Penn State wrestling. It's like it's not even fair having to compete against those guys. Cael Sanderson has singlehandedly changed the college wrestling landscape since 2010.
Watching these boys wrestle takes me back to '76 when I wrestled for Dan Gable at Iowa. I went there originally because Doug Blubaugh told me if I didn't he'd kick me in the nuts.
Nick Lee and RBY and Carter were so insane. I will teach this to my kids as soon as they step on the mat. Soon
Oh yeah Cael Sanderson is a spectacular coach, makes penn state seem magical how it transforms wrestlers into national champions
@@3TKDN he’s phenomenal. If you buy into Cael’s system and literally listen, you can win at the highest level. This was my favorite NCAA finals of all time, and we’ve had some bangers.
@:35 even more impressive given that Spencer Lee had two torn ACLs in that match.
Nick Lee deservingly had two of the top three takedowns
Loved seeing rby beat the master of stalling
The 'inside trip' was masterful and deadly.
It was insanely beautiful!
As a heavy gable steavonsen is insane
Nick lee is one of my favorite wrestlers to watch. He is so technically perfect. Everything he does is textbook looks like he’s drilling
It’s beautiful, and I would credit Cael Sanderson because it seems like all of penn states national champions wrestle like they’re drilling
Evansville Mater Dei produces some absolute beasts
I could be wrong but weren’t Lee and Eierman in a similar position at the big ten championships? Eierman got Lee then but Lee made the adjustment for NCAAs. Awesome.
Yeah man, watching rematches especially in the finals is always exciting
Brands likely spent all off season drilling OT strategy
It’s dumb that all of the takedowns on this list were by champions and in the finals. Those certainly weren’t the top 10 takedowns at nationals. Brandon Courtney in the quarterfinals hit an insane throw out of a scramble. Can’t believe that wasn’t on the list
Hey thanks for the feedback means a lot I will work harder to make my videos as accurate as possible. I will say however the way I grade these takedowns is especially on who they take down so I usually just take the finals because the situation the pressure and the significance of a takedown in the ncaa final it is much more valuable, significant and exciting then any other.
@@3TKDN hey man you're doing a good job don't let this miserable douchebag talk shit. If he doesn't like it he can make his own videos. Also the title of your video said the 2021 national championships, didn't it? May be misleading for this dude but pretty clear for everybody else. Keep up the good work
All those that lost deserved to get taken down ... damn, some really good wrestling, love the slo mo
Penn St was dialed in in the championship round
Do you think they will win team national championship this year?
@@3TKDN Tough to call, but I don’t think so. Iowa has the more complete roster, imo, and could legitimately have an All American at every weight. NC State, Mizzou, Michigan, and OK St could also put a lot of dudes on the podium. But Penn St has 4 returning champs, so they’ll make a run at it.
I'm not saying that Iowa has hit their ceiling, but there's a lot more room for growth for the younger roster at Penn State.
@@ncompton31 Oh yeah. If Penn state put 9 or 10 guys on the podium, I wouldn’t be surprised.
@@rhebbhulettWell, you weren't wrong. Here to say PSU has surpassed all the expectations and have completely comeback dominant. Despite only having 2 winners out of 5 finalists last year (2023) and having gone 9 for 9 at the last two ('21 and '22), We could be looking at a complete finals for PSU. We could be looking at another 5 or even 6 finalists and maybe 4-5 winners. It's insane how great they still are.
I wish Iowa would look at what Penn State has done and do something similar but Brands believes his way is best. Never gonna get anything done doing things that way.
We are….. Penn State!
You got penn state winning the team title this year?
👍🏼. Hold that second place trophy. Get back to us when you reach 20 TEAM titles.
You were...2nd place!!
@@jeffdarnell7942 not too shabby with only sending 9 wrestlers in the NCAA's. Got 4 NC's out of those 9!
@@nickwolfe2048 PSU has 8 chips in the past 10 years
Hey guys don’t forget to watch my new video on 2021 Worlds czcams.com/video/GOEEVRh1qqA/video.html
I wish I was able to understand the point system as I like to watch this. I have a TKD/boxing background but I really like to watch grappling sports/martial arts or something with a lot of ground game like jujitsu.
www.google.com/amp/s/www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling/article/2020-09-16/how-college-wrestling-match-scored%3famp
That link should help you gain an understanding of the point system for college wrestling
@@3TKDN thanks!!!
@@eljoelo2459 And remember, if you’re mixing it up and watching college wrestling (folk style) and freestyle wrestling, those are two different scoring systems. There’s also Greco Roman, which is also quite different. Freestyle and Greco Roman are what you will see in international competitions like the Olympics and World Championships. Folk style is what you’d see in high school and college.
So if you read up on scoring for college wrestling, then watch a video of Jordan Burroughs or David Taylor, you might be wondering what’s going on.
@@rhebbhulett thanks for the info.
Wow so where was nahshon garrett?
Fix is the reason he lost.. he had opportunities to win and stopped wrestling each time
So top ten of the tournament or highlight takedown of each finals match? This list is terrible considering what happened throughout the tournament
I understand and I will look to improve and create better and more accurate videos but honestly I still believe these were the best takedowns. Why? Well because these takedowns were the takedowns that no one will forget, us as fans and the wrestlers in the match both the winner and the loser. It’s the NCAA FINALS! Any takedown is worthy and far more significant than the takedowns done in prior rounds thus, I just take the finals and give recognition to the champs and the runner ups. With that being said I will consider the tournament as a whole but I am grading these takedowns mainly on who they are taking down and the scenario/significance of the takedown. I see where your coming from and I will consider it for future videos but I also hope you see where I am coming from. Thank you for your feedback, happy holidays!
Why are these all just the takedowns by champions? I guarantee there were others at the tournament that bested these.
Thanks for the feedback I’m working on a new video on the collegiate wrestling dual tournament that just happened and will be looking at the whole tournament for best takedowns, hope you enjoy, happy holidays!
bro they Fd up iowa 😂
Iowa still took home the title so who had the last laugh?
@@nickwolfe2048 Penn State did lol 4 Champs to 1 losing all to Penn State 😂 they been rebuilding for the last 2 years and yet Iowa stacked all their #1 but Lee were defeated
@@extoxico277And I'm from the future coming to tell you, two years later, PSU has won 2 straight titles and have gone 12 for 15 in finals in the last 3 NCAAs. It will certainly be full of upsets this year.
Carter Starocci did definitely get screwed with his seeding this year being the 9th seed and probably having two back-to-back tough matches in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
Sasso got robbed.
