Pilots Forgot to Retract the Landing Gear After Takeoff - Air India Flight 676 (Super realistic sim)

I am surprised that the 2 idiots noticed low fuel levels …
Monitoring fuel and other stuffs at every waypoint/fix is one of the works that pilots do during the flight. They gotta mention it in their papers.
No kidding.... hope they learned
Hopefully both pilots are now working in an environment that matches their competence level such as flipping burgers at Mcdonalds.
Both Pilots are still flying with the same airline. Just the capt was downgraded to a first officer and they were grounded for a while.

this is all PILOTS' ARROGANCE
@@MarengoGaming the vid said they were dismissed...

lol
Both pilots do not have the attention to detail needed to be commercial airline pilots.
“ Attention to detail” go further than that how about attention to every instrument on the flight deck. basically plus no ears no senses in your hands or feet to feel how you have to control the aircraft
They work for Garuda Airlines now.
They seemed to be satisfied with the mere fact the aircraft is flying in the air and not on the ground, everything else is unnecessary luxury! We can't reach 40,000 feet? "no problem 30,000 ft is good enough"! we can't reach 400 knots? "no problem 240 knots is still very fast, our ancestors used to travel on foot for days"!!
Aerosucre likely hired them.
@@g.w.7893 hired them? They’ll be training captains in no time.😂
At what point does the FO ask “Hey Cap, what are those 3 green lights for?!?” 😂😂
Airlines and regulations require a checklist be used for a reason. Clearly these 2 pilots didn't not follow the checklist, and completely ignored the 3 green landing lights on the annunciator planal being on the entire flight. Attention to detail is a must attribute for all airline pilots to have.
2 female 3rd world pilots to be precise
Unfortunately, "gear up" is not an item in the after takeoff checklist. Atleast, as much as I know. It's weird but it is what it is. Checklists most of the times are different in different airlines. But still has the items made mandatory by the manufacturer and the control authorities, such as FAA, DGCA etc. Gear is very important. So important that you have to do it even if it is not mentioned in the checklist.
its a blessing the landing gear didnt snap from air pressure.
At least the brakes were nice and cool.
My thoughts too (:
Now that’s funny😂😂😂
I guess for the first time they were to see the ground from that altitude! 😂
LOL! Yes. All of the brake dust was blown off.
What's weird is that the Airbus normally has a ton of safety alarm warnings that the computers detect. You'd think they'd have a "gear extended" warning once the planes gets above 10,000 feet or so. But apparently they didn't think of that. And traditionally, when the callout for 'positive rate' is called out, they are supposed to also say, 'gear up' and do just that!! But in the UK they say 'undercarriage up' because the British always have to have different names for things.
The British have the proper English names for things.
I had a British student once and he would call out "clear screw" instead of "clear prop" when starting the engine. The air screw is what it should be called because a propeller should be in the rear.
@@jimmorgan5612 👍 The Queen Mary(1936) was advertised as "quadruple-screw", not quadruple prop or some such.
My 2001 Jeep alerts me if my seatbelt isn't fastened. WTF, Airbus?
Exactly, once PRC is called standard procedure is to call for the gear to be retracted .. there is also warning lights on panel those two didn't see RED instead of three GREEN. ?
I used to fly a Piper Arrow built in the 60’s that had a gear up or gear down alarm based on airspeed and manifold pressure. I can’t believe this modern commercial jet doesn’t have an alarm.

Maybe the engineers never thought any pilot would ever forget to do that...
Besides the three lights on the panel, there would be severe drag on the plane with very noticeable handling differences, not to mention an increase in fuel consumption, and speed/time change. Pilots like that really shouldn't be flying.
You should watch the video.
Noticeable sound as well
Tje autopilot takes over flying the aircraft and doesn't notice things like that.
This is just a sad, sad story of a lack of experience, professionalism, and situation awareness, not to mention a lack of a good cross-check, after-takeoff checklist, climb checklist, etc. The list goes on. The fuel burn rate had to be enormous.
This is unbelievable im speechless
The scary thing is the pilots flew the rest of the trip ) :
@@NCLUSA No the scary thing is they were certified - I find it hard to believe they were extremely competent during type rating : for both of them to continue the whole duration of the flight and not notice about 10 instrumentation warnings or indications and about five physical parameters e.g. climb rate fuel use etc

What was ATC doing when a plane have an altitude less than the designated one.
They were admiring the three pretty green lights and sharing recipes; bet they drive their cars with the handbrake on.
And with The Engine Management Light Red still on.
Hahaha. Good one
Probably had the left blinker on for the entire flight😂
So. Not only drivers ignore idiot lights.
Please don't be unkind. Their sarees keep getting crumpled and need a lot of attention to keep them looking smart.
The equivalent of driving a car for miles with the parking brake on.
And... I see it all the time, usually with one of the turn signals to boot...
At least all ended well!
I've got to believe that when two female pilots realize that they'll be flying with another female... Their whole mindset changes.. From being on guard to loosen up quite a bit... Now they can really discuss all the topics they're interested in and that too non stop. Generally speaking, history has shown that when both the pilots know each well and are very comfortable with each other, flight safety can break down.
Apart from everything else, "Positive rate, flaps up" instead of 'gear up' could have caused a stall. From the lack of analytical and problem solving skills, neither seem to have the qualities to pass the test to become pilots in the first place. How were they allowed to fly a commercial plane?
2 female 3rd world pilots to be precise
If you like me have been in type training, you know the reality is far worse than this.
Just wait until the effect of #unitedairlines new DEI quota starts taking effect, where the focus is on skin color and gender, and not competence. Yes, they will say “but they have to be qualified”, yet the reality is that if there are not enough qualified applicants, then #unitedairlines will be forced to either pass unqualified applicants or (gasp) admit that there are not enough qualified applicants, which would make their little liberal heads explode. Statistically, having the top 50% of the class - ANY class - ending up as DEI eligible is impossible. Not because of race or gender, but because of statistics.
Don’t understand your comment. FYI I have 35 years as a 121 pilot, mostly captain and 800 hours on the Bus. Please explain
Quota and a beautiful face
As surrealistic as this seems, I can also see myself doing this. However, I don't think I could possibly normalize the "Oh, I guess the plane doesn't want to climb the last 8,000 feet or go 300kts faster today". I imagine the gear is forgotten more often than we realize, but checklist activities will identify this cause.
Thank you for a reasonable comment. Most ignorant commenters here fail to acknowledge that the pilots successfully landed the plane, intact, at an active airport with no harm to any passengers, then continued on safely to Dubai. Meanwhile, there are hundreds of videos out there of male pilots crashing their planes, maiming and killing hundreds of passengers due to stupidity in the cockpit.
What about the aircraft's computer and warning that the gear is still down in an overspeed condition for the gear down????
My question too.
Same question for me... What kind of crappy aircraft is this A320, if they don't even have a warning system, light or sound or both, installed? It's a terrible design flaw.
@@cornells.1727 They probably is but how blind do you have to be as the pilots- three green lights on where it should be Three red, fuel burn indicators remaining at takeoff levels, The gear handle which is deliberately a very obvious handle in the down and out position rather than the up and locked position every time your eyes glance around the cockpit or your hands move to the controls those and many more things should be completely obvious despite any design issues(although according to my sources airbus aircraft do indeed have warning chimes that will continue to go off if flying with gear extended and an alarm for exceeding gear down speed)!
@malcolmwhite6588 Well, if 320 really has such an alert system, then it malfunctioned. Which it's worth investigating as to why it did. Agreed with your points, about general awareness around you as a pilot, but nothing is better than a chiming system... Certainly not great pilots but the crappy 320 didn't help in this case either.
@@cornells.1727 yes hundred percent degree with that because there was no mention of the alarms or the functioning the of them
It's absolutely stimulating to realize what minor little errors can be remedied by simply running and completing the After Takeoff Checklist.
the incompetence level is unprecedented 0.0
Surely the noise if nothing else, was an obvious indication!
We had actual checklists back when I was in the Navy
I can't believe that nowadays with all of the available technology this kind of events could happen. And how come airlines have no central information center to receive information from planes (like more in depth) and be able to message the pilots if some issue was not been taken care of.. It's like all those computers, sensors and communication equipment serves almost no purpose.
Humans usually procrastinate, get distracted, etc. While computers rarely fail in planes. There is so much potential to avoid human error. And still.. haha :-b
Lol come on people!! This not REAL!! it's a Flight simulator GAME!!😄😃😀
You would think alarm bells should have been going off after the plane would not go higher than 24,000 feet. It seems to me that the pilots must have been high or on something to miss this mistake for the whole entire flight until the landing.

Couldn't they see the three lights on that means the gears are down and locked I can't believe this and the drag And the feeling of the aircraft I can't believe this
Rookie mistake. In my little single engine piston retract, if I EVER hear myself saying something like; "The plane isn't climbing very well today" or "We aren't getting very good speed", it is ALWAYS time to do a quick check of everything and discretely fix it.
Everybody make mistakes but this one is totally unprofessional conduct for pilots! With three green lights illuminating, higher noise from the wheel wells, higher fuel burn and severe climb/speed performance degradation what are we carrying two pilots for???
And the list would go on further than that to me more The fact that they clearly didn’t think there was a problem or question all the red flags to consult any quick reference, guides or checklist because any of them would’ve said gear down down check- stuck down for example it would be one of the checklist for excess noise blah blah blah there would so many ones that would have checked gear and the other thing is the most basic thing after positive rate of climb after take off is gear up
It's strange they didn't notice
@@franktrovato2311 More than strange - absolutely gobsmacking and it’s not only not to notice the gear down lights but it’s the noise , the performance , the fuel use -so so many factors as I said above
Two pilots are apparently there to admire green lights, add extra weight to the flight deck thus increasing fuel burn, & decide where to make unscheduled stops to refuel.
They love their jobs. They usually manage to take off whenever they dash down a runway, so management loves them too. Why bother with pesky checklists, anyways? 😡
😁
@@dexterpoindexter3583 not gonna hire you, Dexter -they should’ve been observing three red lights : three green light means the gear was still down!😂
This video reminds me of an incident that happened to me about 30 years ago. I found an inexpensive flight from San Francisco to London on a charter. What this means is some company sold tickets and then contracted with an airline to provide teh airplane. A few weeks before the flight I found that an Indian Airline would be used. I was curious so I looked up the safety record. Unlike other airlines which publish their saftely record, I found that at that time India did not publish these records because they were so bad. They were considered one of the most dangerous airlines to fly with. I hanged my flight.
Lo mejor de lo mejor muchas gracias saludos cordiales 💯🇺🇲 bendiciones ✈️🙏🙌🎉
AI is well known for hiring just any pilot from anywhere, with just a few hours experience in flying on a particular airframe . . .
Wow, so the landing gear did not rip off? Either that gear is super strong, or they got lucky. Man if I did that in a jet fighter in War Thunder, my gear would have ripped off a long time ago.
Thank heavens
Well green means go. And three green means you are really good to go!
Micheal Scott was the captain
Kinda surprised that they didn't bring the landing gear up when they landed.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
What fantastic animations/renderings! Very realistic! I can´t understand how you can manage this.
Dismissed? Rightly so. If it had been something they'd missed that could cause a crash directly, I'm afraid it might be a far worse incident.
That could cause a crash directly aircraft are not meant to fly at high-speed with gear down. It could cause some form of structural failure, but certainly could run out of fuel and it could cause controllability issues Had They run into bad weather and exceeded the safe speed.
They kept hearing a warning voice. It was in English. One of them said, "What is it saying," not in English.
I think at least one passenger asked the stewardess why the wheels were still down. She said, "Not my job."
Surprised that a passenger didn’t say something to a flight attendant about it…
My car has an audio alarm in addition to lights for an open door.
Seatbelts unlatched too.
The "flaps up" after the "positive rate" call was bad enough, but the PM actually raising the flaps in a low altitude, low airspeed nose high attitude takes the cake! Then failing to do an after takeoff checklist...WOW! That's it...just WOW!
Nice vid ❤❤❤
Wonder if they flew commando that day, too.
🤣🤣😂🥵🥵
'Pilots are also surprised why and how the cabin crew or passengers did not complain of noise and vibrations associated with flying at lower altitudes' 😆 you can't count on those passengers!
The A320 doesn't have an alarm telling pilots the gear is down if the plane is above a certain altitude ?
Apparently not. Just the panel lights.
I think yes if it is above a certain operational speed .@@MPCFlights
Sounds like a bunch of errors. Complacency so they probably were not following an official checklist after takeoff You would think that, when they realized that the ascent rate was less than normal, there should be an immediate checklist that would have included the status of the landing gear. They were already on autopilot so they certainly had the time to do those checks. The only two smart things that they did were to divert when it became obvious that fuel was going to be an issue and when they realized that the gear was still down during approach they kept focus on a safe landing. I’m surprised that the onboard systems wouldn’t have raised an alarm for this. That’s a 2015 AirBus which should have relatively advanced computers that are monitoring status for issues. Gear down above a threshold altitude or above a certain airspeed should be cause for an audible and visual alarm.
The excess fuel consumption, pollution, stress upon the engines and the landing gear mounts is...😖
So, no after take off checklist or any other situational awareness raising attention to the "three green" - This is really odd. How did this crew manage to fly in the first place? Or were they so fatigued?
It’s been 20 years since l was a AB 320 captain, but isn’t there a configuration horn with the flaps up and gear down?
I don't think so with a high power setting, which fooled the computer. When they throttled back in the approach the gear was already down...
@@TheMaximac That’s right. Now l remember. Thanks
In the good old days of pilots being able to use their hands and feet to fly, you could feel a $ recognise the drag in your backside.
No flashing warning light or warning sound when the gear is down in mid-flight?
How do you forget to retract the landing gear? Isn't that done right after takeoff?
Strange that even in our cars their is buzzer for seatbelt and if handbrake is engaged, but airliners carry no buzz for extended gear 😂😂😂😂
There has to be some warning system for this kind of issue you would think built into the planes warning system with the amount of sensors on the plane
Airlines in India hire U if the interviewer knows your father, uncle or 3rd cousin.
Wait a minute ! ?, no alarms "?" . I mean, despite the not noticing by the pilots..
I mean, telemetry to help distracted pilots seems so easy to implement.. And it would allow for a backup mesure to avoid these events from happening at all. And instead of suspension, turn these events to call for attention if they have to be reminded of such a thing.
Wish you had included the extreme weather conditions that prevailed at that time in your video. There were a few wind shear warnings as well before they departed.
Astounding. More astounding than leaving the gear down is the failure to react to the huge and obvious abnormal performance that they were clearly aware of.
I still can' brain it out.. With mcc crm, this should not happened. with memory call out on t/o plus after take off cx list, how could this happened??
And the airplane system DID NOT SHOW that the gear was down at an unreasonable altitude?
What the heck? Did they not look, or was it not insistent or clear a warning?
INTERFACE ERROR.
This is why they have checklists, clearly not on Air India! Clearly no automate alarm system either.
This would be hard to miss. You’d think there’d be an alarm?
I am sorry the ladies lost their jobs ...but when two pilots in the same cockpit show the same level of mindlessness, maybe they need a break. I am sure they are otherwise good pilots and eventually picked up work with another airline.
they have their jobs with the same airline. and good point, the weather was really bad that day. it was a genuine error which should have been rectified in troubleshoot phase of flight.
In the US, the pilot's union will save the pilots jobs no matter what their level of incompetence. These pilots were evidently let go.
Incredible.
surely the autopilot would signal that the wheels are down?
The question is "what else did they forget?" Too much partying the night before? Now you know why I break out in a sweat and start shivering at the sight of an airport.
5:10 *The gear doors aren't ripped off?*
You do excellent work on your videos thank you ❤
You are so welcome
While sorry the ladies lost their jobs, and glad the aircraft landed before it ran out of fuel, this was an extraordinary error. Okay, I guess it's possible to momentarily forget to raise the wheels during takeoff, but you would have thought that one of them would have soon realised, with the slow rate of climb, inability to reach correct cruising altitude, warning lights on the panel, then the high fuel consumption due to the drag . . . As commented here, you might have thought that with all today's technology the aircraft would also issue a voice warning.
At least it was just the gear. Pilots before them forgot to set the flaps on takeoff and crashed. Northwestern 255 was the deadliest for this type of error.
I can't help but think the presenter included the irrelevant detail that they were "female" because he knew it would generate a lot of idioric comments, yours being one of a few exceptions.
I am surprised some kind of warning light doesnt show when something like this happens ...
Incredible...
Stranger yet, why didn't a passenger see the wheels down and bring it to the flight attendant's attention??? All aircraft should have surveilance cameras covering the bottom and top of the aircraft...we have dash cams in our cars..but not on airliners....amazing. Yes, pilots should have been researching why the plane was not performing correctly...neither of them are analytical enough to be in that job.
there is an alarm for everything , except that ?
It is hard to believe they did not react to the noise of flying with the gear down.
Wow! A delay of only 3 hours and 45 minutes! That's at least three hours less than the usual delay Air India experiences on a normal day.
I've never flown much, and certainly have never achieved a pilot's license, but whenever Im driving, in either my car or truck, I do pay close attention to the instruments on the dashboard. Don't these airliners have indicators telling pilots such information? If so, these pilots obviously pay no attention to the instruments on board
Two Indian female pilots
Passengers must have prayed hard when they realised
no one saw the 3 bright red or green landing gear lights illuminated on panel???? must not been working
Always was a challenge no over speeding the gear after takeoff had to pull power in climb until gear was up in the A-4
Keep the brakes cool..there was a small saving there in disks ect. 😂
What is the official procedure after takeoff? Whose responsibility is it to say, "gear up?"
Reminds me of another Air India incident many years ago. It was coming to land at Tullamarine airport in Melbourne, and forgot to lower the landing gear. I guess their pilots are as well trained, as their medical practitioners. 😂
I wonder there is know warning light for this case and pilot and co- pilot were not punished
no after take off check list completion and no instrument panel monitoring. neither looked at the instrument panel well enough to notice any anomalies.
And this--ladies and gentlemen--is how a person gets the nickname 'Geardown'.
Both of these pilots were awarded with two range rovers from the factories
Are they working as inspectors for Boeing now?
For the dumb comments down there, this is a flight simulator called MSFS2020
Which kind of pilot was this
You are a professional pilot how can you for get to retract the landing gear after take-off
These two female 'pilots' severe inability to trouble shoot what was happening on the flight deck and with the plane, explains why there was ZERO awareness that the landing gear was down throughout the entire flight until they were forced to divert to another airport. They should be charged with endangering the lives of all the passengers and the other crew members and their 'pilot' licenses revoked.
I wonder why those two female pilots made such an incredible mistake?
How fitting that after a monumental phuckupp, they landed off to the right of the centerline on a nice VFR day. Flying, experience counts. A LOT.
I am surprised there is no after take off chk list and no automatic alarm system in such a modern aircraft at least at 3000 altitude it should have some warning system.
Shouldn't they see a far above-normal fuel burn rate?
I think this gets checked at every waypoint
Yeah, as well als IAS, climbspeed, EPR required.
It just should raise some questions.
Rather than polish their nails they should have investigated that or return to departure airport
@@pascalcoole2725 The nail thing is one of the reasons why I panic with female pilots. In fact, before the war, I preferred Russian airlines, they had only male pilots, some of them drunk, but I felt safer than with females at the stick.
