The Shays rebellion was an example of "States rights gone mad". Under the articles of the Confederation states could essentially pass any tax law they wanted and print limitless amounts of money. When this resorted in a violent backlash, the federal government had to just let it play out since they didn't have the power to pass taxes to pay for a militia. No wonder the constitution contained restrictions on the states ability to print money and pass tax laws.

So I was watching a video for civics, and noticed the background you used at 17:21, it kinda looks like my background for my outro, but I don't think you were trying to steal it, and claim it as your own, it was probably a coincidence, good video btw
How the hell do you have only 455 subscribers? Your videos are pretty high quality
With how infrequently historia civilis uploads, this is a nice thing to bridge the gap. It also stands on its own, keep it up!
The #1 best Liberty’s Kids episode for Wizards of Waverly Place! Even better news: the show is coming back for a reboot!
Thank you for this. I live in West Springfield and always love reading into Luke Day and his involvement in Shays' Rebellion.
Same here!
Why does this beat go hard? 🗿

Awesome video. Taking American govt. Very helpful! Thank you! 🙏
I'm not sure if your choice of the anarcho-communist flag to represent the Shaysites was intentional or not, but if so...based.
I was really going for the rebel flag in Europa Universalis but a few of you guys have mentioned that to me!

The Constitution does not contain any restrictions on the ability of states to raise any taxes they want.

Those are for tariffs which would have impacted the single market and free trade area that most states wanted to create.
@@IkeOkerekeNews The point is they were restrictions of the states ability to raise any taxes they wanted, so you're wrong. Accept it and move on.
@@TheStapleGunKid
Yes, very minimal restrictions that had little to do with the actual subject of the video, domestic taxation.
Can Daniel Shays be credited as the man responsible for the US Constitution?
I'd say that if the US Constitution was the result of just one man it would have been done away with a long time ago.

My name is Shay
Is this literally the same guy as historia civilis?
Historia civilis at home
Idk but the geographical Maps, history based videos and the voice definitely makes it questionable
