A Novelty Gold Plated Quarter

I was a coin show recently and I purchased 6 novelty quarter coins that were gold plated. Each cost me $2.00. I am facinated with these quarters and I want to hang onto them for eye appeal. They are worth face value, and they beautifully decorated with fake gold and the color white on some of them. They are a conversation piece and that's why they are in my collection. I know they are worth face value. They have PMD after they left the mint and were transformed into fake gold coins to sell to some unsuspecting buyer, or that's why I think they were created.

Those are neat looking coins, and add to a collection... just for their eye appeal.
I bought a gold plated Kennedy for melt and a small premium a few years ago. I knew it wasn't solid gold, and it doesn't have near the luster your coins do, but there is something still very interesting about it. I didn't know if the Mint did this, but it sounds like they probably didn't.
