    Eric, excellent review. I consider you to be an authority on the P15 and have watched all of your reports on this pistol. I am also the one who introduced you to the KTOG website.
    I know it’s almost identical but I would really like to see you report on the P15 Metal version.
    Thank you!

      I like the look of the metal framed one, and I'm sure it feels a bit nicer with the wood grips, but I wouldn't go for one myself.
      The magic sauce that makes this gun comfortable to shoot is the backstrap, which you can't install on the metal framed gun (as far as I'm aware).

    • @mikemaslanka3786
      @mikemaslanka3786 Před 8 měsíci

      I understand. I’ve read that the metal has a slightly wider grip which might make the back strap not needed? @@firydeth

    I've owned this gun since late August, I have a Sig P365, Kel-Tec P17, Taurus G3,Ruger LC9, Shield Plus and Shield 1.0, l have Glocks 17,19,21,22,23 and 30 . I carry this gun daily and I LOVE IT! I installed the included backstrap and added a Sig 365 Hogue grip over the aggressive Gator grip. As a result you have much better fill in hand and a huge difference in recoil control. I absolutely love the size and features on this gun for the price of 388.00 I paid for it. Great night sights and trigger especially are worthy of mention the 4 inch barrel and longer sight radius makes it easy for me to shoot. I have 750 rounds through it and zero malfunctions. i can stitch rounds from 15 to 30 yards easily with this gun. In case you missed it I love my P15!

    Recently purchased a P15, thanks for your in-depth reviews of the pistol, it helped me make my decision. I noticed another possible design issue you may want to address in your reviews, there has been reports of the takedown pin working itself out, it seems this is caused by the bump or protrusion on the magazine follower that lifts the slide stop, this protrusion is not large enough and the follower is made of a soft polymer, the edge of the bump becomes rounded and the tab in the slide stop slides off it, this puts outward pressure on the pin causing it to walk out, on my two magazines the follower is a little different, the12 round having a larger surface to hold the slide stop, I’m using this mag until replacement followers are available.

    • @firydeth
      @firydeth  Před 6 měsíci

      From what I've seen it looks like the problem is with the plunger that retains the slide stop sitting too low. So, when firing or when the follower hits the slide stop, it pops out.
      I had the opposite problem with mine being set too high.

    I bought mine back in late March for $317. So far it has been flawless. The fact that it already comes with night sights and an aggressive grip is sort of what sold me on it, besides the great price of course. It's easy to conceal and is light, yet can hold 15+1 rounds for any situation. I do like the grip safety as well. Overall, it was a great investment!

    I've been kicking around the p15 YT vids eince just after the first batch, and I purchased one for myself a bit ago. Certainly, go through every function check with the P15. I never had a failure to fire etc, but did have issues that had to get sent in 2x. I respect your videos and look forward to future p15 productions. As for the rear sight cover, I will buy an alum replacement even if I don't want an optic IF it fixes some of the current poor design/movement issues. As stated, 0 fire failures 250rnds + 2x keltec test magz or so.

    • @firydeth
      @firydeth  Před 8 měsíci

      Well, the rear sight cover is an aluminum piece on the aluminum framed version, so eventually (who knows when) that should be a part that can be purchased from KT. If its ever available, and you won't put an optic on it, I would get it.

    Brother I hate to be that guy because I hate getting comments on my channel telling me how to shoot, but you really need to get a better grip on that gun. You make it look like you are shooting a hot 44 magnum load when it's just a little ole 9mm. God forbid if you had to use it in a rapid fire fashion in a self defense scenario, you would probably drop the thing and miss all your shots before it fell to the ground. I would recommend you switch to the Ruger Security .380- you will love it. Good job on the 95 yard shots though, especially standing freehand like that. That takes skill- most people can't do that...

      Thanks, I'm so glad you went there!
      A few things.
      1. I'm incredibly weak. Don't take your good health for granted, as we are not all so well blessed.
      2. The gun is very flippy. Everyone else who shot it (whose arms are all twice my size) also had a bit of trouble controlling it at first.
      3. Some of that footage was taken right after I had a bad month-long case of covid and was basically a walking shadow.
      The only thing I'm going to really take offense at is your suggestion that I will drop the gun because obviously pathetic I am. Please watch this video at this timestamp and please count how many times I drop the gun.

    My Canik Elite SC also has battery issues every once in a while but ONLY when i sling shot the slide, otherwise it goes into battery 99% the time.
    My P17 on the other hand sometimes has an issue chambering that 16th round. After that, it works fine.

      @firydeth  Před 7 měsíci +1

      My mistake, I meant the Dagger Micro. It is superior to the P15 in every way, including price.@@firydeth

    • @firydeth
      @firydeth  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@Giovanni-33 I;m not selling Keltecs, and you can get and prefer whatever you want. But I think objectively the P15's sights and trigger are superior. The dagger micro is wider and heavier, and as I mentioned, the mag release is very lefty unfriendly.

    • @Giovanni-33
      @Giovanni-33 Před 7 měsíci

      Kel-Tec has some interesting designs. I own several of them. But their execution is lacking. Fit and finish is always sub-par and material choices are suspect. The fact that half of the slide is plastic is pathetic and makes it feel like a toy. They did the same thing on the P17. I could accept that cost cutting move on a 22lr, but not on a CCW chambered in 9mm. The grip safety is just cringe and has no place on a modern CCW (I know it can be disabled, but it ruins the ergonomics and introduces another fail point). The fiber optic front sight is nice but most would prefer a red dot and the Dagger has a standard RMSC optics cut. The magazine release of both guns is reversible. The trigger on the Dagger is considered an improvement over the Glock. I think you would be in an extremely small minority if you prefer the trigger of the P15. Kel-Tec is infamous for their bad triggers. The Dagger Micro and P15 are nearly identical in width, height and length but the Dagger actually weighs less, even with an all steel slide. Check the Genitron gun database if interested. The Dagger is also compatible with thousands of aftermarket accessories for the Glock 43X. Holster choices are endless. P15 holster options are very slim. To top it all off, the prices are the same. The obvious choice for an affordable, lightweight 9mm CCW in 2024 is the Micro Dagger. This is why they are constantly out of stock, and why there is no shortage of P15’s

  • @elsullo2
    @elsullo2 Před 8 měsíci +3

    As far as being "flippy" at the muzzle, that is part of the basic design: It has a high bore-axis compared with the grip, and is very light up front, required by the focus on being slim. So do Sigs, so it is not a flaw, just a manufacturer choice. Myself, I choose only low bore-axis guns, like the original Kel-Tec P-11 9mm, still the perfect concealed carry gun! My other choice would be the Steyr M series, with just about the lowest bore in the world compared with your fist, except for the Kahr wonder pistols, my FIRST choice. It just kicks back and not up---wonderful!.............................elsullo
