After Reckful I am making a conscious effort to not hate on other people. Not that I hated on Reckful but it's so easy to effect others with your words and make their situation harder to deal with and I don't want to be a part of that ever again. I mean look how fast it breaks down, within 5 minutes of talking about their life they are already crying. People hurt so much and many have nobody to talk to about any of this which is why these Dr K chats are such a good idea.

Same here, I never really realized how I always separate people mentally to good and bad and kept them there. People can change, anyone would feel like shit if they had their stupid mistakes held against them forever.

I used to hate her for the things she's done to her cat, stupid and silly things that does not justify the need for this amount of hate... After watching this video, I am truly humbled to my knees and I now understand that she is just another human being, trying to live her life. How could I become this way? To allow this superficial barrier to blind me and turn myself into this vessel of hatred. Thanks for enlightening me Dr. K, we truly don't know the extent of an individual from just the things we gleam off of their online persona.
If you are for real then what you've written here is a big deal. Most people will do mental gymnastics, deflect or pretend they did nothing when they see they've done something wrong. But you didn't and accept the mistake. That's very admirable. This type of hateful mentality is pretty easy to get into so I don't think you're a "bad" person for taking part, though I would if you continued after watching this interview. So kudos to you.
I haven't interacted with her content or community very much, but I remember hearing about all of this stuff, and it definitely gave me a bad impression of her. Of course she has messed up, but she doesn't deserve the insane way the internet attacks people. Don't get me wrong, I still don't really like her, but the amount of hate she has gotten is fucked up. I think a lot of it comes from the fact that she's a pretty girl on the internet, and people are jealous of her in a lot of ways. There's also some sexism in there since people really like to imply that she slept with people to get where she is. It's really sad and messed up, and I do feel bad for her. I really hope the internet community improves in their attitude towards people over the next few years.

Dr. K is such a professional. I watched it live and his guest goes from fairly emotionally scattered and somewhat anxious or manic to calm and focused by the end. And he even admits the entire time that he did not really even do anything to help her.
He just knows how to talk to people to make them feel peaceful. Man.. I was impressed with this one.
Just think about it. Who has she been able to talk to with this stuff? It all just comes out right now because she has been bearing the burden alone.
@@pletter64 From the way that initial comment was worded I'm not sure Adam was familiar with the whole Alinity situation prior to this video but I think you're absolutely right... I'm glad she shared all that because it was just kind of understood that Alinity was not good. She made several offenses and always seemed to get away with it. It's good that she has been able to share her side of it, I hope it helps with all the hate and the way she is treated going forward. At some point we shouldn't be judged by past mistakes (obviously, if they are forgivable) because we are changing daily. If I was a known figure when I was 18 I can't even imagine how much hate I would continue to get today 5 years later for the way I used to be... I know it's not the same situation, but that's what I've realized watching the stream.
I think a lot of it comes down to expectations. Once people realise that Dr. K doesn't have some weird agenda and has zero interest in finding dirt or starting drama, like half the other "podcasts" on Just Chatting, they open up real quick.

I love how Dr K says the hate she's getting should be for someone who committed genocide yet people in the comment section still trying to defend the hate they are giving and completely missing the point of how unrational their thinking is.

@Ronnyqt There isn't a broad solution to this, sad thing is she has to put up with this for a while. On the other hand she had biased stories and I never felt that she was here to improve as a person but rather defend her image which isn't the purpose of conversations with Dr. K, I think it took 1 hour and 18 minutes until she opened up a bit, but even then she fell into the same path of defending her image after some time. I don't hold any grudge of some sort towards her, I think she deserves forgiveness. I think Pokimane was a great example of how you should treat a similar situation like this, she was there to talk about herself and her troubles, not internet trolls, cause really, what the f can Dr. K actually do about her getting hate.
@Ronnyqt it's the internet man. I'm not saying it's okay, but if you're gonna ride a storm as wild as the internet and use it to fuel some sort of financial or emotional success, then it's just part of the game. So I think people just need to understand that they have to take a step back emotionally from the things they encounter virtually, whether it's on social media or streaming. It's been said before, the way some people act on here, most of the people would not say half of the shit or do half of the shit they do in real life, to normal people or to the internet celebrities if they see them. I think while it's important to understand we're all human beings in and out of the internet, it's necessary for your well-being, to have a personal disconnection with many of the things you find online. Some people aren't built that way and that's ok, but it's what needs to happen
Well she keeps denying and embellishing. I think that's why people don't cut her slack. And let's be frank, she should've been deplatformed long ago, twitch is kinda throwing her under the bus in my opinion. If people get deplatformed for cheating or touching someone inappropriately because they don't wanna be associated with that... I believe animal abuse(meh in her case), marriage fraud and a history of breaking ToS should've done it... But it didn't, and I think thats the core of the hate.
I strongly believe Twitch handled her case so fucking poorly and they are partly to blame for her harassment, if she had gotten even the 24 hours or 48 hours ban she deserved on the spot, I doubt people would still be on her case today.
First, did you watch this video? At around 30-35 minutes, she talked about the marriage and pewdiepie things. Second, do you think twitch releasing a statement would change anything?

I'm in medical school and the stuff he says is basic knowledge any medical student knows. I don't see how hes praised as some hero, the guy just listens to people talk.
@@jasonbronson963 He's praised as some hero because there is shortage of people listening to other people, and even though what he does is very basic, not everyone need therapies to recover from child abuse or a trumatic orphanage experience. Sometimes it's the little things and little words that bring the most and best out of people. Especially in a non social sphere that is streaming/content creation.

I think Dr K was the best thing thats ever happened to the internet, he shows how flaming and toxicity actually affects people by talking to victims of things like cyber bullying basically saying that its a serious problem and we can see that in alinity. Thank you very much, Dr K :)
Yes, but it shouldn't be one-sided. There is always another side to the story. Doesn't mean whatever anyone does or says is right.
I would like to add a lot of things:
Alinity has done a lot in the past, and I think one of the reasons people hate her is because there was no justice served. In my opinion, twitch has a major part in the reason why she gets a lot of hate. For example, the N word incident. She blatantly says the N word, and there is no punishment. Twitch just decides to do nothing and let her continue to stream, and comparing her to other streamers, they would get banned instantly. For example, when Tfue said the c word, referring to the raccoon, not black people, he was banned. Alinity in the other hand, despite saying the N word referring to black people, gets no ban. Twitch is very strict in their rules, if a streamer messes up, they are banned, so why is Alinity not? In the minds of the public, they see that as unfair and it paints Alinity as the bad guy.
Also, when she threw her cat. People saw it as her abusing her cat. They think twitch will do something about it, they do nothing. They let her continue streaming. This is a pattern that happens over and over, where the people want justice, but twitch refuses to follow their own rules. Finally, when the nip slip happened, twitch at first, did nothing, it took Alinity herself to get herself banned. Meanwhile, if it was another streamer who did a nip slip, twitch would have banned them immediately. Again, why does she not even get a slap on her wrist? When Alinity said she will get herself banned, and she did, it would mean the hate stops, right? Well, no. Twitch themselves did not punish her because she did something wrong, it was because she asked for it. If they are so strict with the rules and always force them on other streamers, why does Alinity keep getting out without a penalty even. It took herself to get banned, twitch did not take any action. The punishment she got felt unfair.
I'm not saying the hate sh gets is what she deserves, but rather, twitch should have done something from the beginning. If they punished her for saying the N word on stream, maybe banning her for a period of time, or something along those lines, the people would have been more willing to forgive Alinity. If you look at it, it is twitch's fault to begin with, why she gets so much hate. All they had to do was punish her the same way they do to other streamers and not give her any benefits. She needs to learn the actions of her consequences, and just hating on her for what she did, will not help anyone.

So what you are describing is that Twitch is at fault here, but Alinity is receiving hate for it. The community has taken it upon themselves to punish her. But they continue to support Twitch. Seems extremely hypocritical.
On a further note, I can easily imagine that many of the people who take time from their lives to leave hateful comments have to indeed have something wrong with their mental state AND their morality. As in -- I might judge someone to make myself (to myself) seem innocent, to cover up my own faults, because if I can judge someone then I must be without fault (an obvious misconception).
Twitch also receives alot of hate actually. The people aren't blind to how horrible they are as a company, how biased they are with their policies, how they ban streamers instantly. Twitch is horrible and people are not hypocrites because they too get hate but get away with it.
Imagine being subbed to a channel that advocates empathy and forgiveness among many other positive things, but still insta-disliking this video and spreading hate in the comments because :-| GUEST BAD :-| WeirdChamp
It's because Alinity doesn't actually admit to any of the things she's actually done wrong, she makes excuses and blames other people. She's not looking for empathy or forgiveness.
She's just looking for another way to lie and cover up what she's done to the world.
At best she says "okay, I've done some things wrong", but doesn't say what those things actually are and she doesn't own up to them, she makes up lies and excuses around things. Why would we have empathy for people like this? Are you really so gullible to believe what she's saying because she fake cries?
She said she's 32 and won't be changing as a person. Even Dr K said he wasn't sure how he was supposed to help her, he said she already does yoga and meditation and is self reflective and secure as a person that loves herself. She just came on so people would pity her and to gain more attention and to cover up with lies and make excuses for things she's done. She also says that it's a control thing that she's most upset about, that she can't control the narrative. These are her own words. She doesn't care about the things she's done, just that she can't control what people say about those things.

I literally heard a guy on a podcast talk about how he's been harassing her for years and when asked what she did, he couldnt name anything but the nip slip and throwing a cat. He went on to say he's never watched her stream... People are fucked.

Totally agree. People who say those stuff should imagine if the person they give hate was their family member. 100% confident that they would approach the situation differently. The kys part was definitely unnecessary.
I first heard about her because of Pewdiepie drama and like everybody i didn't like her. Then I've seen all the drama videos but didn't care because why would I?
But when a few days ago I've seen a clip of her crying on stream and talking about people not letting her move from her past I felt really sorry for her.
We're all lucky to have dr. K on twitch because in the last few weeks I've seen many streamers open up about their feelings and maybe that will help people understand that streamers are human too.
I hope Alinity gets the peace she deserves.

Actions speak louder than words and at the bare minimum of the shit that she’s done she should’ve been banned/suspended on twitch NUMEROUS times. What most people don’t understand is that twitch used to be a safe haven for a lot of people. Streamers like alinity have “ruined” the platform for them. There hate is justified to an extent, just like her suffering.

Just because someone is speeding down the road and gets into a car accident doesn't mean it's the police's fault for not catching the person.
I just don't get why anybody cares so much. If I think a streamer is a shitty person, I just don't watch. To me, nothing's worse than total isolation, so going there and harassing them is not only not the worst thing you can do, but it also supports their growth.

@@sully6261 So I just watched those clips for the first time, and it's utter lunacy to call either one abuse. She doesn't throw her cat, she picks it up and drops it over the back of her chair. And giving her cat a tiny bit of alcohol was probably something it didn't enjoy, but it's clearly not even remotely close to enough to do any actual harm to the cat. I didn't even know it was harmful to them. I've met people who give their pets alcohol, and I've met people who hot box with their pets to get them high.
And there's another clip I found, where her cat bites her, and it hurts a lot. If she were an abuser, her immediate reaction would be to hit the cat, but instead she just curls up in pain and laughs it off. Plus, the cat just sits there, rubbing its cheeks on her armrest and looking in her direction. This is what cats do when they want attention. It makes zero sense for an abused animal to attack its abuser, then look for attention immediately after.
But even interpreting everything the worst way possible, and pretending she abuses her cat, why harass her about it? Giving her more attention is only going to make her more money, which will encourage her to do more of this kind of thing. If you think she's broken a law, report her. Otherwise, move on with your life. I promise it'll hurt her way more to fade into irrelevancy than to profit off her haters.

I always felt like the people are projecting their hatred of Twitch towards Alinity. They are angry at Twitch for allowing Alinity to get away with things that normal people would have been banned forever. There is no face for Twitch but there is a face of Alinity to direct your hatred.

When you think about it, it's entirely Twitch to blame for her constant ongoing hate. The company has absolutely no transparency or consistency when it comes to their rules and as a result, millions of viewers take it upon themselves to "dispense justice" because they believe Twitch isn't doing anything. Twitch is just sitting there raking in money from this massive system of online bullying.

I think what Alinity doesn’t realise is that the hate is only happening because she won’t own up to her mistakes. People didn’t care that she copyright striked Pewdiepie’s video. What people really got annoyed about was her pushing the blame onto someone else and victimising herself to make her look good and Pewdiepie look bad. Even now after all time she still doesn’t understand that all the hate will go away if she made a genuine apology where she said what she did and promised to be a better person. Trust me that is all it takes. People have been forgiven for much worse crimes, but they have to prove that they’ve changed.

It's sad how just a few days ago everyone was committing to take people's mental health more seriously but no one is willing to let Alinity move on from her past. She's apologized and I hope she genuinely understands what she did was wrong, but you can't just write off someone as an "evil" person that doesn't exist if you give them a chance/environment to prove themselves.
There is a certain threshold of major 'fuck-ups' people can tolerate and accept the change before it becomes too much. Alinity did not just act like a complete pos once. Nor twice, nor trice etc. etc., I can remember 6 such occasions just from the top of my head and the actual figure is somewhere in the double digits.
Plus, I have near zero trust for people who start a discussion with "I am probably going to cry", it is a blatant appeal to emotions that gets abused way too often nowadays.
She'd have to go through some miracle level redemption arc for people to forgive her and frankly I don't expect her to put this much effort into it. If it actually happens, I'll be more than happy to eat my words, but until then I'll remain VERY skeptical like, I would imagine, a majority of people.
She didn't apologize though. She is trying to put it behind her without actually dedicating herself to being better
Atom Knight That’s the thing “it” isn’t just one thing it’s multiple things she’s done. Simply put I agree with the whole worse thing to happen to twitch shit. She breaks so many rules and it doesn’t matter. She is the type of person that should not be on twitch and deal with internet culture. If she wants to better herself she just needs to disappear from the internet for awhile. Come back when she’s fully confident in herself. Trying to improve yourself while having constant negativity in your face isn’t ideal.

It's really easy to shape someone's opinion on someone when you only see negative things about them. People should do more research before they attack people. Alinity isn't a bad person, just made some bad choices and learned from them.
I have to admit, this video changed my mind about a lot in the internet.
You always superficially hear how hurtful hate is on the internet, but you never truly understand it.
Hearing Alinity talk in depth about how shitty some people on the internet can be and how it has truly affected her, makes me really comprehend the mental effects of hate on the internet.
It also makes me wonder- how do people have the time to hate so much? And what makes them do that? It seems like you need to have a serious incentive to wake up everyday and send hate to CZcamsrs. Those people need some help.
Understanding these things makes me understand the responsibility we have as a community on the internet and the real affect we can have on the people we watch.
I personally never liked Alinity and still think she could do some things differently (mostly because of the Pewdipie thing), but this was helpful in humanizing her and showing that also she deserves empathy.

It depends what the "haters" do. Donald Trump has a lot of haters. Is he supposed to be immune to criticism? People do stupid things and get the bill for it. America is known for the court of public opinion more than any other nation on earth. The things you say and do have consequences and as Dr. K rightfully points out she has done statistically much more shit than the average public figure. And she definitely deserves backlash. But the question is what kind of backlash. The things people say dont come from nowhere. She should have been banned a couple of times more than she actually was. That is without any doubt. And i strongly believe that twitch played a big role in how it ended up with her. They make exceptions for some and then go overly harsh on other streamers... This certainly escalated the situation.
We, the twitch community need to foster a more forgiving and more accepting space for gamers because this is unacceptable. I don't want to see people run off the platform because of hate, or learn of someone's suicide because of the internet. We need to be better :/

It's one thing to be forgiving, but I think the main issue is the prolonging of hatred and aggressive behavior, purely for the sake of memeing basically. People who have nothing better to do but jump from one band wagon of anger or insane hype towards a person or subject, most of the time with no context other than hearing it from another person who's just being mad because it's the trend at that moment.

Honestly I'd recommend it mate, I've never paid much attention to Alinity except for the drama I see her in. the clip where she throws her cat doesn't look like she was just trying to set the cat up on her chair. it looks like she genuinely threw the cat. most of the videos where she's harassing her pets show her laughing after the fact, with no remorse. (and there's a disturbing amount of these pet clips.) after the vodka kiss, she simply says "I told you it was vodka."
i can see how being drunk, bipolar manic, etc. can all contribute to things like this, but reasons are not valid excuses. these are the only behaviors out of alinity I've ever seen that have upset or disgusted me. they're also the only ones that can't be fixed with a simple apology, but require a complete change in behavior regarding them.

I notice that a lot of the "hater" comments on this video follow a common theme: that everyone who doesn't hate Alinity is a "simp" for her. This seems to take two primary forms.
On one hand the label "simp" is used as an excuse to dismiss the words of people who are not hating her. The people making this accusation most likely believe that their hate is the rational response to her behavior. As a result, the act of not hating is irrational "simping", which in this case is an irrational defense of an objectified female due to a parasocial fascination with her. This most likely ties in close with the accusation that Alinity sleeps away from all her problems; that she is using her sex appeal in order to muster an army of "white knights" (an older term used to refer to males who defend females in the wrong) that defend her bad behavior. This is not correct, however, as there are reasons to not hate random women online other than to get into her pants. Legitimate reasons include not caring about internet drama, not believing that internet harassment is a good tool for positive change, not believing that her crimes warrant the amount of harassment, and believing that she has suffered enough so she shouldn't be haunted by old things. There might also be an element of projection; the "haters" might feel attracted to her and might have been, in a different life, "simps" for her. They might be using the hate as a sort of coping or control mechanism to distance themselves from and view themselves superior to someone they see as more physically attractive than them.
The second use of the label "simp" was that the existence of some "simps" justifies and diminishes the hate. Someone wrote that they have never bullied anyone in their life, yet they hate on Alinity because she wants the hate as it makes her more popular and more wealthy. This is a really interesting take, as it kind of shows a symbiotic relation between the "simps" and the "haters". There also seems to be a sort of contradiction of belief at play. The "haters" want her canceled and ruined, but at the same time they justify their hate as not that bad as it actually makes other people "simp" more for her, making her more money. Do they really want her canceled, if they then turn around and say they are actually doing the opposite? Perhaps the "haters" are failed "simps", or the "simps" are failed "haters"?

although obviously it’s very sad to see the amount of vitriol random people feel compelled to espouse in nearly every single thread in this comment section, i think you touch on a super interesting observation. what exactly drives these people to go out of their way to post such hateful things about her? it’s different than merely disliking or being repulsed by her; typically if you don’t like someone, you would just ignore them and try to remove them from your life. yet you see these people go out of their way to click on a video about her, spend time writing a comment, and interact with something they could’ve very easily just not clicked on in the first place. it’s a parasocial fascination and obsession with someone just like ‘simping’, but on a different end of the spectrum, both sides of which are pretty clearly rooted in a misogynistic obsession with some random woman they truly don’t know anything about on the internet. it’s fascinating, in a really sad way. truly baffling to me.

it reminds me of a kid i went to school with, poor guy attracted the hate of everybody, people picked on him for everything and nothing, call him names, at lunch he would sit alone the whole table for himself as people avoided him like he had the plague and people in charge of us would threaten us with forcing us to sit with him at lunch when we were too rowdy. i think they did this because they felt bad for him and wanted people to interact with him. the worst thing with all of this is that he wasn't ugly or anything, just chubby and as far as i know never did anything to deserve that hate. however he would fight back when people picked on him, i guess they liked getting a reaction. i never forgot his name and sometimes wonder what happened to him.

That was basically my experience in elementary/middle school. It was pretty rough, there were other terrible things going on at home but I'm not going to mention anything.
Before I moved schools, since the abuse there was too much, there was a new kid and he became the new target for everyone.
If I'll be honest, I almost see myself as her when I listen to her speak. I've been seeing a therapist for almost a year straight over hatred from other people during my 1st year at university. I did things which were never completely right and I got people kicking at my flat door room over it, yelling and denouncing behavior. Spam calls and messages, authorities coming over heresy and even a pastoral carer being emotionally abusive because of my mistakes. I retreated into gaming as an extreme measure to escape, not buying food properly, losing weight, panicking in every waking moment. I was given a gap year to mend my broken self on a miracle of convincing my department to let me come back and try again.
I considered suicide, I cry on a daily basis, I have nightmares about my world crumbling around me, insomnia, I even have images of myself burning alive from the raw pain of those emotions because they do not come out without washing over you and filling you up with the urge to scream. Everyday has become such a habit of self-sabotage, it becomes a coping mechanism to feel normal, and wearing my pain becomes my identity; because I started to believe what people would say about me.
Now I still suffer from it, wondering if I will ever be better again, watching Guru's like Dr k to try to adapt and cope however I can, but of course I'm not Alinity, I'm Rory.
It almost scares me how much people hide about themselves, that maybe if I opened up to someone else and took more risks, I could find solace in meaningful interaction, much like hearing Alinity tell her own story.
I must confess I believed the hate on Alinity was real, because what I see in people like her are the things I reject about myself, and it makes me a horrible person.
Whatever happens, I hope she does not end her life. I would suggest listening to recommended music, it helps me find something new to grieve with. Finding something new always helps.

I understand the emotions that person can go through, but Alinity is just a case of fake emotions and complete acting. The last few years shes been ruining the platform that many people enjoy and getting rich off it, several youtubers spoke out about this (Penguinz01 for example). What she is doing is completely wrong and she doesnt learn from her mistakes. Yes, I understand Alinity faces some hate n shit, but it doesnt approve of what she has been doing. Twitch has been ignoring everyone about this, and when Alinity self-requested a suspension, they out of nowhere suspended her 3 days, just shows how incapable they are, and Alinity always took advantage of it to get away from multiple faults she has done. If a person had abused its pet, made several explicit incursions and exploited its viewership on a platform you enjoy being on and spend a lot of time on, would you just ignore it and move on?
Dr. K is a sage. I don't know who Alinity is, nor have I ever seen any of her streams, and I'm quite glad because I feel this is a much more honest interpretation of her than what is being said.

Just to add something, I feel like some streamers ask for this interview to defend themselves and not to open up and try to find an answer to their problems. This is not an issue for me because I get the best out of the interview but for the streamer, it is not very effective.
You are right, but it us difficult to change the streamers intention. If they really want help then they will focus on their issues rather than clearing their name.

Dr K, I love your work but I truly think you should take a deep dive into the streaming community outside of just the one on one videos you make. The community can be horrifically toxic. The negative people don't care about someone improving. They want to troll, they want to follow the pack of wolves that just attack. This is a daily thing with dozens and dozens of streamers and especially women. And the level of drama between the streamers themselves on Twitter and other social accounts doesn't help. This issue is so much larger than it might appear or that you realize. Drama channels exist for this very reason, to expose these negative interactions between streamers and often times how these streamers react to their community. It's an entire culture that exists to expose people's faults and not give them the ability to learn or grow. Yes people make mistakes and they should, but once it happens, the attackers start. Please dig deeper into this community as a whole. I watch very little between twitch and CZcams and even with my limited exposure I see it is rampant. You deserve credit for working to help these individuals see how their thoughts and feeling impact their lives and suggesting strategies, but as an internet culture, things need to change at the macro level. While you certainly can help an individual, helping change a mindset in a culture and community should be a larger focus to improve the environment as a whole. I would love to see the streamers themselves attack less and stand up for one another, speak out against these vicious trolls and users that only participate to attack. As a content creating community, they all need to stand together, speak out against these haters, and establish a methodology and culture that sticks together and supports one another. Dig into twitter, dig into these stream communities, dig into the drama channels that promote these conflicts and stir up the hatred. Keep up the great work but I do believe this is a much larger systemic problem that isn't visible unless you really research how toxic this whole community can get. The fact you've never heard of Keemstar is a massive issue in your overall exposure to the problem. I would even wager haters will emerge following your video that will attack Alinity. There are many many healthy streams and good communities and users, don't get me wrong. But there are millions of faceless and nameless people sitting in front of a screen that want to spread pain and misinformation. And it doesn't end. They attack day after day. A drama channel puts out a story, they attack again. A streamer posts about another streamer, they attack again. It's a terrible cycle and needs a more thorough review. Even by the time this video got to the section where you're laughing about how silly the whole situation is because "that's just how the internet is", that severely SEVERELY minimizes what's happening here. Please don't take this topic on such a surface level. I don't see many channels like yours on CZcams so you might be the right person to take this leap. If you want a healthier gaming community as a whole, healthier gamers and streamers, a healthier Dr K community, you need to expand your reach and fully understand the problem. Everyone feels better in the moment of being helped, but life goes on after that and nothing will change outside of the small bubble of this video. Best of luck.

You know, I completely agree with you--myself, my friends, and the community in twitch and youtube in general is often terribly toxic and completely insensitive. However, I don't think a systemic problem of CULTURE can be really solved by broadly talking about the issue. Take a look at some of his Q&A sessions and he talks about the psychology of a toxic individual quite often. The cycle that you mention seems to be a direct conclusion of some of the insecurities and loneliness that Dr. K states as possible baselines for the 'nameless dramatist'. However, there has been massive critiques on the community by several people with larger platforms than Dr. K, and I know that I personally would never change simply because some big personality states it's hurting their feelings. I think the point of AoE healing is that these individual micro heals will always help the culture, little by little, instead of polarizing the issue further.
It should be noted that only the head honchos at youtube and twitch are capable of creating systemic level change, and from what we've seen of their policies, it's probably a bad idea to let them make any new decisions.

I sit here day after day watching a video or stream and honestly it hurts to see what people on these sites go through. I saw a Dr K video and then the next and the next and the cup overflowed. I felt it important to at least say what I did and maybe broaden the scope, if even in the smallest way. Thank you again for the feedback. I completely agree with this. But would like to add onto what you said, I think one of the biggest problems is that often times the "good communities and good users" can be the same "nameless faceless people spreading pain and misinformation." There are definitely bad outliers (people who send death threats and targeted harassment and tell people to kill themselves) who are not in the majority. But in my opinion, the majority of the pain is caused by normal people who feel justified in expressing hate because of the way the narrative has been pushed.
Alinity is the perfect example of this, because the baseline stories that the internet criticizes her for are truly worthy of criticism. She threw her cat over her chair, she fed her cat vodka, she joked about abusing copyright law for her own monetary gain (and the video did get struck, but not by her, or at her direction, what she said was intended to just be a joke), she had a nip slip, she joked about her past relationship in a way that sounded like she committed marriage fraud and was proud of it. All of these things are worthy of criticism, and normal people will hear them and criticize them.
The issue is that normal people (and streamers) take these mistakes, and cache in on the righteous anger that feels so good, because if the hate is deserved, it doesn't feel so much like hate. Again, I'm not saying that normal people hear all this and issue death threats. BUT, normal people do hear these things and tend to completely write her off as a "bad person" and tend to overlook things like her apologizing, or owning up to her mistakes. Those things don't fit the narrative of "she is a bad person to the core", and it feels good to criticize people for bad things they do. It feels like you're making the world a better place by condemning evil things.
The issue arises when the narrative about someone is being pushed SOLELY for people to use it as an outlet for what they feel as justified hatred or criticism. Again, I say Alinity is the perfect example of this because all of the criticisms are rooted in truth. But the snowballing narrative that has come out of those truths is by and large, false, exaggerated, and offers her no way of moving past it or "making up for it".
I say all this to highlight how even the "good ones" (myself included) can contribute to these kind of cultures simply by being too eager to express their "righteous" anger, since sometimes the narrative will end up being somewhat false, just to encourage that outlet for justified anger. Each person needs to ask themselves "why do I dismiss this person?" "why do I write her off as nothing more than a 'twitch thot'?" "what could she do in order to make me forgive her?" And actively avoid buying into narratives that amount to "X PERSON BAD BECAUSE Y" and then writing off everything they do or say as wrong or disingenuous as a result. That's the only way to reverse this kind of culture.

Maybe that's a good point too, Dr K jumps into these conversations based on users saying he should talk to person X or Y, and maybe he doesn't know the entire back story to these individuals. Certainly people should be held accountable for their actions, but they'll also come on Dr Ks stream and give their truth. Whether that's real, perception, or purposeful lies, he doesn't really know. He's just reacting to what they're saying. I think I was just trying to point out to him it's a much bigger issue that needs to be explored when it comes to these streamer interviews. I think with his own community, they don't necessarily have the size communities of these streamers. But I just see these interviews and think to myself "if he only really knew what was happening". But your point is well taken about the community as a whole, justified or not, righteous not not, accountable or not, it is a mixed bag.
