Greece is 80% mountains and 16.000km of crystal clear coastlines. Greece therefor has many mountains rising from the sea. And Greece has many stone types, and some are softer. And these softer stone types dissolve more into the sea, which by the way is also one of the 2 most salinity rich in the world among the big seas and oceans. The Red Sea and East Mediterranean has highest salinity and minerals. But in Greece some stone types dissolve more or differently into this seawater, generating crazy crazy blue waters.
    Like in Egremni.
Also. This also will tell another story. Greece has some of the cleanest rivers in Europe with some arguably taking top spots like Voidomatis, Acheron river and others all from the mountains. In fact Greece has won numerous times the best bottled mineral waters in the world. Like from Theoni from Crete and other onea from Central Greece from these mountaina where these rivers flow out to also.
And the argument here is the same. That the rivers get these wonderful properties and colors becayse of the stone and soils dissolving into the rivers. That also explains the mineral properties of these waters.
For example. In Norway there is also plenty of mountain territory, but have more granite type rocks also. And granite is the hardest rocks.and therefor dissolve way less. All rocks are hard obviously. But for the world of rock types Greece has more softer types which is part of the magic that creates Greeces waters and rivers

Sappho was the greatest poet of antiquity. She lived on the island of Lesvos and dedicated her life to the protection of young girls who had lost their parents or who were abused. She dedicated most of her poems to these young girls, showing the love and devotion they lacked, while her home became the asylum for these young women. At that time, all famous people together with their name also carried their place of origin (city or region). Sappho was known as: "Sappho the Lesbia" because of the name of the island of Lesbos. When in the Renaissance Westerners discovered the poems full of love and passion for young girls, they considered these poems "indecent", due to the religious fanaticism of the time, without anyone mentioning that her great love was the - also a great poet - Alkaios . So over time and up to our time, every homosexual woman is called a lesbian! This is an insult to the greatest poetess of all time.

I don't think we have enough information to speculate about the sexuality of any of the great people of the past (especially that most of her work disappeared)..
But I certainly don't see the term lesbian as an insult to anybody... If the LGBTQ community wants to embrace her as an icon, I don't see a problem with that...
