Easily the most useful tutorial I've come across -- you get straight to the point with no useless information and accompany each tool with a practical demonstration in it's use. I wish more CZcamsrs would follow your lead.

I would like to extend a thanks for your time in explaining whats needed. I just purchased a 27sq foot piece of 10 to 12 oz leather. I will be making custom holsters for handguns, magazine pouches, knife sheaths, and belts. The tool sets are very expensive. Just needed a basic set to start with. You have done a fantastic job of showing this.

Ian, you have the best instructional leather working videos on CZcams. I am brand new to all of this, and have tried watching some of the videos on the Tandy Leather channel. After two or three minutes, I am in serious need of a wet rag to wipe the blood out of my eyes. George Hurst has no business in front of a camera. Thank you for uploading these. For a newbie like me, you make things easy to understand and entertaining. Keep up the good work!

Excellent, thanks Ian! I'm going to be mostly watching your videos over the next couple of days, they're the best videos I've seen for someone like me, and I can't do much else anyway as I went and broke my leg the other week.
The information is perfect for me, I've become obsessed with leather working after recosntructing a belt and an old biker waistcoat. I've got some tools but now I know what I actually do need! Yay!
    Have a good day!

If the cost of traditional leather knives is a bit high, you can stick with your utility cutters but improve their performance dramatically by sharpening them. It is easy with 1200 grit wet & dry abrasive paper on a sufrace that has a little give like neck or belly leather. Drag it over the abrasive at a low angle until the shoulder is gone then remove the paper and strop on the leather with a little metal polish like autosol or driglo. The cost is very small for a great edge. Regards

I don't know, I just use a Tandy poly mallet. I think the weight it more important for tooling where you're going to be holding up a maul and using it repeatedly for long periods of time which isn't really a beginners thing. For punching out holes or setting rivits as long as the mallet gets the job done I wouldn't worry too much about the weight.

I have seen this type of portfolio plastic sandwich website for portfolios and its what I want to base it on. The leather needs to be 3mm thick (ish) brown and very clean from scratches and marks etc. Can you recommend any where in the Uk I can buy this type of leather or hides??
    Kind regards
