    JJ at his peak was not only a monster. But just such an easy guy for EVERYONE to love. I really just remember NFL fans in general loving his on and off field self. (Obviously not when he was playing your team)

      I was thinking the exact same thing. Putting some heat on the QB used to be an important part of the game. Making guys nervous, making them throw the ball too early, or tuck it down cause they were worried about losing it. It added up over the course of the game.

    Watt was a monster. Trai Turner was the only guy I can remember who figured out somewhat how to use Watt's technique against him. he pivoted when JJ dipped and pushed him down. He also punched right below the armpits when JJ went up to swat a pass. It worked because JJ didn't have a single sack that game. That was the best strategy I've seen to deal with him in his prime

      Big Texans fan here and Big JJ fan here. When JJ was starting to decline the only person I saw was Lane Johnson of the Eagles. All game dude, one on one and I think JJ got close to the QB once. Granted, it was after 3 of his Big injuries but it was still impressive.

    I love the Mannings. One of the best things I have watched in years was "The Book of Manning" documentary on Disney+. Archie Manning was an amazing Dad, hence his kids are solid and whole. I have to watch that again. Peyton and Eli are absolutely hilarious, together or as an individual.

    Watching him and ray lewis they hit HARD, but they didn’t lead with the helmet. They just lowered their shoulder and popped the ball carrier. Clean hits.

    PS- And as much as I rooted for the Rams, my favorite team at the time were the Baltimore Colts, who had Johnny U as their quarterback. John Unites is the best quarterback that I've ever seen play, hands down.

    you could just see it what made Watt so good was he just tried harder than the guys he went up against , like he said just out willed them . downside of that he tore his body up over the years trying so hard

    Easy to look at QBs like Peyton and think they aren’t tough or superb athletes because they aren’t chiseled receivers or mass monster LBs. then he takes a hit like 5:02 and you realize the guy is also built different.

      thats why i like the older games better.... they have taken the defense out of the game both on sacking the QB and even the CBs Checking the WRs... i remember watching games where it was tougher and also the RB really mattered

    Prime JJ was amazing to watch. Like Aaron Donald, Justin Jefferson or Mahomes, generational talent will take over a game single handedly and will their team to a win.

      He was... too bad rule changes essentially forced him into retirement much like they did too klay matthees because much like klay matthews he was getting called for roughing the passer like stupid even on clean hits because you habe to "hit and release" a qb (basically two hand touch) and csnt lean into a hit on a qb anymore which is why you seeing less anf less qb fumbles on hits

    Now we can barely press the QB without some Flag thrown .. and I gotta agree with Brady on all these flags .. you’re making the game build bad habits for these athletes that are coming up, they don’t need to think about the guy that will hit them or the dangerous guy that could get you out of the game WITH A CLEAN HIT, I mean .. all these possibilities that would happen back in 2011 and those days .. let the game way more smart, need to study way more, think other plays to get out of one player or two, think ways to protect your receivers and sometimes make spectacular throw or run on that player and let em perplex .. stunning

    Some of those hits were brutal and are evidence that there may be protection for the QB in this day and age, but it's no prophylactic that can stop some types of malevolence.

    I miss my football days now . I remember getting my 1st pick 6 as a Sam linebacker and I instantly recognized the screen formation so as soon that ball was in the air being snapped . I charged at the guy that was supposed to block me and rammed tf outta him . As soon as he fell back on his ass . I looked straight back to the QB and the ball was heading straight to my chest . I just caught it and ran it back untouched .
