The B-2 Spirit deserved so much more than a mere passing mention.
The Germans made a plane in WWII the Horten Ho 229 looks very much like a B-2 Spirit based on a flying wing
B-2 spirit doesn’t do anything besides look intimidating because it can’t operate anywhere in the world where it might be tracked by foreign built radar which would give enough information to China and Russia to build counter measures against its stealth capabilities, the B-1 is so much more capable at doing strategic bombings anyways

These aircraft are old, but their age is deceptive. The weapon systems in them are very modern. Military aircraft continually get upgrades, so while the air frame designs have seen a lot of years, the tech on the inside is up to date. They are still very capable on a modern battlefield.

MOAB is an air burst bomb. "Massive Ordinance Air Burst." It detonated before it hits the ground to create a massive pressure wave to get everyone above ground. It's different from the "bunker buster" bombs that go deep underground.
was just about to post something similar to this. the MOAB has a blast radius of over 1 mile and blast yield force of 11tons of TNT. if he wants to see the big boy "bunker buster" then check out the MOP Massive Ordinance Penetrator a 30,000lbs bomb. those are the 2 largest non-nuclear bombs currently in the US arsenal.

Our mortar platoon had a 4.2 in. HE with an "Airburst fuse" that was adjustable from 20 to 50 ft. We used it for "enemy in the open" situations, very effective.
You need to check out the SR-71 "Blackbird". Trust me you are going to love it!
I saw one at a red flag at Nellis... he did a fly by and hit the afterburners over the flight line... it was just gone ... But I'll say this .. the F111 is a bad ass too.
I worked on the C-130 production line in Georgia and the plane has been extensively upgraded over the years: digital control panel with updated avionics, state-of-the art turboprop engines with composite propellers, and available missile defense systems. Comes in different fuselage lengths for different missions and is built in different configurations for tactical airlift, refueling, combat search and rescue, electronic warfare, and ground attack.

A 3 ship formation of B-52s, each dropping 108 500 lb bombs on the same target has to be seen to be believed. There are no words to describe it. The dust clouds can rise to thousands of feet depending on the weather and can be visible for over an hour. I was on a Destroyer off the coast of Viet Nam and saw the aftermath of countless B-52 strikes and one morning before dawn we saw an actual strike so close to the beach we saw all 324 bombs flash as they hit the ground. We were about 6 miles off the beach. When the concussion hit our bridge it broke many welded brackets loose that held huge wiring looms and electrical panels to the bulkhead which fell off onto the deck around us. We couldn't believe what just happened. You wanna be as far away from a B-52 strike as you can get.
My family and I have all worked for NASA and Lockheed in Skunkworks. My father worked for skunkworks for 35 years, and my brothers and I are working on the Artemis rocket in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I lived in Louisiana here in the United States and the a10s would fly over every day from an air force base. They would come by and I would wave and they would wave back at me as they were flying over. Fantastic aircraft!

You may want to check out some of the footage of the "Mach Loop" in Wales. The Mach Loop is a low altitude flight path for military aircraft to practice. Everything from F-35s, Osprey, and C-130 Hercules transports make low altitude runs through the narrow valleys there. There are always a lot of cameras there to catch this from viewing areas. Many of the videos are short, lack commentary, and just show great planes flying low and close. So it may be worth queuing up a few. A search will net you a lot of hits and I can't recommend any one video over another. It is the closest to an airshow experience you can get on your computer.
I have 2 brothers one is 6yrs older than me and my younger brother is 3yrs younger than me. Both of them served in the USA Air Force. They both were airmen on the B52 bomber and they were tail gunners but in different years. I glad you like these videos. Myself I was a firefighter in my hometown.
The Hercules used to fly over my grandmothers house. They were so low you could see who was wearing sun glasses and who wasn't.
If you ever come to the United States, make sure you plan your trip to come to one of our air shows. You will be able to walk inside and actually touch these aircraft that you are watching on this video. Even watch them fly and do their maneuvers. I was part of the air crew for the f-14 tomcat. My squadron was VF-101 Grim Reapers.
Air and space museum in Dayton Ohio is amazing as well.
The Dayton and Edwards Air Force base are the two best with Pensacola just behind both of those.
Doesnt matter which air and space museum, but i think for the most part, all of us in here agree thats a thing to add to a trip list.

You don't need to keep reaching for the mouse to pause, or go forward or backward in videos. Space bar pauses and un-pauses the videos, the left arrow rewinds by 5 seconds, and the right arrow key skips ahead 5 seconds.
Exactly, using the left arrow once, after pausing, would work so well for reactors, to not miss things.

You notice that the planes overall are looking more and more like birds themselves. Also there is new testing on wing designs based upon the old biplane double wings. Seems to be stronger and even more maneuverable than single wing designs. Stepping backwards to move forward.
Good boy! Worried about his sister. That's awesome. I think I mentioned before. I live next to an F-35 base, not a fan of their noise. There is F-18s here also, but the 35 is just to load and they always wait until the best part of the movie, you know. Right when we are about to find out who did it.... I get buzzed. ;P
I am retired and I can go fly the F-18 simulator anytime, but the F-35 is still classified. I'm not even allowed to look at it.... well, okay, I can look, but not touch. ;P
I'm biased, I like the F-14 Tomcat (Anytime, Baby) - that was their moto - on every F-14 Patch is a cat wearing a holster and it says, "Anytime Baby." I also liked the F-4 Phantom for its looks. and the P-38, P-61 and of course, the classic P51. Look at my icon/avatar thingy image and you'll notice; I like the old muscle machines.

The video does get one thing wrong, the F-15 is actually rivaled by the F-16 that arguably should've been included. The F-16 actually has more kills with only a few losses and it's also the most numerus western plane currently in use in the world.
F-16 is pretty strictly a fighter, an F-15 is an interceptor and the Eagle variant is multi role, and can be used for ground attack better than what an F-16 can do in the same role

I read years ago that the C-130 was the only airframe to survive an outside loop; that is instead of doing a loop with the top of the plane facing the inside, it looped facing outside. Was tossed accidently that way while doing measurements on the inside of a Typhoon. Popped thousands of rivets everywhere but got home ok.
There are numerous Aviation museums throughout the US, you may want to seek out the locations of the ones you may wish to see, prior to traveling to the US, so you can include them in your Coming to America adventure.
I can definitely tell you that seeing the F-22 Raptor at a local airshow two summers ago was like watching alien technology. I saw the Raptor do essentially a 90 degree turn at 400 knots -- like a "hockey-stop" maneuver in mid-air sliding sideways. It would accelerate straight up and out of sight and then fall to the ground like a fluttering leaf and then miraculously recover and start flying straight again. Now, I love love love our F-15 Eagles -- I think those are the most badass fighters ever made -- ounce for ounce and pound for pound. But the F-22s ... even if you see them in person you won't believe it... they are otherworldly.
The new fighters, including the F-22, have a revolutionary feature on the engines. It’s called vector thrust engines. The exhaust actually rotates with the rest of the turning apparatus so it works kind of like a power slid in the air.
If Garin is interested in one of the best pilots to ever have flown US Air Force fighters, he should do a CZcams search for "Colonel Robin Olds" who later became an Air Force General and Commandant of Cadets at the USAF Academy in Colorado. My dad worked at the Pentagon in USAF Public Affairs, and one day he said that Col. Olds would be coming to our house for a brief visit. So I got to meet Col Olds and spent some time with him. He was very nice to me and I consider it a real honor to have been able to meet him. (He was the top Fighter Ace in the 1970s, mainly flying F-4 phantom jets. At the time my dad worked for the first female Lieutanant General (two-stars) in the Air Force, and she used to take me and my sisters out on her boat for rides on the Potomac River near Washington, DC. Anyway, I think Garin might enjoy reading about General Olds and the time he visited our home outsider Wasshington, DC :)
I'm an USAF Veteran and my job was to load the armament on attack and fighter aircraft. I was with the Flying Tigers squadron, and we were one of the first bases to get the A-10 back in 1980. It was by far my favorite aircraft to work on!!
I am German, 62 years old. In the event of a conflict between NATO (on our side) and the Warsaw Pact on the other side, this aircraft would have been used massively. The Warsaw Pact (Eastern Bloc) had tens of thousands of tanks, many more than on the NATO side. The A 10 was intended to quickly minimize this imbalance.
A really very good book about a fictional World War 3, if you haven't read it yet, is by Tom Clancy Title: "In the Storm" Highly recommended. It's not about number comparisons, which quickly become boring, but rather resembles a feature film in book form.
The A-10 is and always will be my favorite aircraft. Its meant for 1 thing and 1 thing only, support ground forces. The sound of that gun is magic. The a-10 is so tough that a pilot fighting in iraq had half her plane shot away and still was able to fly it home and land safely.
They have pictures online/youtube that show the damage that plane can take. Holes in the wings, engines blown off, they can fly when other planes crash. A-10 !
Many years ago, I was hunting up north of here a few miles with some friends. Heard a jet but couldn't see it. All of a sudden, at treetop level, a B-52 flies right over our heads, practicing knap-of-the-earth maneuvers, apparently. Of course, we were less than 100 miles from a SAC base. The Fat Electrician did an episode on the F-15. The MOAB, dropped by the C-130, is actually an air burst bomb (Massive Ordnance Air Burst)
B-1 bombers (BONE). I’m still in awe watching them take off. Every car alarm in the parking lot goes off when these beauties take off. The firepower on target must be frightening.
You can always tell a B-52 is coming by the sound of the engines and the smell of the smoke.
The cannon on the Warthog fires 4,300 rounds per minute or 70 per second. Each 30mm round for this cannon is the size of a beer bottle. Imagine someone throwing 4,300 beer bottles at you in less than a minute.

What is more scary about those bunker busters is they use up all the oxygen so even if you aren't in the blast area, you could still pass out/RIP
Some of the planes listed are newer. F22 entered service in 2008 and F35 entered service in 2015. But yes the aircraft currently in development are next level!

The B-1 B Bone is the fastest thing on the planet hugging the earth running and afraid. I love this plane she can drop he bomb load and get out of there with the quickness. Nothing faster on the planet in low level speed.

Fast is cool but fuel capacity is what is really important the b1 b bone has an extensive amount of fuel so hot intercepter jets cannot keep up for the duration the miles dummy.
20 years ago I was jeeping in Saline valley(just south of Death valley. I was on a road on a canyon wall going down to the valley when 2 A 10's came up on me from behind and level with me......I'll always remember that!
They have been heavily upgraded with very modern and advanced technologies as well as structural improvements.
Gotta love the A-10's "mule-fart" sound that the rotary cannon makes when it's engaged.
One thing about it is the more advanced technology is very expensive and needs a lot more training for the military to maintain and operate it.

The real world does not work that way. ALMOST everything is about atmospheric conditions. Haze, fog, clouds, rain, snow, dust, almost anything will mean you can't get a useable picture from space.
Don’t know about pictures from space, but when MT St.Helens blew NASA sent a U2 to take photos of it and they set up a pre/post light area in my old shop at Ellsworth AFB, SD. I was a Life Support Technician at the time. I worked on aircrew survival equipment (helmets/O2 masks, survival kits, parachutes etc). One afternoon the pilots came in with some shots they took of Rapid City. They told me that the camera on their plane was pretty good so I ask them to tell me what kind of car I drove. I gave them the address and they told me, including the license plate number! They could see that because of the angle of the camera when shot. They were at 80,000ft. And yes, we had volcanic ash on our cars from the eruption even in Rapid City..about 1200 miles away! cheers

Had the honor to see the B-52 Stratofortress twice during my tour in Vietnam in 1967/68. Our squad leader, a Second Lieutenant, called in both and the first time he got co-ordinates wrong . That beast put a load of 500 lb bombs on a ridge line about 300 yds. away from our position. That was bad, the entire Earth seemed to be vibrating and the noise was unbelievable. I had my K-bar out and was cutting off shirt buttons so I could get closer to the ground. Stupid move right ? The second call was better, he placed them correctly and totally removed an NVA Village. We had to go there (where the bombs landed), looking for survivors - but we never found a trace of an NVA Battalion, (40 to 60 soldiers). An awesome piece of weaponry.
In response to your son's question, how do the C130s stay in line, if you watch the part about the warthog taxiing along you see they are following a line painted on the ground. The C130s are following a similar line painted on the ground at a different base.
The big airplanes may be old, but they are constantly being maintained. Except in combat, when a plane lands, mechanics are crawling all over the plane looking for things to fix. The plane will probably be on the ground for a few days before it's next flight. When they go to the depot for major checks, there are upgrades performed on them as well. They are old planes with new electronic controls and systems.
The B-52 was born in the 1950's and still is serving. The C-130's are great, super tough. Can land on terrible runways. The AC-130 is basically a flying tank. The warthog is unreal..... These things were built around the pilot and some of the controls. A 30 mm bullets are giant. 25mm is around one inch. I heard the bullets explained as soda pop bottles and can spread a tank. Thanks to all three of you. America spends an obscene amount of money on defense.

My son was in the airforce for 21 yrs. Worked on the warthogs. They are massive and very powerful. Up close they are really something.

The AC-130U has been retired. The AC-130J is it's replacement, with a 30mm Bushmaster Chain Gun and a 105mm Howitzer plus Hellfire missiles and glide bombs. I was on the AC-130U Gunship Test Team and it really made me feel old when my baby was retired. But that is life in the Air Force.
There's nothing like needing air support and you hear the a-10 and you know there will be a tomorrow..
One of the major US airforce bases, Wright-Patterson, is near where I live. My husband was a civilian, but worked there for 33 years.
There is an air show every year in another near-by suburb. Very cool!
The F-35 will NEVER replace the A-10.
A"Jack of all Trades" simply CAN'T replace a dedicated role aircraft.
There are companies in the USA that strip the plane down to the frames a check the frames for cracks, repair, rewire for new equipment, and then reskin them. All the jet engines are removable for servicing.
If you look close you can see wheels at the end of the wingtips because as the missus said the B-52 had wings so long they needed landing gear on the wingtips due to the flex and length

The MOAB's were originally designed as daisy-cutters or Air-mobile landing zone creators in the jungles of South-East Asia. A daisy-cutter was designed to create instantly an area where helicopters could land in a forested area. The reason they called them daisy-cutters was because the newly created LZ looked like a daisy from the air.
The word "Badass" is a compliment here in the USA. Let your boy stretch his liberties a bit friends!

After WWII, the United States made military aviation a priority, and our military-industrial complex ran wild. Many of the reasons we have such old aircraft is because we percieved our pacing threats like Russia to be more capable than we initially perceived and the aircraft that came of that were so good that they had no real competition from our enemies and we ended up have this fleet of ridiculously advanced aircraft. This is why the United States Air Force is often heralded as the best in the world and one of the Air Forces official mottos is "Fly-Fight-Win", because most of the time, that's what happens.
There's a saying around the A10's gun "If you hear it, you weren't it's target"
Ask the ground troops how bad a$$ the A-10 is. They don't care how high tech and stealthy the other jets are, they want to hear the "brrrrt" because they know they're going back safe.

The C-130 has been in production for 70 years, with over 2500 been built. It is the longest running military, or civilian aircraft, production in the world. The present model, is the Super C-130, and while the air frame is basically the same, inside it’s a totally different aircraft. Really enjoy your show👍
I'm sure someone else may have mentioned this, but the B-52's first flight was in 1952. It entered service in 1955. Fathers have had their sons fly the same airframe. They're all getting new engines now to prepare them to fly until the 2050's. IIRC, the engines are from Rolls Royce...

I've had the privilege of working around most of those aircraft. I have ridden on the C-130, KC-135, and the KC-141.
Actually, the flyboys call it "the Warthog" because of that quite intimidating grunting sound the cannon makes...😉
Just to put a point on it, the very first flight of the B-52 was 15 April 1952.
The video does state that some say there will be B-52s flying in 2052!

On the B52, with a full load there are temporary wheels under the wings. These and an external fuel tank fall off at take off. The wing tips under full load need the extra wheel to support the fuel tanks. As it takes off the wing tips lift 21ft before the main landing gear lift off the ground.
I used to live a few miles from the tip of the flightline. You could tell by the sound and how much your house shook what type of planes were coming in.
I see the C-130 Hercules a lot along with other military planes. i live close to an air force base. i drove past the base a few times as those things are landing. they are HUGE!!! They do airshows too, you could be at home and they fly right over your house, low. all kinds of planes are at the airshow. There's nothing like sitting on your porch and a few fighter jets scream by at a high rate of speed lol.

The "Mother Of All Bombs" does not penetrate into the ground, it is a Massive Ordinance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb, which explodes above the ground. the height roughly 1 meter. The MOAB bomb uses a massive outward air pressure shock wave to destroy everything in it's target zone, which happens to be a 1-mile blast radius. Upon collapse of that shock wave, the atmosphere then crashes back in to the void created by the MOAB's explosion, creating a second, inward shock wave.
I was USAF on heavies, including B-52s, which were designed starting in the late '40s. The first one flew in 1952, appropriately enough. B-52s were designed with eight engines because the early jet engines of the 1950s were not nearly as "thrusty" or reliable as later models would be, so the answer was to hang more of them on the wings. For an even more extreme example of that philosophy back then, see the massive B-36 Peacemaker of the 1950s, which had ten engines - six propeller engines and four jets, aka "six turnin' and four burnin'". More engines increased redundancy and the ability to absorb battle damage and keep flying, an important attribute in a war bird. My USAF wing in the '70s flew the "big belly" B-52D models that were built in the mid '50s.
The only B-52s still flying are H models, which were the last B-52s built in the early '60s. They were the only B-52 model which came with slightly more powerful and less noisy and smoky low bypass turbofans of the late '50s, instead of the louder, smokier early '50s turbojets of the A-G models. The H models still have those same late '50s turbofans but are scheduled to get new, far more modern engines and other upgrades to take them at into the 2040s, nearly 100 years after the first B-52 flew.
Although there are none still flying (they were replaced by B-52s), for a jaw-dropping military aircraft, look for videos of the aforementioned B-36 Peacemakers. There are scenes here on CZcams of B-36s from the beautifully filmed mid 1950s movie "Strategic Air Command" staring Jimmy Stewart, who was a bomber pilot and brigadier general in real life.
They should have made this at least a top ten list and included a few other still-flying, impressive aircraft, such as the C-5 Galaxy. C-5 takeoff videos are fun to watch, especially from back when they still had their original, howling TF39 engines. Especially under takeoff power, they have been described as sounding like the screech of 10,000 angry vacuum cleaners. The C-5s were re-engined several years ago and now sound just like any other modern big fan jumbo jet, but they're still impressive to watch just due to their size.
The A-10's gun can fire 70 rounds per second! One round weighs about .8kg(or 2 pounds)!
I have a good friend (practically family) who built his own chicken coop from scratch! (When I asked him why, he gave me a dirty/filthy look, and said, "I'm sick and tired of the price of eggs"! He wound up having to knock it down due all of his neighbors complaining of the smell...

I grew up in the St. Louis area and Mcdonnell Douglas had a facility at Lambert Airport. My dad was a Naval Reserve pilot, transports, and he, I & my brother were at MD out on the ramp one day. My dad had taxied a plane over there, we got to ride in it. An F15, still being test flown at that time, was lined up for a take off. As soon as it rotated it stood on it's tail and shot almost straight up. My dad said because they were still being tested they had to be at a certain altitude before they crossed a line drawn up from the end of the runway to avoid commercial traffic. He was also an airline pilot.
At least that's what we were told. ;o)
The F-22 costs about 350 million dollars per plane. Several years ago, i got to stand about 10 feet from one that was parked in a hanger, it was cool.
They stay in a perfect line, as they place their nose wheels on the bright yellow line on the tarmak/runway.
@Kat: there *were* cell phones in the 1970s...they were the size of double oversized bricks, but they were there... seeing one was something of an event when I was Garrin's age and younger ( Who is that guy talking to, Mom? Quiet, son. The person on the other end might hear you)
My favorite job ever was plane captain in the USNAVY for E2C Hawkeye and C2 Greyhound.
