Hello Leah and Maarten and the beautiful children, I think your vids are the best, your soft spoken voice enhances the quiet beauty of your existence, I'm so glad that things are going in the right direction to improve your lives, veggie garden, tractor and all the possibilities it promises, I sincerely wish you all the best in your future endeavours, cheers!!!🥰😘👍👍👍🙏
you should have removed all the green parts from the flowers Im a soap maker so have infused oil many times. to keep a beets color you have to leave the root on and about 3 inchs of the tops that way they wont bleed out . but the chiogga beets it may not matter
Yay!! Digger!! What a great communnity networking thing you have got going with that. Love it.... Bo is getting tallish and lanky, and Pook is approaching the 'young lady' stage. [I know. Don't rush it ;) ] So glad to see you all doing well.
Hurray, a new digger.!The cooperation is a very good plan! 'Your garden looks healthy and so nice. It's wonderful how you are harvesting and cook with the children. Thank you for showing the calendula-oil. I will do the same with your lovely oil! With love from the Netherlands.
Congratulations on the new digger and the business deal, wonderful news. One of the ways I use twine with tomatoes is the way you have it tied at the top but if you bury a good amount at the other end where you plant the tomato (or next to it) the twine keeps firm providing stability for the plant. Just a thought. Love your videos, very relaxing and watching how much the children have grown. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Even if you are not "herbal" as you say, calendula is really great! Just dry some of the flowers and use as a tea in winter for sore throats (sweeten with a bit of honey) it works soooo well.
You can grate beets to add to chocolate cake mix or brownies. Another favourite is to roast beets in the oven then used in salads and goats cheese & rocket with a few walnuts putting into pita pockets.
I check Every day to see if you have a post. Was very happy to see this one today. I really enjoyed this video. Your garden is really doing well. I used to make pickle beets when I had a garden. It was the only way my children would eat beets and they really liked them pickled.
Glad you liked it! Have another video coming next week ☺️. The kids love pickles, but they have yet to try the pickled beets. I’ll just have to keep trying to persuade them
What fantastic news on the new digger, it pleases me to hear you have very kind neighbours to help out like that just fabulous - das ist shed gut !!! , good to see you all xxx
Great you have an income now and a business. I have horses so have piles of manure rotting down to which I add some greens. A couple of weeks ago I threw in the kitchen scraps with pumpkin seeds. A week later I saw bunches of pumpkin seeds sprouting and growing under the tarpaulin, and its winter here so it must have been very warm in the pile. I will now be planting mine in mounds of rotted manure and other compost. Looks good. I live on land in New Zealand.
I'm just soooo happy you've got a new digger! Congratulations 🎉 I've been following you guys for many years now, and even though I just know your family virtually, I am always wishing the best for you ❤
I imagine lots of new holes, trenches and grading on your property! Your waiting time for engine repairs was completely unreasonable, Portugal or not. Your beets look awesome!
I was thinking a house might be the new thing ,but nice toys are more fun. Hope the business keeps you busy in a good way. Enjoy the summer tx for the update 👍👍
wow love your little family and what you are both trying to do and your a great homemaker i hope the new digger works out well for you all too sending you all much love from australia ❤👍
I am so pleased for Martin that he has a partnership in a business and I pray that he gets lots of jobs I will certainly help put his name forward to other you tube channels I watch in Portugal and put his link forward to them. Have a lovely day.
As a mechanic myself i feel sad for some farmers who has no basic knowledge about engines or farm equipments as a whole. Because when it got broke they run to the mechanics for repairs. Those old diggers is an easy repair. My grandfather, as a farmer, understand this. He has no college degree, but went to vocational school in mechanic, six months school. Now we have a three generation repair shop.We are capable of repairing or overhauling any kind of farm equipments.
I just learned a new way to use beets. Here in Canada a company makes parsnip, red beets and sweet potatoes chips. So if you slice roots thin like the chips and dehydrate them in oven or sun, snd then after cooling with a bit of sea salt they can be stored in glass jar for a long time. I think the process would be the same as sun-dried tomatoes.
Hi!! Keep following you!! I wonder if you have already posted some video here about your house. I am very interested in doing the same but would like to know the overall costs and also if it's a good option for that climate too, thinking about the extreme cold and hot weather. Regards! Anabela
We've started a little bit, but won't be sharing about it on here until we're close to being finished. We think it's the best option for our climate, mostly for the heat. It doesn't get extremely cold here.
The secret to keeping the colour in beets is you must not cut them , don't top and tail them just cut the leaves as close to the beet without cutting into the veg 👍 just a good wash but never cut because the colour will just bleed out 👍
'Punkrock Excavation'. That's gonna give a Damned Clash to Portugese digger establishment I bet. The cooperation with your neighbours on the basis of trust, when there's substantial money involved, is just heartwarming to me. Socialism at it's smallest, but finest. According to some beliefs, children choose their parents. I would tell the youngsters around, that they didn't do very bad. Could've been worse.
Have you started to grow like your own pineapple and bananas and coconuts ?? What other veg and fruit are you growing. ??like blackcurrant/ strawberries / blueberries ,/ raspberries ?
If the digger has similar specs to name brand and performs just as well at a fraction of cost because you're not paying a premium for name brand only, those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. As long as you can use it to your goals. You may want to swap out those manual ratchet straps in the name of simplicity and laziness for a cam-buckle system instead and I have the perfect CZcams review video to sell you on that: czcams.com/video/XnZ2fTSwCWY/video.htmlsi=dcMDZ96dlwEEgRhD Urine is a miracle magic fertilizer too BTW so use it if you're not already.

I might bury the twine next year, if I can remember to set up the trellis before planting. But they’re quite stable now too
Congratulations with the new digger 🎉

We enjoy the volunteer sunflowers as the attract the birds. I don’t plant any.Love pickled beets. 😊Congratulations on your new digger and business!
I have some volunteers too! And I haven't planted borage in years, but I still have lots every year 😅

Thanks Lieuwina, we appreciate that 😊
Congrats on the new digger, hopefully many care free working days ahead.

@@Uriahheep1975 we had maybe 10 people look at it, but sure, it’s an easy repair 🤣
Love the video as always.....hope the landscaping business goes well. Good idea I think to have the neighbors contribute.
We were already looking to finance a new one, and they suggested to do it this way 😊
Such lovely children Leah.

It was a smart move with the digger!
That is great news about the new digger both as a new job but also to be able to start your dream home ❤

Great the digger looks great ✌️👏
Ons eet ook graag pannekoek met kaneelsuiker. Ons het dit by julle geleer amper 400 Jr gelede-ge erf by julle! Vanaf SA.
You're doing great! Try pancakes with honey and rum😉
Great to see your family growing and fantastic digger will be a godsend
The secret to keeping the color is to not cut the top off so far. I always leave 2-3 inches of the beet tops on and that preserves the color.
They go pink in the pickling vinegar either way, so I don't mind

Sounds like a great plan with the digger!
Our coping joke getting used to Portugal is "talvez proxima semana", a vague promise which basically means 6-12 months.
The guy who had the engine was actually English, but I guess he's integrated well 😂
How I wish I had even 300 Sq meters of your lot for my small house 😅... you're wealthy in many ways 😍😍.. enjoy your day ❤
👍👌
Since you like squash and pumpkins look up Hopi gray squash. They are a native American variety. Easy to grow and makes large squash.
Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind for next year.
I forgot how lovely pickled beets can be... thank you for the reminder.
The secret to keeping the colour in beets is you must not cut them , don't top and tail them just cut the leaves as close to the beet without cutting into the veg 👍 just a good wash but never cut because the colour will just bleed out 👍
Congratulations on the new digger business.
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I'm glad your digger is going to bring in some ekstra money 💰 😊 one step closer to your dream house 🏠 🎉
Gezellig koken met de kinderen...❤❤❤❤
Pickled eggs and beets yum!

Have you started to grow like your own pineapple and bananas and coconuts ?? What other veg and fruit are you growing. ??like blackcurrant/ strawberries / blueberries ,/ raspberries ?
Our climate is semi-arid, not tropical, so things like that don’t grow here. I have some berries growing, but not much.
A new digger, hurrah!
Congratulations on the digger
As my mother used to say teachers rest and mothers pest
I remember ❤when my mom made them pancakes
Goodness are you all still living in your yurt??
