Eating at Contra. NYC. $110 Michelin Starred Tasting Menu

- I have dinner and review the restaurant Contra on the Lower East Side of New York City. The establishment serves affordable a la carte offerings, but also has one of the cheapest Michelin Starred tasting menus in the city, which was 6 courses with bread when I had it. I also make a stop at Prince Street Pizza to eat their famous pepperoni slice.

Yeah man, I don't even tell too many people it's my birthday. I appreciate your content, because you visit so many restaurants I barely have been to. Michelin star restaurants are usually pricey and a big guy like myself would absolutely head to the pizzeria afterward! But I'd gladly pay just to see how the present the dishes...its kinda like going to an art museum and getting some food at the same time.
Thanks! I know what you mean. The price tag is the worst part of most Michelin places (plus the small portion sizes), but yeah, it’s an experience and an art. At the same time, I just love variety. Even though fine dining is nice, sometimes all I want is a burger, a slice of pizza or a plate of pasta. So it was kind of nice to have the best of both worlds in this video, an elegant restaurant and Prince Street Pizza.

Happy birthday! I went to this place almost a year ago (you knew) and I still haven't got the chance to make this video because the audio environment was so bad and I was having trouble cleaning it. You ended up being faster! Also, the place is really dark and really small it's hard to shoot (you probably can tell as well).
Thanks! I know exactly what you mean! I figured pretty quickly I would just be doing voice overs for the video since the music was so loud. But the worst part, especially with my camera, was the lighting. The footage of the food I took worked out since I was able to light it up with my phone, but the shots of me eating look terrible. Sometimes my camera had trouble focusing since it was so dark. Still, it was a good dinner. I definitely enjoyed it!

What really sucks is that they have closed permanently last year. I never got to try any of their dishes. 😢

@@Jamesnu In all honesty which cuisine is your favorite? Also which was the best Michelin Restaurant and what was the most tastiest and memorable dish? As a child my mom took me to Mesa Grill by Bobby Flay in union square and it was a 5 course meal it was good lol
@@lemababi3 I don't know if I can narrow it down to just one cuisine, because I just love variety so much. I do have a particular fondness for Spanish and Italian cuisine, but there's just so many amazing things to eat in this world. Le Bernardin was probably the best Michelin starred restaurant that I've ever been to, but I also really like Blackbird in Chicago, which has sadly closed. As far as most memorable dish. That's a tough one too. I could probably list 100! Haha! That must've been a great experience to eat at Mesa Grill, I wish it was still around, it looked amazing!
@@Jamesnu I've lived here all my life and I've seen so many restaurants come and go ... I definitely like Asian Fusion cuisines and I have to try French.... although I never really thought to. I definitely got to look up Blackbird and their chefs to see what they moved on to. You can travel to Vegas to try Mesa Grill, or go to Atlantic City to try his Steak restaurant or Gato here in the city. It was so good I still remember it lol. I am a Master Chef fan nowww. But thank you so much for your response!
@@lemababi3 Thanks for watching my videos! That's true, I forgot that there's a Mesa Grill in Vegas. I actually considered going there on my last visit to the city. I haven't been to Atlantic City yet, but I'll definitely have to go sometime.

Wow!!!!! Is this a joke??????? Crappy measly portion, overpriced food. I wouldn't waste my time using their bathroom, they probably charge you for the toilet water.
