How To Clean Really Greasy And Dirty Things

A few years ago I acquired a box of old bicycle parts, and a couple old bicycle frames. I recently sold one of the frames (I[m holding on to the other one) and the box of parts, but I kept a box which had nuts, bolts, etc. for bicycles. It was highly greasy with the thick, black grease that doesn't come off easily and I wanted to use the box to store coins in 2x2 holders since it is the perfect size for them. Dawn dish detergent and warm water didn't cut the grease, or should I say make the cut. Fortunately, the powdered Tide, not the liquid laundry detergent, was able to easily remove the grease. It worked and now I have an old, plastic box which I can use.
