    Experts say that one of the best ways to lose your money is to buy a brand new vehicle. Statistics suggest that when you drive out of the dealership door, you can lose up to 30% of the initial value of your brand new ride in the first year. So how would one mitigate that problem? The answer is easy: just let someone else take the pain and buy used. There are plenty of offers out there in the market today. And even an inexpensive SUV could work solidly, reliably and make you happy for years to come. And the best part is you won't risk losing nearly as much money if things go south in the reliability department. Because even the most reliable cars can break down when time and miles accumulate under the hood. Today we present a list of the best SUVs under 10000$.
    Not to sound like fanboys, but this list will be dominated by Japanese vehicles. Because time and countless happy owners all around the world suggest that when it comes to long term value and reliability, Japanese offerings are hard to beat.

    Have a 2007 CRV (201k) bought used, a 2008 CRV bought new (181k). Had a 2003 Element (180k) when sold. All are excellent. Get the 2.5 K series engines. I stay away from the smaller engines and turbos. May be giving up a little fuel economy, but I believe getting better reliability. The 2007 had some suspension work previous to my ownership. Have only replaced the power steering pump since I have had it. Grand daughter drives it to college. The 2008 has been dead reliable with only batteries and tires. I change oil and filter (no FRAMS or equivalent). every 5000 miles.

      Your track record with the CRV models and the K series engines is commendable, Kenneth. It's evident that informed decision-making and regular maintenance have played roles in their longevity. Out of curiosity, have you noticed any significant difference in driving experience between the 2007 and 2008 CRVs, given their mileage difference? Your insights could be beneficial for potential buyers. Thanks for tuning in!

    I purchased a 2 year old fully loaded Cayenne Turbo for 60K. Not bad for a 30k mile 150K SUV. Buying 'newer' used is the way to go.

    • @AutoEnginee
      @AutoEnginee  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thank you for sharing your experience with purchasing a newer, used Cayenne Turbo-a high-quality SUV at a significant discount is always a great find. Your approach of buying 'newer' used vehicles offers another viable strategy for those who are in a position to invest more upfront. Given that this video focuses on affordability under $10,000, what are your thoughts on balancing initial cost with long-term reliability?

    • @chaleowin7732
      @chaleowin7732 Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@AutoEnginee Absolutely, I appreciate your perspective on the benefits of buying 'newer' used vehicles like the Cayenne Turbo. It's indeed a smart way to get premium quality at a fraction of the cost. When it comes to vehicles under $10,000, I believe it's essential to prioritize models known for their longevity and minimal maintenance. Researching and choosing cars with a reputation for reliability will ensure that the initial savings aren't offset by future repair costs. It's all about striking the right balance between upfront affordability and sustained value over time. Thanks for raising this important point!

    Bought a Mazda cx7 and went with the 2.5L works like a charm so far had it for a couple of months and it’s amazing if you want reliability just don’t buy anything hybrid or with turbos

    The lack of the pilot on this list mashes your list absolutely bunk. How could you possibly miss that one??

      @AutoEnginee  Před 7 měsíci

      Thank you for pointing that out! The Honda Pilot is indeed a great SUV and has received positive reviews over the years. Our list is based on various factors and while we tried to cover a broad range, we might have missed a few. We'll certainly consider including the Pilot in any future lists or discussions. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it!

    • @AutoEnginee
      @AutoEnginee  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Great point! The Toyota Sequoia has a reputation for being durable and reliable. It might stretch the budget for some, especially in certain markets or conditions, but if you can find one under $10,000, it's definitely a worthy contender. Thanks for bringing it up; it's a solid recommendation!

      Thanks for bringing that up! It's true that some years of certain models might have issues. However, many owners have had positive experiences with the 2014 Subaru Forester as well. It's always a balance of personal experiences and overall ratings. I appreciate the diverse feedback from everyone - it helps potential buyers consider all angles before making a decision!
