    • @rorybannon
      @rorybannon Před 11 dny

      @@KimberlyMitchell-jf7nv the bears teams of the past aren’t relevant to this team. Poles and flus have been establishing a new culture which is what this team needs to return to playoff contention. Poles and flus didn’t draft fields, so they wanted to get their own guy. It’s something that most GMs wanna do to establish their culture. But you can’t deny that fields could’ve learned from foles given foles was a Super Bowl champion and very experienced. When you watch the tape you see that fields and Russ both hold the ball for too long and struggle to throw from the pocket and make quick reads over the middle. The bears o line was not as bad as people like to say it was last season, and once Caleb comes in and throws dots over the middle from the pocket, we will all see that. Tevin Jenkins has developed into a great young guard and Darnell Wright who poles drafted last year was also great. The other issue with keeping fields from a team building perspective is that fields would need a new contract next year or the year after. So if fields is good and we wanna extend him next year or the year after we need to pay him like $100 million or whatever. With Caleb we have a rookie that poles can build a team around for the next 4-5 seasons while Caleb is on his rookie scale deal.

    I think the OC-QB relationship is really situational. In many cases, we now have HCs who are actually the OC to an extent as well.
    Would anyone bet on Tua if he left Miami? How is Hurts doing without his OC?
    If you look at the history of failed 1st round QBs, you will notice a correlation between OCs leaving, and a defensive head coach, and the QB struggling the next year.
    If you find an OC-QB combo, and your coach is defensive… it’s often a better idea to fire the coach and make the OC HC, than lose the OC.
    Everyone was worried about Stroud if his OC left, and for good reason. Changing OCs can kill young QBs.
