    Every Freemason has their own story or reason for what motivated them to ask to join the Fraternity. This is my story.
    In essence, I noticed that I had many friends who were Freemasons. I figured since I trust my friends then the fraternity must be a good place. Since they were members, I wanted to be a member and learn more about it.

    My great Grandpa was a Free Mason when he was killed in a freak accident, The lodge bought a piece of property and a house for his widow and helped her to raise their children. I joined to help give back and pay it forward. After being saved and marrying my wife , the best thing I ever done

    • @WhatisaMason

      At some point, none of us were a part of this Fraternity. They have to turn somewhere to ask questions and learn. Sometimes people aren't good at asking questions and instead open with offering an opinion - which is a great lesson for them to learn... Grammar, Rhetoric... etc., etc.

    Hello Sir. I live in the UK. I found out that some of my colleagues are Freemasons. I spoke to 1 of them about Freemasonry and how to join the fraternity. He said that he will "sort that out" and get back to me soon. What would you think he meant by that? Should I wait until he contacts me about a possible petition or should I ask for an explanation of how it all works and how long the process will realistically take? Thank you for any help you can give.

    • @WhatisaMason
      @WhatisaMason  Před 6 lety

      I think an explanation about the process is reasonable to ask for. He might be "sorting that out" by getting you a petition, or by ensuring there is another person willing to sign it (as it typically takes 2 signatures).

    I may have one of the strangest stories out here when it comes to becoming a Freemason. In my situation, I was always intrigued with the mystery of it, but what drove me in was.. it kept showing up everywhere. I kept having dreams of this old mansion with a steel gated fence and shaking hands with someone whom I could not identify in the dream, but he had a masonic ring on. I kept having these dreams over and over, so finally I contacted The Grand Lodge of Ohio and the told me someone would contact me which they did a few weeks later, I set up a meeting and then arrived at the same mansion I had it in my dreams. Obviously, a few things were different from the dream, like the fence that surrounded the house was brick. Months later, I came to find out while learning the history of the house that it indeed did have a steel fence that was scrapped during World War II and replaced with a brick fence. Amazing, right! But, the downside is when someone asks me, "What brings you to Freemasonry?" I tend to be kind of skeptical on whether to tell the story or not. People think you are nuts when you tell them stuff like this! It is the truth, though! 😂
    I love the videos, BTW. Keep up the good work!

    I'm not sure what the lodge does. I thought about talking to my friends about it. I noticed two of my friends are in it, one is a tattoo artist that is a mason and my other friends a lawyer in the lodge. I see at gun shows masons doing donations, and I thought that was amazing. Just wondering if it was for me... It seems like the donation views is what got me thinking the most. I quit drinking and I'm trying to find out something new to get into that is positive. I'm a Catholic, but wasn't raised with religious views. Now I'm seeing the views different because of my mindset. What is a good reason for me to join? If I may ask.

    • @WhatisaMason
      @WhatisaMason  Před 6 lety +1

      Well, not knowing you I cannot say what might be a specific reason for YOU to join, but I can share some things that I have heard from others. Generally most people really enjoy the friendship and fellowship of the Fraternity. While you may or may not have a similar experience with your church (it seems to be hit or miss) in Freemasonry when you call for assistance, it comes. Be it that your car broke down, that you lost your job, that you are ill, that a family member passed, or whatever. The Brethren love knowing that there are other like-minded people who are ready to jump up and help at a moments notice.
      Trying to lay that aside there is the intellectual side - where we try to view everything from multiple angles. Analyzing their impact on us and humanity and wondering what we can learn from the past and how to apply it to today to make ourselves better people. This is, in part, the symbology used in Freemasonry, but so much more as well.

    • @wraith9112
      @wraith9112 Před 5 lety

      One of the first things I was told about Freemasonry is that one of it's goals is to make good men better. Each person comes to masonry for different reasons, some for fellowship others for growth. For me one of the benefits is knowing that I have a group of men that I can talk to about problems I may be having and they will listen without judgement. They will offer advice and help. Charity to your fellow man is important in masonry, it's not about some secret plot to take over the world like the tin foil hat wearers believe. I always tell people to go to a meeting and get to know the members, you may find out you know some of them already. Lastly, I travel a lot for work and it's a great feeling to know that I can go to a lodge almost everywhere I travel. This gives me a chance to meet new people and the comfort to know that I can find help if needed. I've even met fellow masons from other countries. I would recommend watching the Netflix special on Inside FreeMasons. It shows some good examples of how Mason care for each other.

    • @WhatisaMason

      Linda, the organization known as "Freemasonry" generally requires young men to be 18 or 21 before joining. However, there are youth organizations for both boys and girls that are associated with the organization. You can learn a little about them here: czcams.com/video/XAYuYB5iO6o/video.html
      As to education - no, there are no requirements. You could have never received a day of formal education in your life and still become a Freemason. However, learning is expected inside a lodge, including the ability to recite lines from memory. But that should never discourage anybody, as the fraternity is full of people who love to teach others.

NASA/us government hiding the bones of the giants from the Bible 10-30ft tall nephilin skeletons, telling people Columbus was the first to discover this country when ppl from all over have been proven to be here hundreds of years earlier, faked the moon landing, 9/11, Oklahoma city bombing, princess Diana death, Kennedy, black church shooting on and on and on. There used to be a real world group called the illuminati who hoped to overthrow all the governments and institute a religiously tolerant world government. Aside from meeting themselves they also met in lodge meetings. It was such a hot topic back in the day that when the French Revolution broke out everyone assumed it was due to the illuminati (which had long been disbanded at that point) and thus the Freemasons. So as a result masonry was banned in many countries or regulated. Hence why people think Illuminati= Freemasonry

    What is the reason you have to believe in a higher being ?

    • @WhatisaMason
      @WhatisaMason  Před 6 lety +7

      That's a good Q for a Q&A video. Since it will be a while before it comes out, let me summarize:
      At the risk of oversimplifying it the point is that if you do not believe in a higher being then what, exactly, is to keep you to your word. You could take an oath and forsake it without any fear of reprisal. Freemasons believe that we will, in some way, shape, or form, be held accountable for whether or not we performed those things here on earth that we agreed to.

    • @laurasfar18
      @laurasfar18 Před 6 lety +1

      What is a Mason Well, for me there's two options:
      The first one is, that someone or something is behind the universe and made some sort of balance system, so you will have to stand up for what you did, after your life ends. (Something like that)
      The second option is that it's all just random and when our body stops functioning, it disintegrates and that's it. No soul or whatsoever.
      To be honest i believe mostly that the first option is the truth, or close to it. But my logic and all the fraud in the world i also holds me back to say i'm 100% sure. It's a very deep subject, but can a guy with my view or doubt, be a freemason some day ? Or do a mason have to be convinced that there is a creator ?
      Oh and by the way, i don't think that atheists are less comitted or honest to whar they ha e sworn, but i still respect your rules 😁

    • @WhatisaMason
      @WhatisaMason  Před 6 lety +2

      I think it is also possible to believe that a deity created the universe, the world, whatever, but that it does not involve itself with our daily affairs. In Freemasonry you don't have to believe, as the Christian might, that God notices every sparrow that falls. You only have to recognize that there is a deity.
      Also, at least here in Mississippi, being agnostic, that is, not knowing if Deity exists or not, is equal to being an atheist. We don't condemn atheists, but we don't accept them into our fraternity either.

      If you understand what the words actually mean, and don't put an unintended religious twist on it, then it isn't a problem. Mayors of cities have been called Worshipful for centuries. Master has been a term used for ages to denote the person who is in charge of a group, or who has mastered a subject matter. Since we use the same term for our small local groups, the person in charge of the larger group gets the additional "Grand" moniker. That's all. No Freemason would dream or dare of using the word "Master" or "Worshipful" in a religious context when addressing another mortal man.

Jesus was called many names throughout the scriptures, so whether you pray to Jesus, The Word (Logos), Christ, Lord, Son of God, Son of Man, Son of David, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Rabboni, or even King of the Jews, you are still praying to Jesus Christ.

    Wisdom 14:23-31
    23 They murdered children in their initiation rituals, celebrated secret mysteries, and held wild ceremonial orgies with unnatural practices. 24 They no longer kept their lives or their marriages pure. A man might kill another by an act of treachery or cause him grief by committing adultery with his wife.25 Everything was a complete riot of bloody murder, robbery, deceit, corruption, faithlessness, disorder, falsehood,26 harassment of innocent people, ingratitude, moral decay, sexual perversion, broken marriages, adultery, and immorality. 27 The worship of idols, whose names should never be spoken, is the beginning and the end, the cause and the result of every evil. 28 People who worship them lose control of themselves in ecstasy, or pass off lies as prophecies, or live wickedly, or break their word without hesitation. 29 They tell lies under oath and expect no punishment, because the idols they put their trust in are lifeless.30 But punishment will finally catch up with them, for two reasons: first, they were in error about God when they worshiped idols, and second, they had so little regard for holiness that they made false statements to deceive people. 31 When unrighteous people commit sin, they will be hunted down, not by the power of whatever thing they swear by, but by the punishment that sinners deserve.
