The Trans pan does not have to be removed.
This is a common problem for Mercedes, Chrysler, Dodge, & Jeep vehicles as the Oring usually gets bad over time. Luckily the part is cheap to replace.
These are the specific parts you need to get (Check to make sure you get the part that is compatible with your vehicle).

Exactly what I needed to see, attemtped this in the driveway on ramps got everything back together right and could not for the life of me get the plug seated enough to tighten the screw, trying again tomorrow

All back together, fortunately speed sensor 2 is reading, however the 1-2 clutch pack got pretty beat up limping it everywhere for too long so it's a pretty hard shift if you don't baby it at the low speeds, might try adding some friction modifier but unsure about the longevity of those products

What happens if the tab on the POS original connector breaks off? The original connector is in such bad shape its actively leaking transmission fluid everywhere too

The tab is just for grip. If no tab, then you can still get it but you'll have less grip to turn it.

@FixCarYourself I was commenting from a point of frustration, a slip joint pliers was able to grab on and remove that connector no problem. It helps to have the right tools at the right time

Nice idea using the pliers, especially when their is no grip. I'll have to try that as well another time.
