I would stay away from this surgery. My father had it. He couldn't even swallow water after surgery. Lost his walking ability mostly and caught an infection during battery replacement. Entire DBS had to be removed to cure the infection. They decided it was too risky to put it back. Now he cant talk or walk and bed ridden for the rest of his life thanks to DBS. He flew to the surgery on his own. Even doctors dont understand how this works. They will blame it on decease progression if something goes wrong
Thank you for this very informative video. If you may, I would like to ask you about a condition my wife faces after her DBS surgery two weeks ago. Actually since she has had this surgery she has felt a "pulling and tightness" on the right side of her head. It is also uncomfortable when she bows her head down and turns it from side to side. Is this the result of "bowstringing?" I have read the very little information there is online about this condition and I don't think she wants to live with these conditions for much longer. We are seeing our neurosurgeon today for the two week follow up. Thank you so much for any information you can give us.
Hi..what are the outcome? Is it safe? Do you have to change the battery? Do I take any medication after the surgery? Do I have to shave my head? What are the success rates? How about when my head or my legs shake too? Can the surgery help those too? What type of insurance do I need? Is there any type of infection involving after the Surgery? How long this surgery last for? Is the battery noticable by the naked eye?.......thanks
