    Wonderful videos, Espen. We love Costa Rica and spent before and after the pandemic 2 times 4 weeks there. It was amazing. My wife and I love birding and wildlife photography and felt like in paradise. We did Pacific and carribbean coast. So, midlands are missing and will be visited soon.

    What a fantastic place Costa Rica appears to be. Ive read how the government and the locals have really embraced the advantages of looking after the beautiful environment that they have and protecting the local wildlife and wild spaces has had major economic benefits for the country. Looked like a great trip Espen, so many species to photograph. Looking forward to the next film 👍

    What an incredible video, I am a bird lover from Costa Rica, and I've seen them but
    I had to watch this video about 6 times in a row; I loved that u talked about the history of the national bird(Yigüirro), we learn about this history when we are in school in the civics books (national symbols), and we have a lot of respect for this bird. Thanks for this post.

    Your moth at 9:15 is in the genus Erastria, likely Erastria decrepitaria. As far as the butterfly at 9:06, it is definitely in the tribe Ithomiini. To me it looks like Pteronymia latilla but I am by no means an expert on Costa Rican butterflies.

    Planning my own trip, so I'm curious about the luggage. I noticed that you had two backpacks. How did that work out? Would you do your luggage differently next time? Which mindshift did you take, and did you use it as carry-on luggage? Your travel videos have been helpful.

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland  Před rokem +1

      Hi Paul, sorry for the delay. I had my Mindshift elite 45L and I used a bigger osprey backpack for clothes etc. the 45L is great for travel and I just had it at Dovre as well, however in the tropics I wish I had a smaller one, it gets so hot 😅 I had a very small Solomon bag, and I used that sometimes with just an extra lens and batteries with me.

I lived in Rio, Brazil, for 36 years! Also a Paradise for Birds and wildlife. I’m living in southwest Germany now… not so many different species to photograph:)
