Thanks for putting all these out there. I just went through all your videos on Razer's current keyboard offerings to help me make a decision. Excellent detail. Great work.
it's surprising how much better these are than i expected. i tried oranges, reds and yellows, then compared them to their equivalent cherry switch, and the razer ones felt far better.
I've had MX blue and brown. I now have the Razer Yellow and they are my favorite. No resistance and quick response, no clicky sound.
i dont like the no resistance because now i get typos in my typing like 75 percent of the time, vs when i had the clicky greens, i only mistyped like 25 percent of time, and i type fast
@@fudabi7850 I don't do much typing lol but I'm not used to it now. For gaming I love them.

I just got my Linear Optical Hunstman and I'm really happy with the feel performance. After being burned on several corsair keyboards using MX Speed switches, which all started showing key chatter, I held out for optical switches from Razer. The clicky optical mechanical were really loud for my taste. These are clicky when bottomed out, but really on par with other MX Red\Speed switches.
Yes, I did that too, but I didn't have any problems with the cherry mx red, however they make you write paragraphs about the collatz conjecture, about 69-symbolism, spacial non-oriantability, about the tree of knowledge of good and evil and about moebiusstrips, at least when you have the cherry mx red on a blue pcb in a ducky shine 4 69.
But I actually do prefer it's glossy keycaps, the razer ones feel like sandpaper and the keyboard frame sound is somehow hollow.
But ofc one gets used to it and when you don't have a comparison it's not noticeable and definitely still way better than a rubberdome/membrane.
So additionally to the huntsman v2 with the linear opto-mechanical, I got myself a black widow elite with h green switches, bc without keycaps and some light not working, it was only 20 bucks.
Solderd the green razer switches onto my blue pcb ducky, and removed the blue and red duo/bi-leds and just put mono green inside.
And put the cherry mx red into the blackwidow elite with 10 bucks white pudding keycaps.
Now I got 3 keyboards huntsman elite, green-blue ducky, and a false widow.
Was hella lot of work though, but I enjoyed it, it taught me a lot about soldering and techniques of desoldering, and what also happened was constantly having dejavus, I mean when you do the same thing like 208 times, you are constantly repeating yourself, put some music or a good series on in the background and it's not that big of a deal anymore.
Dude who dafu has a black widow with cherry mx red? And who has a ducky with razer switches lol amd who removes red and blue bi-led circle logic, opposing forces to replace that void with green light?
Yes they are real good , did you get the mini or tkl
I have never in my life understood asmr until witnessing that red switch test.

I've stuck to the Huntsman TE for a long time now. The Red Linear Optical Switches not only are in my opinion more quiet and responsive, but they're better for longer gaming sessions(Destiny 2 raids for example). I can play for hours with those linear optical switches and my wrists won't hurt.

Iâm not a Razer guy but I have to decide, I would go with Orange switches. Btw you didnât mention that Yellow is actually the most comparable to Cherry MX Speed switches that also actuate at 1.2 mm with the same force that has to be applied.

Excellent review, thanks for the knowledge. I have Huntsman mini with the clicky optical purple and absolutely love the setup.
Very insightful, thank you for explaining the difference in switches, and having the clear sound tests!
As someone who has used both, I personally recommend Green switches over purple. Purple has a âcheaperâ type feel, as I feel they wobble a little bit to much. Donât know if ââtwas a lemon, but I didnât enjoy it.
I think the yellow switches sound is smooshed and I really like it!!
what's your thoughts on the purple switch? (compared to other clicky switches such as box whites, razer greens..etc) Nice vid!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Great work man! Clearly you've put out a lot of work in this video. đ„
where the freak did you get those switches, I literally need to buy singular switches of each type, but don't have any idea where
This was the best one that I've seen in my few days of looking. I'm definitely getting the Reds because I'm tired of my keyboard's clickiness coming through my mic into recordings.
Hey frank i was wondering about the optomechanic switch. What if some dust or crumbs would randomly get in the way of the path of the light for the switch. Would the key still register or not?
it's good that razer is fixing the quality of their keyboards now. I really like the purple switches, and i hear that the new walled switches are much more reliable than the old ones, which were already some of my favorite switches.

I find it funny when ppl say that fan noise is to loud and it's over Wyoming. But then have a keyboard that's so loud you can even hear anything

I would love to watch one of these videos where someone is not bottoming out the keys and using only the pressure needed to active the switch or typing light and fast. My greens sound quieter than the optical reds in this video.
im so happy razer made the changes to the red linear there a lot more silent now but I realized that I like tactile switches to late :(
Are purple switches good for typing? I'm a programmer not a gamer, so I need an effective keyboard for typng (possibly not too noisy), and I'm wondering if those new switches are good for typing or if they can cause too many typos due to the short activation distance. Any hints on this?
What an amazing video! I needed this!!!
And then there's me still using a membrane keyboard..... Only me? Ok...
Same for me dude, g13 for gaming and 105 for typing
Mechanical is super overrated, completely useless, oh it *clicks* louder, so it's better.

@@ligmamama1537 Nah, I don't want to hear this, I want to hear *why* I would want to spend hundreds on keys that make noise
@@shawndecker426 First of all they are not that expensive. You can easily find mechanical keyboards from decent manufacturers for like 60$. And secondly the mechanical keyboards are better for typing, gaming etc.. becouse they are lightwheit to press and they also have fast actuation which means you are faster than the avarage player in games. And also most of them have backlighting which is a must for night time gaming and typing.

Dr. Pepper PHD Donât take this as reference. Razer switches are considered the worst type. And donât get me wrong, Cherry mx isnât that great either there are a lot better options out like Holy pandas or Novelkeys cream. I suggest checking out taetypes for a better introduction to quality mechanical keyboards.
There's that long awaited asmr vid

Great Vid, your content is so perfect in my opinion. I had a Razer Huntsman Elite but I sended it back because I hate this sound of the springs from the switches. This sound is really anoying in my opinion. What do you think about?
I must say that I have the Linears Opto-Mechanical switches (Red Switches) and if youâre the kind to rest your thum on the spacebar, you might always hit it accidentally

ok for people who want to know how long does the Clicky Optical Switch lasts, I did research and took only like 10 minutes, there are 2.6 million keystrokes in a year, so if you multiply, 2.6x38.5 it is 100.1 keystrokes and so that means it will take 38 years if am correct to stop working :) and I will do Razer Green
Thanks
@LEK4A yeah, I am sure itâs for linear too
just thought id add to this, ive had green switches in my last 2 razer keyboards... 1 of those being my current one, loved my first one which lasted 5 years until I sold it to somebody (still worked like new) and ive had my current one for 4 years, also still works great :) theyâll never die until you want a new keyboard đ
@@yahned ph thatâs nice
Trying in a store, for longer than is socially acceptable I fell in love with the green switches. Glad I went for them. I preferred them over the new switches too.
I don't mind the bit of wobble. It just feels right. The sound is not important to me. Loud or quiet, I don't care for my use at home.
The biggest issue I have now is that I don't use mechanical while working. And well, it would be too loud to use greens in that environment anyway so I'll see what I'll end up doing using for work. If I keep things as they are or if I just cannot.
Thanks for this video! Great content. Cheers

I love my huntsman TE keys, amazing and still work Fantastic after months of use. I do find myself typing things wrong because of fat fingering keys, with the very small activation force just tapping the key activates which is great for gaming but not ideal for Typing messages.
i like the reds the most, i usually dont type heavy and im a big fan of platform fighters, so the quick actuation is really nice, i also just like the smooth feeling with little to no resistance

The purple sounds more like the Cherry MX Blue in my Blackwidow Ultimate from a decade ago than those greens do. The greens are more silent.
Personally I am thinking of simply getting a Asus ROG Flare II Animate instead because I can 'hotswap' the keys. So even when they might not come with MX Blue installed I can still order a set of blues and drop them in if I so desire. Or easily replace a key if one ever goes bad. Yet I still have to see a Cherry key fail on me personally.
