  • In this episode I review the E-Autogrilles Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier for TJ and YJ Jeep Wrangler after 1 year of ownership. The design has changed slightly on the tire carrier which may affect the jerrycan mounts and will defiantly affect the storage pouch.

    Yes this video was posted just 1 day after I posted the Install Video however, I have owned it for a year. It just took me that long to finally edit and post the video.

    I have been looking to replace my stock YJ tire mount for a while now, this review convinced me that this is the right product and I don't have to be a master welder/mechanic to make the swap. I especially appreciate the 1yr follow-up, I can get around the fuel fill issue. I need to get this done, my rear gate is actually causing damage to my tub due to the weight of my spare. So again a HUGE thank you! Purchase completed, now I wait on Amazon.

      My tailgate was beginning to sag and then the rust on the tire mount was the final kicker for me. I hope you like it!

      @@MotorMaintenance I was finally able to dedicate some time yesterday to installing this bumper upgrade. I think they have made some improvements FWIW, they now have multiple height options, the swing arm doesn't cover the license plate (and subsequently the gas cap). Like you I am not running huge tires, so the lowest option worked just fantastic for m and it actually improved my rear-view since it dropped my tire by several inches. I will shoot some pics and connect them if you would like.
      Thank you again for this tutorial and follow up, it made the decision to purchase much easier!

    Great to the point video, what kind of recovery bag is that? Is it rugged ridge?

    • @MotorMaintenance
      @MotorMaintenance  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for you comments! Yes it is a Rugged Ridge ( www.amazon.com/Rugged-Ridge-12801-50-Carrier-Recovery/dp/B003KR3GJW ) It wont work with the redesigned EAG Bumper though :(

    Im almost convinced!!!! How big of a tire do you have on it? I have 37s and kinda scared of the weight but with all that extra stuff on there it looks pretty solid. Also does the piece that pivots go all the way through the bumper or just mount to the top of the bumper?

    • @MotorMaintenance
      @MotorMaintenance  Před 4 lety

      So i run 30" tires but there is plenty of room for a 37", I believe the pivot point is welded on both sides, i know the d-rings are. I'm going to check that right now for you.

    • @MotorMaintenance
      @MotorMaintenance  Před 4 lety

      It is not thru; the pivot is welded to a plate, the plate is welded to the bumper and inside there are 2 gussets in the same area.

    • @joshadams2148
      @joshadams2148 Před 4 lety

      @@MotorMaintenance ok thats almost as good. Those gussets are strong. Thank you for checking.

    Mine is so stiff I can’t barely close it and It moves the whole Jeep. Hasn’t always been like that. I don’t see where I can grease it though. Do you just open the cap up and fill that and it finds its way in or what?

    • @MotorMaintenance
      @MotorMaintenance  Před 3 lety

      Mine came with a grease nipple that threaded into the cap. I also added some grease when I installed it.

    I think i want to get this for my tj and im looking at jerry can mounts. Where did you get those from? Also would this fit a 33 inch tire with 15 inch wheels

    • @MotorMaintenance
      @MotorMaintenance  Před 3 lety

      I believe these are the ones I have www.amazon.com/Hooke-Road-Gallon-Holders-Wrangler/dp/B07JFY98TR/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=jeep+tire+carrier+jerry+can&qid=1611178671&sr=8-4
      I know i got them on Amazon and they should still work with the new design. The tire carrier will defiantly work with 33's as for the jerry cans I'm not sure, Jones Edition posted a video with his TJ and the new design, check that out here... czcams.com/video/Pjqt0KeDyk8/video.html

    O have a similar one for the my tire and I have to close it holding it up until I latch it, if not it won't line up correctly
