30k players? That is a catastrophe! Why Sony wants to delist 180 countries is beyond my understanding. If the game dies, then this is the biggest fumble I've seen a company make!

this is actually, ironically, not the first time sony has murdered a successful live-service game of theirs. they actually wrote the rule book on destroying a successful live-service game back in 2006. business courses were taught about it. and im of course talking about when sony released the death-of-a-game patch that overnight destroyed starwars galaxies, a very successful mmorpg at the time.

its definitely why ive almost stopped, most weapons and call ins just feel useless and frustrating to use so i end up with like 1 or 2 loadouts that are viable and just get bored af, same with armors 90% garbage because they have dumb perks i cannot change and do not want to use

I think the problem was the spawn rates being at 100%, instead of being 25% per player

This is basic math something that even a bloody beginner dev should be able to do correctly and double check his own work before implementing the change. These balance devs need to be replaced. First they boost spawn rates saying it is now as intended, now that player counts have dropped they walk it back saying it isn't as intended. SMH

The fact they donât have pre set load outs bugs me. The fact that they nerfed guns after buffed them and the enemies are harder to kill. Iâm an old gamer there is nothing wrong with a 4 player co op game that is broken. Nothing at all. Castle Crashers was amazing and broken AF. Do they want us to kill things for democracy or avoid killing for Communism. Iâm not sure anymore. The armor and guns are sad bro đ Iâm not buying ANY new armor or guns I donât need. Give us an extra strat or allow us to carry two main weapons and it takes away a stratagem. Add new stratagem. I don't think they would have worked so hard to get Sony to reverse the account linking decision if they didn't intend to get those players back, so I'm optimistic that they will be able to come back. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.

I wonder how many people from those countries who had the game but refunded were lost. The game was already losing players before the PSN debacle, and the balancing issues combined with the spawn rates have contributed more to the decline than the Sony nonsense.đđđ
So the big issue I have is that the war is just a massive stalemate where Joel isnât letting us win or lose. I stopped playing 2-3 weeks ago but when I came back the bot front is exactly the same, and whatâs worse is that the bug front hasnât been allowed to move since the original TCS activation order.
That's not joel. That's the community not caring about the war in general and just playing wherever they feel like it. Current MO is bots yet majority of the playerbase is on bugs. If you cared about war progress then play on the planet with the most people. But people dont, which is fine. People can play wherever they want. But it is not by Joel's design that there's a stalemate.
I would love the spawn rates if the weapons didn't fire marshmallows.
It would be so satisfying to chew through these hoards with some of the weapons in their prime, and more fun if the others kept pace.

You'd expect when you progress through a game the weapons from the warbonds would be a little better than the previous pages worth of warbonds. Otherwise there wouldn't be any point in getting those new weapons. When a weapon is worse than the weapon we start with, something is wrong.
Bot rocket spam is crazy at times!! You drop in and get ragdolled all over the place. It can be a little too much!
This happens to me sometimes and itâs absolutely annoying. When everyone is together and fighting the same target then itâs never a issue
Ya, Iâve started to refer to the game as âRagdoll Simulator.â Game mechanics that constantly immobilize you and take you out of play are aggravating. And it seems to just continually get worse whether youâre getting shot by a rocket or stepping on a gas plant. Itâs just not really fun anymore. The bleeding of players started way before the Sony thing exploded. This game has been brewing serious problems for a while now.

Here is a concept that Arrow Head might want to look into.... "Rollback".
If they are prepared to allocate resources to make changes to this 'live service' then they should also be prepared to allocate resources to monitor the release and be prepared to roll it back if it "doesn't work as expected".
It isn't really acceptable to 'fix forward' in a live product or leave these issues out in the wild for extended periods when the feedback from the community is clear from day 1.
As I have said on other sites / channels, the real issue is morale.
The Perfect storm of Sony Fuckery (Corperate Greed / PSN issue) and AH Fuckery (making the game a lot less fun to play), morale of the people who cared about the game is at an all time low.
Casuals will be casuals, they don't care about MOs, They just want to shoot stuff, bugs or bots and they wouldn't have noticed any changes to the game at all.
Those invested though, are those who will try to do defense missions, repeatedly drop on Hellmire / Menkent, places where the casuals hate to go, are players who have been over the past 2 months seen repeated instances of fun being taken out of the game in the name of "Balance".
This game is PVE and you already have difficulty levels of which level 8 and 9 can be insane even before the nerfs.
Balancing should have been for fun, not because xxx number of people are using one weapon more than others.
I hope we see that with other companies too going forward. If they wrong you, vote with your Wallet and your playtime. People don't understand how much power they CAN have in things like this, don't just take everything those big companies force on you.

I think a lot has lead to the numbers: the war being a endless stalemate, weapon nerfs of peoples fav guns again and again, patrols being set to discourage how you want to play, and lastly the player base and attacks on people that speak out against something in the game.
The balance department and the illumination taking so long to come to the game are the main reasons why folks donât care for the major orders and just arenât playing the game at all

Most of my friends, who were playing for hours a month ago, stopped playing because they kept nerfing the "fun guns" to play. It's sad. I do hope they reverse some of the nerfs "railgun looking at you" so that they will come back and we can get more soldiers for democracy.

My guys and me also stopped playing HD2, rarely we jump into 1 or 2 rounds, but not because the stuff that you mentioned, rather because it just got boring doing the same stuff again and again and again, they NEED to drop actual new content đ

Any MO involving the bots is like pulling teeth because the kill rate compared to bugs vs bots is drastically unbalanced. Until they fix bots overall we'll continue to see numbers in the crapper.

I don't understand the complaints from people. The game is pretty balanced and helldive difficulty, while hard, can be beat pretty routinely without issue. Get gud and stop complaining
I honestly feel like the player numbers dropping is also due to the lack of meaningful content thats been added to the game recently. We had the sony thing happen too but i think a lot of people really want the balance changes but also we really want to see new enemy types and factions. I know i was super excited and still am about the potential worm enemy for the bug planets and i want them to start adding stuff like that. I think it would boost interest in the game more.

I find the Bots easier to fight now than the Bugs (at mid difficulties) since the spawn rate changes they last made, as well as the changes to how the bugs attack. Hunters used to only hit you once maybe twice, now they three and four tap you which will instant kill you in most armors. And there are just too many of them if you don't have a full squad. Verse the Bots, even at lower numbers most of them stay back a bit, so you can just work around the spawns via explosives and ordinance.
Bots are Easier to fight now than Bugs at mid difficulties (Still harder at higher difficulties) which is really backwards. In general the bots should be harder to fight period, but because they don't just run up and swarm you, they are now easier at mid difficulty and they don't triple and quad tap you in the head as average bots anyway, they fire once each.
They really need to fix the bug spawns and/or how they fight, if the hunters are going to just annihilate you even in heavy armor now, their needs to be less of them.
The whole thing scaling down less so there are more enemies than player ratio is just ridiculous. This should be a fairly easy fix, they even said they could just flip the spawnsback. Temporarily just revert it now, then tweak it overtime. We all preferred it before their tweak, they can take their time tweaking it more after they revert it if you ask me. Though, I understand in general where they are coming from for wanting to do it right this time, but don't leave it in a state people like less for longer if you can do something in-between in the meantime.
That's just me though.
Worth noting. The bots spawn in half the numbers of the bugs while bringing a whole different experience and heap of ranged hardware (and those napalm-bomb-vest jump-pack bots) that happily rag doll spam you outta nowhere.
If the devs had any sense bot-kill MOs would be maybe 2/3 that if bugs given their lower side airy and way higher annoyance factor (bugs may be tougher but the bits have way more chip-damage available)

Did they do something to spawn rates lately? Last night, lvl 4 felt easy again. I bumped it up to lvl 6, and it felt like the lvl 4 from a few days ago.
I somewhat like the idea of elemental weaknesses (fire for bugs, shock for bots), we could even have gas be strong against illuminids. (I think gas is underutilized anyway.)
However I wouldn't like it to ever be too strong of an advantage. I worry players will decide that it's never viable to run anything other than specific, elemental loadouts. I want this game to remain in a state where virtually any loadout is viable in a typical mission.
I love this idea. fire is alrdy stronger against bugs, but electric dmg bonus to bots and even a gas dmg bonus to illuminate? that all fits so perfectly, thematically. and as you said, the game needs to work w this so it's not such a massive dmg bonus that elements become hard metas against said enemies. otherwise, brilliant.
Wasn't the bug MO glitched that counted every kill as 4
Major Order is 4 fold harder:
1: Bug that over-reported the amount is not there too boost per mission
2: Automotons dont come in the same amount per patrol/bot drop as the bugs
3: Patch that boost patrols makes it harder for a segment of the divers
4: Player amount that are pusing for the Major Order is not the same
Always look forward to your videos! But itâs sad to see a drop in player base, major orders certainly are going to be a lot harder to achieve which really sucks, they definitely got to fix this đ

theyre not called "buggers" for nothing. we had a shot at the order if they had come to collect scrap instead of fighting bugs all day.
Well - on the patrol rates thing - getting Sony/Valve to rectify the issue isn't a coding problem, and it's not something an Arrowhead employee can alter (beyond Pilestadt and other management staff continuing to bug them over it). The past couple of weeks have also had the Polar Patriots warbond release (which they were still doing weapon tests on the week before it released, and with bugfixes and corrections still ongoing), and a heckload of crash-fixes getting bumped to their top of their list. Four pretty hefty patches have dropped in just the past two weeks.
It's very easy to forget just how many different things they've been working on simultaneously with the Sony thing.

I am currently not playing since I got a bet with a friend to finish Xcom2 in as few days as possible - I hope when I get back to helldivers in a couple weeks that they sort out some bugs, or add some more meaningful choices to armor. (I am fine with weapon balancing - You can play at least one or two guns of each category, and most stratagems work well up to difficulty 7 too.)
Mainly I dont want to do another mission on a fire tornado planet with these things chasing me while not having some sort of fireproof armor.
Honestly during this order I have been having great fun completing missions with my friends and we each bring the auto turret and mortar, completing the 40 min long missions and then leaving one heavy bot fabricator running clearing the rest of the map we sit down at evac and run the clock down we make almost 1000 kills doing this on suicide level but also we tried it on level 4 and we made 850 kills doing the same thing. The only difference between the two is that we have more heavies to deal with and they are worth more points. We purposely let bots call in reinforcements before killing them and we usually get away with less than 2 deaths for the whole team.
We are at the point where our primary weapons take a full mag to drop most enemies, we have had a total mag/decrease across the board and even a small outbreak drains all ammo.
It is like the devs hate us having fun.
Decommissioned bots could be split up into multiple operations based on number of helldiver's currently playing rather than all in one operation. Have a pleasant day!
I've got an idea. Imagine if HellDivers 2 had a worlds stage for Epsorts n it was just the top 100 teams of 4 not fighting against each other but dropping in together all at once just to fight for democracy in different sectors while we all cheer for them!!
Watching them speed run their game is quite funny. I remember getting off work at like 8-9am and get home there would be like 250k-300k people on and now I saw thereâs 30k lmao.

Well, the 2bil bug mission was bugged. It multiplied the teams total kill by the amount of players. So if you had 4 players that all got 200 kills for a total of 800 kills, it then multiplied that by 4 for a total of 3200 kills. Thats why we got through it so fast. They fixed that bug for the bot order. With that in mind, i think we are doing a grand job on the bots. As for the 180 countries thing goes, it was said that they can still play if they already bought the game, they just cant buy new copies of the game at the moment.

Most of my friends left with the Sony issue - but I kept playing a few weeks more until the Eruptor nerf. I still really love the game, but at lvl 103 - everything unlocked and capped resources for when new content is released - I think I'm just going take a break from it until some new content comes out.
7:50 I've already noticed a change in the patrol spawn rate. It's already way more manageable when soloing 1-6.
I don't know how it is higher because I rarely do those unless in full group.

In addition to the recent debacles, burnout and the new game season is hitting hard. Plenty of people moving on to other games that just came out or games that dont have these issues.
So 30k players on a wednesday when summer is just getting started and the weather is nice outside makes sense to me. We can't expect everyone to play the game as long as before. I jump on for 1 Operation a day now. I'm still playing, just not for my previous 4 hours a night. ALSO, folks might be running out of things to unlock now that they've put the time in to play. Many players will probably feel like they've accomplished plenty in the game so I never expected the game to keep over 100k concurrent all the way into next year. Will have to wait and see, but I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon. For me and many others, this campaign is a marathon, not a race.
Could definitely feel those low numbers. Ran with a new friend last night and we had a number of issues, including no backup showing up during long missions. Another was of course having to deal with multiple At Ats throughout the mission. Two were literally dropped at the same time.
At least if Sony had the linking required for crossplay I could understand registering. Otherwise lock pc players to only play with other pc players. This would allow those in non PSN countries to still play without cutting them off completely. They would just lose crossplay access.

Tbh while the player counts definitely have an impact, I think the 2 billion bot major order is being affected a bit more by the fact that there are less enemies permission in automaton missions than there are in bug missions. Not by a margin either, by quite a lot.

Honestly I've done enough within the game, defended Lady Liberty on both fronts in randoms but mostly solo (Thanks spawn rate patch I suuuuure love it), the constant terrible "balance" patches and all the debacles of late is killing the mood. I'll probably return in 6 months or if Super Earth is besieged, but for now I'm gonna sing a little song.

I wouldn't say make the patrols correct. We where getting 1/6 of the patrols in solo play when the original goal was 1/4. Apparently they messed up the code because what we getting is full patrols as with we are playing with 4 players. Simply put they needed to nudge the needle but ended up giving it a field goal kick
Itâs the balancing too on top of everything. I myself donât even want to play because it doesnât feel fun having to unload 2 mags into every enemy and spawn rates make me want to bash my head against the desk. To me the game went from drink a few beers and kill everything in site to playing a stealth game đđđ
To address your last point,
While i'm all for damage modifers favoring one thing or another, shock damage should deffo do more damage to bots than bugs. The difficulty curve isn't as great as your making out, it's a strat change. Bugs get in your face so powerful close quarter weapons are favoured making them easier to kite and control or deney access. Bots are primarily ranged, find good cover and duck and dive your way around them and you won't have problems, if there are fewer of you or you are struggeling, try not alerting every patrol you encounter.
my friends and I often run helldive diff and t's not uncommon for us to break into pairs to maximise ground covered and limit the risk of engagument, this is both for bugs and bots.
The games need flares, either like avp flares or, and this is the ones I would like, a flare you can fire in the sky, in night missions of course, the lighting and atmosphere it would add to the game would be great, what you think youtube
đ im currently sitting at level 94 on Helldivers and even i am struggling to find some enjoyment in the game atm and i dont think im alone in this with the amount of nerfs and changes to the game that have removed a lot of fun from the game as well as Sony F***king everything and everyone over. i can see why we have a drastically reduced player count and i think AH needs to really do something to fix it before it gets worse. i will still keep playing the game cause theres still alot that im looking forward to but this feels like a super low moment for Helldivers 2 atm. Hopefully something big happens soon to keep us interested cause if AH doesnt do that then we will just keep losing more players

The wombo combo of nerfing everything into the ground and doubling the patrol spawn rates really has hurt the playerbase's fun.

đđđ I think there is also a factor of burnout, yeah the gameplay loop is fun as hell but after constant gameplay over time it tires you out, so some take a couple of days to play other things or just read a book.
