Please. Y’all. Stop finding “creative” ways to ask me if I’m pregnant because it’s the end of the day in this video and I had a big meal and poor posture. I’ve been deleting the comments and blocking people who are bold enough to still ask a woman this in 2020 but I’m honestly just going to pin this here and be done. I AM NOT PREGNANT. But further more, I, nor any woman should ever have to answer this question... because if I was and I didn’t SHARE... that means I wouldn’t have been ready to. Please keep in mind you never know what someone is going through and we have to stop taking it upon ourselves to comment on women’s bodies. I love y’all, for real. But I see y’all do other influencers like this all the time and it needs to stop!

thanks for positing this video and being honest and up front... I was wondering what was happening where eco styler was concerned. I know some may come for me, but I honestly didn't know that eco was being this foolish. I've been working and dealing with a lot lately. I have to admit I have two tubs of eco styler gel left and I'll be using them and once they're gone, they're gone and I won't repurchase. I'm so sick and tired of these brands not appreciating the power of our dollars. It's sickening to see these brands take us and influencers (like yourself) for granted...

Girl ...., I understand, I never spent money on too my products since my natural hair journey but I'm from the Caribbean and the most basic brands like Shea moisture are soooo expensive, a deep conditioner from them is like $35(the least), so imagine how much other higher ups cost like mane and mielle. Then I would have to pay $20 for JBO that's in the bottle half the size of my hand. Luckily I'm a low maintenance natural but I can easily see my more creative and active naturals having to spend over $600 per month in oils, shampoos, deep condotioners, moisturizers, shower caps, bonnets, butters, leave-ins etc. Especially if your a heavy handed person and wash your hair every week or every 3-4 days like some others do.

I think the point OP was trying to make is that natural hair influencers should be able to make content without pushing excessive consumerism. The emphasis should be on the hair health and community building rather than product pushing. Think of old school Naptural85 videos where she was mixing stuff up in her kitchen or just using holy grail products that worked best for her and talking about her techniques. She started to get into the product pushing side of things and that's when she started to feel burnt out. Because she kept having to try new products every week and put them in her videos when in reality she was more of a minimalistic, consistent, routine type of person.

I think Natural Hair influencers thrive the most when they emphasize technique. You can tell who is really caring for and nurturing their hair versus who is trying to get on the PR lists. I feel like most who started as type 1 ended up converting to type 2 for the money and hype, then got burnt out and discouraged after all of the bs. The capitalistic consumerism is the most interesting part about it to me. Because the natural hair market was like this neglected deserted land until some years ago and then when companies noticed the potential for money then the market started to get over saturated now it's like it's drowning.

I saw the video you’re referring to and have noticed the change. Everyone (some) are ready to do something else and I get it. It’s the new naturals that need the content more than anyone. Of course they can always go to the channels and look through the content to find answers to some of their questions. I sometimes watch just because I like to watch but you’re right how many wash and go videos can you do or what ever style. People have to essentially figure it out for themselves with a little help from you all. I enjoy it when you explore other aspects of your creativity. Thanks for the content cousin. You’re appreciated. Whaz Up!!!! 🤎🤎🤎

All of this! I agree with everything you said. At this point it's the new naturals that really need the value and help, and aside from creating essentially the same video every couple of years to catch the newbies, the best we can do it make sure our channels are optimized for easy searching and referencing. I personally like to do this with my playlists! Also, like you said.. if you've been doing this a while... I think it's NORMAL to want to expand a do new things! Plus it gives up and coming influencers a chance to get their content out there without always having to compete with "large channels" just creating the same videos over and over. Thanks so much for your support cuz! 🌻🤎

I feel like it's sooo much going on in this community at the same time and sometimes it just really gets overwhelming for me. You have the brands literally showing their behinds, the fight for the algorithm leaning increasingly towards needing to do crazier and crazier things to get views + at ALL times you have texurism and the whole hair typing system at whole ALWAYS on the prowl to ruin anyone's positive experience in this sphere. It's A LOT. I honestly see why people grow weary of it. Especially the tightest of textures that we all know don't get the support they deserve. For different people it's all different things adding up to why folks are tired.. but folks are definitely tired none the less 😩 The good news is... it's like this other communities on youtube, I'm SURE as well.

Like I was just saying to Faye, I honestly think instead of completely turning out back on the community, it's up to larger influencers to not "pull their punches" and continue to critique it from within! I also think more influencers who have been creating natural hair content for 5+ years also not being afraid to expand their content can be helpful to smaller channels getting opportunities for their content to be seen! I've always known that I would never be a content creator, but I have people that I follow. Some are old school, and some new. My interests have broadened so I watch other areas outside of hair, and of course, that takes away from my time watching hair content videos. When I see a topic pop up that is of interest I try to keep up with what is going on. Being slow to move on new products, and having the goal of ultra-long hair has kept me away from much of the drama with product makers in our community, because other than my few old school favs like you I tend to follow the ladies with hair past waist length, and they don't jump on trying new products very often. I use your system for my styling. Another you tubers products and system for trimming and straightening and more. Other you tuber with hair not like mine taught me to value my hair when healthy. I think you have value beyond measure and should be compensated. Thank you again!!!

Interesting video. I've been noticing a lot of people that I have been following are making "shifiting" videos. Its appreciated, so we won't ask where are the new natural videos at after not seeing them or getting a notification.
There are some things I have noticed in my middle-aged life and its the ability to discern who is doing what, when, where, how,and why. I say this because it took me over a decade to learn my hair type, and hair prorosity; products to use and why/when.
The things that does bother me about the shift ( now that I have learned about my hair type/hair prorosity) are the following:
    1. There is such a big colorist/texturist/featurist issue in the Black community that oozes toxicity rather than tonic energy into the natural hair community. And if its discusses, I know many natural Black women will get told they are hating.
2.On the flip side, I notice that a lot of younger girls switch up so much, that the inconsistencies again, pollute the NHC. Just my opinion!
    3. There are also some self-deprecating you-tubers who hate themselves so much that they want to trumabond with other natural or new naturals who cant quite figure out what to do with their hair. And if those self-deprecating youtubers actually illustrated what products actually worked for their hair, they lose their subscribers.
    Thank you for being transparent!

What a hot mess. Do you have any favorite brands? Honestly for me the only reason I don’t have more smaller black owned brands in my hair collection is because they tend not to be as accessible for those of us who are a little on the broke side. Do you have a list somewhere of accessible (like stuff at target Sally’s etc) brands that aren’t suss as hell?
Also glad I don’t use eco anyway lmao, it always dried tf out of my hair.
I also strayed from the natural hair community because of the uhhhh influx of white women. Let’s be real. Brands would rather sponsor a 2c white woman who “stays out of politics”.

I love the leave in by Tree Naturals, I have low porosity hair thinner creams work best for me. They are online and at a few stores, I first purchased at Tendrils and Curls in Houston, TX. But you can all order online. I don’t work for them, just like the product and I don’t see many CZcams videos about them.

I've never done a wash n go so I have never used eco styler, however the mielle babassu and mint deep conditioner by far does the best for my hair as far as protein deep conditioners. It really bothers me what the owner did to Linda Lynn and i'm trying to find another deep conditioner with those same qualities. Light weight, good slip and minty sensation. if someone knows of another brand please recommend to me!
