarian.

I don't get people who come to these videos and complain about a 70 dollar tasting menu being overpriced compared to a 3 dollar burger that can 'fill you up'. It's like comparing a 70 dollar game like Mass Effect that people play for around 50 hours to an absolutely free game like Dota 2 that the average player enjoys for around 2,000 hours. Sure the cheaper alternative has more value, but I've never met a person who wished that they had less variety in the video games they played. Same goes for food... unless they're just jealous that they can't afford it.
