I don’t know how I found these videos but I immediately picked up NWN and I’m excited to slowly learn how to adventure in Arelith. If all of that happens in the first shack, I can only imagine how fun and rewarding it must be to learn this game. Thank you!

This episode was suprisingly tense and now I'm looking forward to the next. After watching episode 1 earlier today I immediately headed to Steam and bought NWN. Aerlith looks like exactly the sort of classic MMO experience I've been looking for, and perhaps our paths will cross in future.

I always want to give stuff like this a go, but sometimes it feels really serious on these personal servers and like I'm gonna be shunned for not taking something serious enough, or not knowing what to do. Like it's that thing/feeling you know with the dedicated and intense player base and tight-knit groups and it feels intimidating from the outside. Maybe I'm way too casual for it, I dunno.
I've personally never been shunned. I recommend giving it a try and see if it fits. 🥰
The reason your familiar didn't follow you up the ladder is because of a technical limitation. You went through a soft transition (no loading screen), which means your character was just moved to another area in the same map. Your familiar can't interact with the ladder so it had no way to follow you. The -fetch command is for overcoming obstacles like that. AI will never use soft transitions, they can only use hard transitions (load screen).

Also, if talking about the no-ooc rule, and anti-metaing makes you or your audience uncomfortable, point them to the "be nice" rule. Interactions are like a dance.
Also, you can set to autoloot corpses.
I agree and I'll try to do better about referring to the "be nice" rule. Regarding auto looting, yeah! I was drawing a contrast between GW2 style vs. Arelith in which you can only selectively auto loot items. Fair direction to your point! 🙂
I was looking for a game to get that old school feel. I tried to get back into EQ1 and RS1/3. I will have to give this a shot.

Awesome bro, I am a major playing og NW, I put a lot of younger folks in my arms 3 group on. One thing I loved about the game is that it was a TRUE coop experience that was damn near ahead of it's time. Oddly enough I actually never beat the main campaign before,, I always got sucked into the moduals.

@@MarleMMO See, now that EE is out I plan on trying a presistant world, I heard great things about Arelith from the Neverwinter nights discord. Most of the people I know don't want to tho so I'll try to find a group in game, I will give it a try. Currently I just got the Asheron Call Emulator and giving that a try and plan on giving Everquest 99 another go. I'm sure we are in the same age group(do you remember G4tv portal?) and I feel that genuine MMOs that we like are very hard to come by.
@@jakeen229, there are active LFG channels in Arelith's discord plus it's quite easy to find a group in game especially if you're actively looking. Regarding NW's Discord, do you mind sending me a link? I can't find it! I follow AC's emulator and P99 is fun although a time sink albeit enjoyable. While I haven't heard about G4tv, I started EQ pre-Luclin when I was 12 or so and have been MMOing ever since. What about you? :)

Great question. You click the "multiplayer" button when in NWN:EE then select one of the Arelith servers. I do think you can play on a Mac. 🥰

very cool. i remember playing NWN and the network was so buggy and laggy it was painful to play co-op. So how much "MM" of the MMO is in Arelith? do you meet up with players thru a common lobby city? any persistent world? ty

It's quite MMO; in fact, other than signing into the server(s) through NWN1's multiplayer lobby, you'd think you're playing a conventional MMORPG.
In Skaljard (the town featured in the episode), it's common to find groups near the center fire or adventuring beyond the gates. Each city has its main area to find others to group with. Often times, your party members will remember you and even send a private /tell inviting you to group up. It's all entirely persistent. :)

Also been playing another old school MMO that was a great love of mine.. Chronicles of Spellborn. theres a fan built recoded server for it. Wonderful wonderful game and great server. Unfortunately not many playing it. Have you ever tried it? Would make a great game to cover for your series. it was a game waaaayyy ahead of its time. just a great joy but sufferered from mismanagement, over ambitiousness - and the volcano that was WoW.

Hi Warrickomega! Very fun. In this episode I did explore a version of autolooting yet I don't believe a system exists like it does in BDO/GW2 in that you can push a button to AoE loot /everything/ or have pets/another system do it for you without interacting with corpses, or am I mistaken? :)

Man, i recently discovered your channel and your videos cover topics I'm deeply interested in and have already introduced me to multiple games I could see myself sinking hundreds of horus into in the future, but I just can't go on without mentioning a few things I really hope you try to improve with going forward.
1) the constant 'big arrow and text pointing toward points of interest': there are too many of these and they last too shortly, it's like an assault to my senses opposite in tone to the otherwise relaxed and immersive content, i wish you used less, let them settle on screen for a bit longer for us to actually *tell* what's being pointed out without pausing/rewinding, and ideally, were associated with some audio going over just what it is you're pointing at instead of JUST pointing over and over.
2) an absolute overuse of "haha i'm not gonna tell you what this is yet or why it's important i"ll just tell you that it is and that at some undisclosef future date you'll see why". Again, it's just happening way way too often, and like I get that you want hooks to incentivize people to keep watching but... I wish you'd at least give some idea of what a thing is or WHY it's important then teased 'but if you wanna know more, keep watching' instead of just constantly pointing out vague things then denying us knowledge about them or why you pointe dthem out.
3) the voice -- yeah, i know, maybe it's rude to comment on this, but the random, constant shifts to super high-pitch is a difficult pill to swallow. The majority of your videos have a nice, calm, easily distinguishable, good voice for explaining these games and their systems, but the random shifts into a pitch so high you seem extremely enthusastic to share the information but it's just mundane stuff half the tiem this happens and happens so often.... yeah, I dunno if it's an easy or even plausible thing for you to fix but I'd be remiss to not point it out.
Fix thos ethings and you'll go from a channel tha t's just barely worth watching for the subject matter but quite difficult to put up with, to an excellent one and easy reccommend to friends.

This is extraordinarily helpful feedback. Moving forward, I'll do my best to implement those changes. There is currently one video scheduled to publish on Saturday that uses the 'old' model and has been recorded (only needs editing), yet /next/ week's videos will address the points you highlighted. Please keep an eye out for them and let me know if I'm getting closer or further away from the sweet spot. Since I'm a new content creator, it's very difficult to know what's working and what isn't, so your comment is /deeply/ valuable; thank you!

Arelith is more populated than some bona fide MMOs. Just as 'classic' version of main stream titles are adored, so are persistent worlds like this. 💖
Yet, you're free not to play! If you prefer more modern experiences, there are many options for you.
