This is a nice video, but it does ignore the raiding and a lot of other group content. I understand you and even SSG may want to attract the more casual players, but doing so while ignoring people who enjoy group content really is just a way to keep stagnant in the MMO space. I played this game in beta and for years. I remember making a lowbie character and being escorted to Weathertop for the 2nd Weatherstock by higher level characters on the server. I think SSG is not helping themselves though by trying to stay too small. I think they should do more Twitch drops, they should maybe pair up with a different and larger streamer occasionally for example. As someone who enjoys the game, I get very tired of playing alone or the main group content being RP.

I was born in 93, so I of course watched the movies and loved them very much. I didn't read the books until later in life and until recently, I just started the Silmarillion. Growing up WoW was already very popular, so that was the mmorpg I played. I am very curious about this game though. Tolkien's works are top tier after all

Best MMORPG ever made in my opinion! Loved how you had to use your mind to figure out how to get the most out of your character. I'm sure my username (which I have now been using for years) lets you know what character class I preferred :P

I find it amazing how many WoW players tell me how badly LOTRO sucks but then complain about aspects of WoW that LOTRO excels in, namely content outside of raiding. WoW has simply become a raid log kind of game. There's no reason to do anything else. Classic outside of SoD is fairly dead and Cata and Retail are both mostly just raiding games. And the power creep means you're never in any danger outside of raids. SoD added in slightly more content but it's basically just classic WoW with Wotlk abilities and has more or less become a raid log game as well. They've given people no incentive to do things other than to acquire gear and once you've got the gear, there's no reason to do it any longer. Which is why they're now starting to struggle find bodies to fill the world boss raids. And we're only a little over a month into phase 4. People chew through whatever limited content they release in a few weeks and then stop participating. IMO the only version of WoW worth playing anymore is Turtle WoW. It has the best community out of all WoW games I've tried recently. More RPers, more people running around buffing/helping people and far less complaining. Blizzwow forums and the classic wow subreddit are like 80% complaining about the game. It's strange that so many continue to play a game they seem to hate.

This video is a good explination of the game. I got back into it and think that this video does a good job making me wanna play it again. So I did, now to figure out what class I wanna be lol. Osa demon mode seems fun, but there so little english guides lol. Anyway go download and play it today. Thanks for getting me back into it.

Im glad they introduced Legendary servers. Its awesome to do Carn Dum the older instances and experience the game with a fresh start.

I rly love lotr but cannot play this game, for me it just lacking, I made a character, went into the tutorial and it was in the middle of the war, I was amazed but then npcs had no voice actin, that immediately puts my expectation low, but ok I tried to continue like I was reading a book, but when I was going to deliver a quest, the npc had voice, but it was from a random part of his dialog, and it annoyed me so much because I was trying to read then they talk out of nowhere say some incomplete bs and then stops. I was like ok maybe I should just skip dialogs and try the combat, it is the same as wow, you have 100 buttons to press plus wsda to walk and it is tab target, I think tab target is the reason mmos are failing to bring in new ppl to their games. But to be fair I rly liked the environment of the game it made me feel like I was in the war against Sauron and his nazguls.

I don't think you're central to the story in WoW. They still call you Lieutenant or something after 20 years of killing gods. Even when you're mentioned as saving the planet, you're one of 20-40 people who did it, even in what passes for the story.

This is the only mmo that ive played that doesnt rush you to max level. I would say that this is the perfect mmo for people like me that wants to enjoy a game like the witcher 3 but in an online fashion with people. Not rushing to max level, and enjoying the entire map the game has to offer is unique to lotro for sure. No other mmo manages to make you feel like you dont have to be max lvl to enjoy it.

Actually don't lie, LOTRO rushes you to the end game. If you are a subscriber you get non optional daily exp boosts. Side questing or even main questing forces you to overlevel super fast. You can't do instances/skirmishes etc cos you WILL OVERLEVEL! The only way to play this game is by using exp halting item which you must buy in the lotro store, but then progressing through the game feels too artificial and forced.

One of the few games I played where I took crafting weapons more seriously than questing. The only other game that made me feel that way was Mortal Online 2, but that one's not for everyone lol

Shame you have to pay to play on the new legendary (seasonal) servers, the old servers are worthless.

You know I can never really find an MMO that's actually an adventure without everyone rushing to endgame & within a medieval theme, I've played many hours of FF & GW but they just never really stuck to me for the longest run. This video made me download the game and finally give it a try and I'm excited tbh because an MMO to me should feel like real life, but a game with an IP plus LOTR is like DnD and I LOVE IT. "I'M GOING ON AN ADVENTURE!!!" 🥹🥹🥹

love this game but i dont have time to spend 2 hours just looking for a group for to grind mobs for 45 minutes before someone has to go and you have to fill his spot....if the population ever gets back to where it was when it first launched ill come back....but finding groups is a chore and you dont really have a choice but grind with a group unless you want to solo mobs and it will take you your whole lifetime to gain levels

THIS is the style of MMORPG that I came to love when I started playing them decades ago. Star Wars Galaxies was like this and it has been my favorite MMORPG of all time. PLAYERS are a big part of the content. Player interactions, player-created events, etc. Games these days no longer value social gameplay, they just put you on some lame hero story and it feels like a single player game. Upcoming games like Ashes of Creation and Dune: Awakening need to be taking notes here. People may think they just want to game solo, but most players end up loving games like LOTRO for decades, because they are more social.

I used to play LOTRO back in the day. I leveled most of the classes but my main character was the Warden. The level cap was L75. As a gaming vet with tons of experiences in MMO, RPGs, etc., LOTRO is definitely one of the best MMO experiences/memories that I ever had. It's F2P & yes you can have the ability to earn premium currencies! If only we have more than 24 hours =) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The other main reason why half the world doesn't get into the game is because the game isn't in Spanish. The truth is, having to read hundreds of paragraphs in an English that I consider to be advanced causes Spanish speakers like me to not want to even touch it. I find it curious that you haven't included this information in the negative reviews because it's a reason that is repeated ad nauseam: It's not in Spanish, (No esta en español).

I haven’t played it for 14 years. What I remember was that some quests required a small fellowship and it was so hard to find players. I spent days trying to find players when lvling. The good thing I remember was my kinship run by Whitedoom, he was a great leader. The lore was amazing as well. I wonder how I will feel about the aged graphics today. Maybe I should give it a new chance.

If they’d update the UI, I’d easily play again.

Hey if anyone can helpmeet on this matter I would really appreciate it. Basically I bought the game and I started playing but everything is so dark and I don't see stuff clearly because everything is almost back and I even turned on the brightness settings and stuff but still nothing
