RM 200 is in preservation. This bus was at Willesden Garage (AC) in 1966 and possibly seen on the front cover of Nancy Sinatra's album 'Nancy in London', Nancy is sitting on the front wing.
The magnificent Routemaster. I'm glad they used an RM in the film spin off of On The Buses. Film crews more often than not would use an RT whenever a bus was required for a film or a TV episode. Don't get me wrong, the RT was a fantastic bus but so was the Routemaster and Reg Varney and Stephen Lewis were superb (as usual) on RM200- VLT 200. What a pity much of the AEC AV590 sound was overdubbed! The whole bus looked right at Chiswick Skid Pan. Proper internal decor with sung yellow ceilings. And a nice early bodied Routemaster bus with non-opening front upper deck windows. By 1971( when the film was made) the Routemaster became THE standard London Transport bus taking over the RT in this mantle. Although RM200 looked in good condition what a shame flake grey was adopted as the colour of the relief band, no doubt one of the more poorer decisions by the management back in the 60s to apply this on central area buses in place of the much nicer Chiswick Cream waistband.
I have NEVER even heard of On The Buses until I'm This Now old😂😂😂 I first thought the short guy was Richard(Newkirk)Dawson of Hogan's Heroes! I currently drive smaller Motorcoaches in NJ USA, and am Shocked the double-deckers could be salvaged from a skid due to the high center of gravity. Sick, twisted AWESOME!! 😊

I love it when Blakey said to Stan I'll have you, I just found that really funny
