For everyone new coming to this video. Please... PLEASE... I BEG OF YOU. Respect MY experience with this product. I know my hair VERY well (I’ve been doing wash and gos for 6 years now)... trust me. If you feel like the experience would be different doing something different then that’s YOUR hair. I know how I like my hair to look and feel, guys lol Not ONCE did I bash this brand or say YOU shouldn’t try it. I said it didn’t work for ME. That should be it lol Y’all want vloggers to be HONEST with y’all and not “pretend to like everything” but when I do... so many people are trying to sway my opinion otherwise! Especially when I know the product already doesn’t have enough hold for how I like to wear MY hair. PLEASE respect this. Dassit. 🥴
I could not get past the smell. There is a strong smell to this product. It smelled like paint. I brought the one with fragrance but I didn't realize until after I brought the product that they sold unscented gels. I had a very bad headache from the smell and had to rewash my hair allover again. Now I brought the moisturizer from Amazon and still could not use it because it was like Amazon sold me a bad batch. It smelled like avacodo that was going bad. The gel I brought from the actual company and it still smelled like paint. The good news is the product did not flake for me. However, I just could not get past the smell.
I still use ECO and like the hold. It doesn't dry my hair out either. We do what works for our hair because we know our hair.
I had the same issue with flaking and dry scalp after my wash n go. I got the sampler and will try on a twist out instead. Thank you for honest review!

Did you use only gel or did you use the 4 step products? Asking because your hair is exactly like mine. The gel definitely did not work for me but I do not wish to gve up without trying the 4 step wash and go product. The items are not cheap and do not wish to waste my coins if that is what you used. Again was it the gel only that you used?

Cuz! I wish I would’ve watched this before I spent $75 for an entire kit! Sometimes I hate these Instagram ads! Your review was spot on. The flakes are EVERYWHERE! My hair is so dry...it is frustrating when wash day takes a good 2 hours not counting the dry time. To have to do it all over again 😩

I had this same experience and then had to go back and do the system the exact way they say to use it and haven’t had the same flakes. The whole cast system and everything was knew to my process as well.
On their website, they give you directions on how to get best results and you didn’t follow them so maybe that’s why your results weren’t that great. I bought the Moisturize line and I had great results on 4B-4C hair. I wasn’t too heavy handed with the product because that will cause flaking. I also went under the hood dryer, which they also recommend (either diffuse hair dryer or hood dryer) to set the curl. They say if you air dry, your curls will not be great. I recommend if you give this a product a try then follow directions to a tee before you dismiss it.
I'm good on this. But if it worked for you, that's great! Like I said, this was not a bash and I like the concept. It's just not what I'M looking for in a gel ❤️
So far it’s working for me. It’s actually my best wash and go to date. Summer is coming so we’ll see. Thank you for your honesty 🌸
I don’t think the gel is meant to be used alone. I’ve been using the wash n go 2 step system for months now. My curls are happy af. My best results are when I apply steps 3 and 4 to SOAKING WET HAIR...like i just turned off the shower head and my hair still dripping wet. It does take forever to dry (I have low porosity hair) but my curls be rocking for daysss

When I read the information on their website it was suggested to use step 3 which is a moisturizer before the gel and on clean soaking wet hair. When I used it in that order I did have flakes on day 3. After reading other testimonials I realized I was using too much gel because it doesn’t take much for my hair. The next wash n go I used a small amount of gel then the moisturizer and sealed it with oil. That worked great....no flakes and the curls held. Also Kim said CM gel cannot be used like echo styler to smooth the hair & edges down but enhance your natural curl pattern.

I take your advice on certain products, because I have Low Porosity just like you, so I’ve been noticing that certain products that don’t work for you, don’t work for me. I just purchased the growth gel and moisturizer over the weekend. I 🙏🏾 it doesn’t flake. I made a DIY flaxseed gel and it flaked sooo bad 🤦🏾♀️ but I was heavy handed.
You know, I believe flaxseed just doesn’t work well for some hair types, the same as coconut oil.
I used the ECO GEL before and it was good for ponytails but the Econwith flaxseed was horrible and flaky for my hair
I own the Curlmix Rose flaxseed gel, it works super well for me on it's own but I have type 3a-3c hair and protein dependency because I have an oil problem. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but I love that this is such a real review, so I appreciate you getting the word out for people with your hair type! Now I can direct my curl-friends with similar hair types to yours to this video if they come to me looking for advice about purchasing this gel💕 Stay real girl!!😊

I really wanted to love this. Saw the familiy on Shark Tank, loved them and the concept. Spent $80 (yikes) on product. Have tried using it 4 times now, each time paying close attention to directions, watched the video, etc. Each time I have had the same awful results :( Crispy, dry, VERY shrunken ugly hair! Each time I have had to wash it out the next day. No other product causes me as much shrinkage as these. Just doesn't work for my 3C/4A hair. Wasted my money.

I tried and officially use the flaxseed vanilla berry gel with the matching avocado moisturizer mixed together. They moisturize my hair better than anything I've tried before. I do believe it is the combination of the gel and moisturizer together that works. I put a lot of both products until I'm happy and I dont get flakes from it . It dries clear for me and really defines my hair (4c colored low porosity). The only complain I have is I dont love the scent and it doesn't stretch my hair as much as other gels but i rather have the moisture it gives me that I haven't gotten from any other combination then use something else. Oh yea and there needs to be a bigger size available. Run through it pretty fast

I love the flaxseed vanilla gel. It's amazing and doesn't flake up for me at all. It's my #1 product! I do mix it with another gel for a bit more hold, but the definition is on point for me and softness. I tend to refresh my hair in the week due to a bit dryness, but you have to refresh your hair at some point if u only wash your hair 1 time a week. The product feels so light when applying, but a little really works. But that's just my experience. I have 3c hair, with high density

Very interesting and I was wondering why people was having so much problems with flaking. I looked at the date and saw that this was five years ago
. My hair was a mess from using braids for so many years and neglecting my hair. I tried CM and also took the free Masterclass and no flakingin my hair. I think perhaps CM has made changes to their products because their are hundreds or people in their masterclass and seldom does anyone complains about flaking. I do know that CM suggest that you do your hair in the shower and you can never use enough water. My hair was really dehydrated and its much better now. I also realize that my hair looks it when I do a complete set twice a weeks. I'm trying to drink more water and if I get consistent with it, it'll probably last longer. The more hydrated my hair becomes, the longer the set last.

The only thing is you said yourself you didn't use it as directed. I would like to see how it comes out if you follow the directions. When I try to twist wash n go products they tend to flake up.

Love this video. Love that you tell it like it is. I’ve used it. It was shiny but it left a haze and it was drying and I used the moisturizing one. Needless to say it did not last and it was like 3rd day hair on first day hair for me.
Will you try their new Pure Avocado Moisturizer underneath the gel maybe that will add the moisture back that you was lacking from the gel alone. Thank you for your honesty!

Literally just did a wash & go with the softening one and used the Jane Carter Curls to Go Leave In Conditioner underneath it 😂 I still got the residue that I did the first time but, like you, I use as much product as I feel I need 🤷🏾♀️ but it does the same thing when applying it in my hair as it did in yours, starts unclumping and looking a bit frizzy but once it dries, it’s like that never happened 😳 I loveeee how it makes my curls look once dry, it gives me like day 2/3 hair on day 1. I used it for a one product wash and go, my hair looked and felt good on Day 1 (I used both the Softening and Repairing ones) but my hair was dry and crusty looking by day 3 so I prefer using a leave in cause I need longevity lol my main issue with these gels is the residue 😩😭 I don’t mind throwing a leave in underneath lol

Honestly, you could just make flaxseed gel at home and get the same, if not better, results. Since I wash and deep condition my hair in about 10 twists, I just retwist each twist with a leave in or moisturizer, let them completely dry, then I rake the gel through on dry hair till I feel it is nice and clumped. It honestly gave me definition and hold comparable to eco styler. I used a spray leave in to soften my hair since I didn't have any oil and I kid you not, my hair lasted for 8+ days!

I bought it, smelled great and everything. While my hair was wet my curls popped. When dried, my curl pattern changed and underneath it knitted up. I washed it out. I tried it again and again I washed it out. I’ve never looked back. It just sits in my bathroom in a box.

I keep seeing their ads on FB so I asked them about the crunchy factor as well because it looks like it has a crispy hard hold. That might be good for humid weather. I don't know. These products are tricky. And that's probably my biggest critique--expensive and tricky. I do think a truly "honest" review is one in which you use the products as recommended. Then if it really doesn't work, you can say you really tried it. Mind you, I wouldn't say this about pretty much any other product LOL. I am constantly not following the directions and getting better results from other products. I can definitely say these are different and they work differently. In my opinion they work best with a diffuser dryer (I didn't even have good results with a bonnet dryer--it's that specific.) I understand if you're not really too invested, not wanting to invest the time and energy in learning the quirks of a product when there are so many that just do what they do without all that specificity. But, I can vouch for the recommendations to use the products as directed/instructed...

I have this exact gel and the matching leave in. I wanted to like it so bad but it did the exact same thing in my hair that it did to yours. No hold, my hair was dry and flaking, the moisture just was NOT there 😩😩 and this stuff wasn’t cheap😑😑

When you try the others, apply them all on sections of your hair in one sitting.
If you use all 4 items of the set, you’ll get the best results.
I’ve never layered FOUR products on my hair to get good results and I never will lol Especially when I can get better results with just two. But if it works for you that’s great! 👌🏾

I didn't wanna try flaxseed gel before and now I don't wanna try it even more lol. Every recipe/video I see, the consistency doesn't look smooth to me and all I can think about are flakes. I just think that sometimes black women have unrealistic expectations of products. Before I pay a high price tag 4A hair product, I need to know somebody personally that uses it, I need to see their hair after they've used it. You’re welcome. Since I am a Natural Hair Influencer is my literally my JOB to have certain expectations of a product. Not as a black women, but simply as someone who knows her hair. I don’t get to know someone who personally uses a product because often times for most people I am that person. I’ve been reviewing products for a long time and have had natural hair even longer (Almost my entire life) so I know very quickly if something is going to work for my hair because I know my hair very well.. so using that combined expertise I’m then able to come and share my honest un-biased opinions to those who are interested.

I bought and used the same.. and feel the same.. there’s no hold no crunch.. I actually like all those things.. my hair has 3 different curl patterns and with there product I found it only provides volume & curl definition.. which is fine although u want your curls to last at least 5-10 days mine only last 1 day let alone hours before turning into a big ass puff.. I felt it was a waste of time going threw all the work of breaking ur hair down and doing this to see it only lasting for a day.. like you said not a bash video & neither is this comment! But I’m just reaching out to let you know I am happy you posted your honest opinion very because I felt the same!! I have felt that I need to just keep using my products I use because they haven’t steered me wrong yet.. I hear you cuzzin! Your hair looks defined, fluffy & shiny. I understand because I like a gel cast too. All things don't work for everyone and flaxseed does nothing for me either. I have bought expensive gels like the mane choice, blueberry bliss, mielle organics & CRcurl maker and I do like them. The funny thing is my favorite gels are eco style & wetline extreme.

I tried the moisturizing one. Used all my DevaCurl products and SheaMoisture Super Fruit Conditioner. I was very skeptical because the gel was the so light but once it dried the results were great. I loved it, color me shocked.

Sorry it didn't work for you. It worked almost perfectly for me. The only negative was once my hair dried it felt hard, but about 24 hours later it had a much softer feel. I loved it mainly because it allowed me to wash and go with very defined curls and a shiny glow to my hair.

I find that the moisturizing one works best on my hair, but I still use a moisturizing cream before using the gel (for extra moisture)

I almost bought their hair products but then I remembered I had some flax seeds. I made my own gel easily and so far it works really well I was very surprised by that. I want to see how it holds up in big humidity. I like a strong hold as well but it's tough to find something not full of chemicals. 😵💫😵💫 I use the ECO which works so well but I have to wash my hair that day because my scalp gets so itchy!
I stopped using Eco two years ago and randomly used some my cousin had last month and I got the itchies too for the first time! Try Wetline!

I've been watching you for a while now and I knew that this wasn't going to work for you and 2 seconds before you said it I know someone was going to recommend to use flax-seed gel and I was like that's not going to work for you. You like a strong, firm hold and flax-seed was just not going to cut it.

I feel you. I didn't like the smell on any of the samples I received and the products are just not for my hair. I wish her well, but it's not for everyone. No one should get angry with you for your experience.
Exactly. I have NO ill will towards the brand. I hope they continue to see success. That doesnt mean everything will work for everyone. Thank you for understanding that. Some people dont lol

Thanks so much for your honest review of the product. I've heard about this product and have considered trying it. I just purchased the sample size moisturizer and gel from the castor oil for strengthening line in vanilla berry scent. I'll just have to see how it goes. 😏 I may also order at least one more of the other versions as well.

I’m on day 2 of a WNGI used the CurlMix unscented with Almond Oil, I forgot to use my leave in and my hair felt moisturized, curl definition and hold, no flaking. My hair is 4 category, low porosity and short. I used Ouidad Curl Quencher line Moisturizing Shampoo and their Curl Immersion Deep Conditioner. Forgot my leave-in. I don’t mind shrinkage.
Ossie R I am using curlmix unscented almond oil but without the gel, when I apply, it's perfect once it dry I have flakes could it be because I am not using the gel? I don't know what I am doing wrong ? I have short curly natural hair
I washed this video and another video before trying the product myself. Just like you I wanted it to work soooo bad. The product flaked up in my hair doing a overnight twist out.
