In your video "Story Time-2020 and the first Paulk Workbench Prototype" you say: "It's all 18mm, I had not experimented with 12mm yet, which is the only way I'd build my bench now..." at 4:11. Obviously the tops need to be 18mm for the MFT, but I though you always said you had never built a Smart Bench with 12mm wood in the support structure. And 18mm is what we see in the plans and videos. Also 1/2" is what is laid out in the 777 interviews. Structurally, in bench components that are 2' wide It probably would work fine. 8 foot length is not a problem.
I'm building a 30" X 72" bench, just to get the weight down since we don't have access to the light ply. I am going to use a piece of 1/2" on the back, as that is what I have.
It is well worth while going back to the old videos, as they often present options that have been superceded by modern practices, but in many cases were actually superior in certain regards. An example is the step jig for drawer dadoes. There may be more cumulative error, but it doesn't require a massive single-use jig as though we were engaged in series production of benches..

That stinks i was probably the first to try and buy it i was the second one to view the video. Too bad, I bought the same trailer for the most part and just got it road worthy, not finished but close i would have brought it along. I have a ton of question for you Ron I was the one who emailed you about the mission trailer problems back in September.
