  • To celebrate the end of the year we would like to share with you some stunning drone footage filmed this morning around the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The mist was an irresistible opportunity to showcase our beautiful city from above.
    For more drone footage, check out our film City by Jay - • City by Jay | Bristol ...

    Hi do you need caa approval to fly near buildings and in class D airspace?

    • @BristolNatureChannel
      @BristolNatureChannel  Před 7 lety

      Hi Damian, thanks for messaging. At the time of filming you could fly where we were according to the CAA (2 weeks ago a new bylaw came in saying that you are no longer allowed to fly in most Bristol parks). Class D airspaces are usually fine to fly in providing you are sticking to the drone code set out by the CAA. The airspace becomes class A in parts of Ashton Court where it's prohibited because of the airport. We always check on the CAA drone app (Drone Assist) that we are allowed to fly in an area and our Phantom Four has restrictions against flying in a prohibited airspace. If you want to make money out of your drone videos then you'll need to pick up a commercial license to do so. The rules are often changing around drones so we try to keep up to date with them. We see you've got a Mavic Pro, very nice! Happy flying :)

      Many thanks for the reply. Do you have a commercial licence? I would be interested in getting one sounds like a good idea.

      Damian Hollingbery not yet, we don't make money from our footage so there's no need to have one but we would love one eventually. At somepoint they'll probably make all drone owners get one..

    Hi there, we've been enjoying watching this, really very beautiful. We film 4k walks in cities, and have just filmed Bristol, so it's especially lovely to see someone doing something similar but from a different viewpoint, thank you for taking the time to add your video. Perhaps we could subscribe to each other and share more?

    A real shame that the council recently all but banned drones in Bristol.

      L W I know, but I totally understand why. I'm just glad we got to fly in some places before they changed it.
