"when I get old..." That's the right attitude.
Right...🙂
I Loved it.
Exactly. I love it. She's 73 and says "when I get old", and yet most people today are saying they are old at 30 and 40 something. I want to be like this lady if I live to be 73. She's also beautiful...such a hot bod:)
loved that!
Beat me to it.
That 73-year-old lady is more in shape than my 23-year-old self
funny!
Buy a pair of skates and get in shape. It will make you feel great!
@@fettigeredgar I have them ( and protections gear) but i'm too afraid to go on my own... I've tried but i can make only 30 shaking meters. I would like to properly learn how to skate with someone who's already good at it
@@AloneintheLight96 where are you from? Aren't there many skaters where you're from?
Just ask for help, people will gladly take the chance of teaching you :)
@@fettigeredgar I live in a small town in Italy so there are not skating schools here, but one day i'm planning to learn one way or the other! Skating is something that has always fascinated me, the flow of motion, but it's difficult do it so smoothly!
I'm 40, after watching this video I bought my first roller skates ever, this week I start classes 🙌🏻
Good Luck :DD
How did it go? :D
Good for you....you go, girl:)
Good for you, sir 👍👍
Good luck!! Mine just arrived🙂 this is gonna be fun (and painful...)
WOW, hat down.
Awesome, inspiring.
She said: "when I get older", brilliant 😀.
Smile says everything!
She is Amazing
“Skating feels a bit like being in a flying dream.” Truer words were never spoken. I’m 52 and skate at least 3 times a week. Never stop having fun, never stop flying. This is the best CZcams video I’ve ever seen.
I'm so happy everyone loves Edwina's story. She is a joy to teach and a model student. I can't see her stopping any time soon!
I am 54, been skating since I was 8, Inline when they came out in 1987, so I can’t imagine just doing it for the 1st time at 69! Wow! I recently started wearing the Powerslide padded shorts, they are very low profile, don’t restrict movement , can breathe, and will protect my bum & thighs when I fall. I am skating more aggressively in my turns on mixed terrain, learning to jump, wanting to learn transitions so bad! I wish you were in Orange County, CA Asha, I really need hands on help with that! Will you ever come to OC or San Diego?
@@HeadNtheClouds I'm afraid I have no USA plans for the next few years. But why don't you let me teach you online. The info I give in my real classes is exactly the same technical information that's in my video courses. I made them especially for people like you who want to learn but don't have access to professional instruction. I even teach you in the course how to video yourself so you can see the common problems (which are also identified and how to fix them). You can try each course for free to see how you like it.
The Transitions I teach in the Intermediate How to Skate course so check out the Free class there. You'll be amazed how many students I have around the world who are learning all these skills successfully via video.
inlineskatecourse.com/how-to-skate-intermediate/
However I do also offer "online Video Coaching" if you'd rather have me analyse your practice videos and give you personalised feedback. But I would start with the online course first as its the much cheaper way to get all the technical info you need. et me know how you get on.
Skating is the closest I've ever been to flying. The joy we get from sprinting around town and just eating up the miles on eight wheels is delightful! I was in the best shape of my life at age 50 when I was skating 60 to 80 miles per week, alone and with friends. Pure joy!
Skating really is the best:)
I'll be 70 in just 4 days, and I still inline skate. I wish I lived in London, so I could skate with Edwina!
Bravo to you Magic Unicorn! I bet you are an inspiration in your community. Where do you skate?
At 73 years old she said when I get old. I love her attitude. Age is just a number.
Edwina, you're an inspiration! I LOVE YOU, my dear! I'm a 72 yr old woman who used to inline skate every day until I was crippled by a neurological disorder that took away much of the fun in life.
If I could still skate I'd head for London and pay you to show me around the city of my ancestors... on skates!! You look so happy -- I remember how that felt and how impossible it was not to smile as I flew down the street, dodging traffic and singing to myself.
Big hugs to you; I really wish there were more of us old bags who enjoy getting out on our wheels and ripping up the streets!
And I love your post here! She is definitely very inspiring. Hope you are well! Sending love from Germany
Check out Irene Lyon's work on You Tube. You can heal your nervous system!
You never see a runner smiling! Do you. lol. Way to go! I have been skating for 20 yrs and met my beautiful girlfriend of 6 yrs now on skates. I cant stop and Im 57 now.
"I cant stop and Im 57 now"......me too
No need to stop. Keep doing what you love and it will love you back.
That's a great story.
@@SkatefreshVideos 🙏🏼❤️❤️
I want to start at 55. Do you have any tips?
And I’m over here scared to fall and I’m 35.... after watching this I purchased my first skates. What an inspiration you are!
I hope to be like this lady when I'm her age!
Me too!
@@SkatefreshVideos eu também...😍😍😍
I am like her but at age 25
@@Y2Kvids You've spectacularly missed the point here. 😂
Lana Sídhe I don’t think she missed the point. She is saying that the lady is like 25 years old
My first time (ever) on skates was my 50th birthday, now skate at least 5hrs a week. Loved the "when I get old" comment, and so aligned with the smile.
I started at 58, and thought about myself as a badass old man, but you just blew me away! Way to go, girl!!
Cant wait to skate with you in Sao Paulo in January!
@@SkatefreshVideos I´m looking forward to it! Can I already book it? :-D
My hero!! I am starting to roller skate again outside...I'm 46 my friend said I'm to old...I know the divine sent me this video...skating is life!!!
I’m 35 and have been skating less than a year, seeing a 73 yr old woman having the time of her life on skates just let’s me know I got a lot of skating to do!!
I'm 44 and expend the last 11 years to rollerblade, is my happiness i do it around the world and teach the beginners makes me so proud.
Ha, I'm coming up on 50, and I get weird looks when I'm skating. Hope I'm still on wheels in 20 years. You Rock 😎
I'm coming up on 70, and started doing ramps at skateboard parks 2 years ago. I get the weird looks too! LOL
Fuck the weird looks, just have fun and stay fit!
As you get older, the weird looks will turn to smiles. I have a pleasant exchange with someone every time I roll out - a favourite remains a Sumo wrestler with a skateboard muttering ‘Awesome’.
This is so inspiring!! Look at her body, she's in such a good shape! Rock on Edwina, this video is my favorite this year! :-)))
Yeah . Just screw those wierd looks . Screw it the best you can and they'll turn to smiles , I tell"ya . . .
Stay positive and don't get on the wrong wheels . . . 😉
I'm about to turn 50, and just started a couple of weeks ago. I spent several years skating with quads, and a few days on ice skates, but never in-lines until now (they really didn't exist, back when I was skating). A few days ago I converted our three-car garage into a mini-rink, complete with lasers and disco-lights. :D
There's a woman after my own heart. I started inline skating at age 67. I'm now 69 and share nearly all of Edwina's sentiments!
Why aren’t there more of us Paul? It is not easy to get your head around the moves, but that’s good for us and it IS easy on joints and impact. Roll on the rink at the Daycare Centre!
@@edwinaellis3288 Exactly! I think you're a bit ahead of me in skills, but I have a lot of fun and was averaging about 40 miles/week in the warmer months. Great exercise! Like you, I love that side-to-side gliding motion! And I sometimes also get the funny looks and big smiles...like they don't know what to make of an old guy on skates! Thanks for saying "hi"!
Did you have any skating knowledge/practice in any form as a youngster?
@@r.g.horseracing2279 Almost none. I had a pair of the kind of skates you clamp on to shoes, but I lived in the country along gravel roads, so there was only about 25 feet of sidewalk to skate on. Boring.
Good on you lady! I'm 60 now and have taken up skating again since when it was popular back in the 90's. I have the same feeling as you...every time I'm out on skates...I wonder why people aren't doing the same. It's such a feeling of freedom
Good for you. I'm 60 and started skating again a few years ago. I began on quads way back in the 70s skating / disco craze and it's still fun.
Hey - its beginning to look like we might be starting a movement: so exciting! #Skatefresh asha and her how-to freebies, apps and online courses are there with us.
Age isn't a barrier. Well done for having the courage to start something new. I like to think I'll still be rolling at 73.
the guy @1:30
“fanTAstiC” is the cutest thing to me ☺️ BRAVO ! hope i’m this active at her age
That's exactly why she's 73. This woman got a long lifespan because she's carefree and active.
I started inline skating at 60. I'm currently 64 and it's true people are amased to see what they think of as an 'old person' skating. I regularly get stopped for a chat and loads of people have told me that seeing me out and about on the streets skating has encouraged them to do more exercise. It puts a smile on people's faces and I'm forever getting waved at. One parent told me that I am a hero to his young daughter who is now skating, she is about 5 years old. Skating is infectious. And Asha plays a big part in this, I learnt to skate mostly from her videos. Thanks Asha. All the best from Norwich.
Bravo! People stare at me when I skate the trails and have even commented I'm too old to be skating. Really? They need to watch this video.
I was at a dinner this evening with the parents of a friend who on discovering I was a skate teacher said "Aren't you too old for that kind of thing?". "Not when my students are in their 50s, 60s and 70s I replied.
beyond words inspiring thank you from Ohio a 48 year-old woman rollerblader minimum four times a week. funny I call it flying just like you do.igo 26 m.p.h.i have been clocked .... some Ranger at the Metro Park. I skate 125 mm wheels .... Amazon for $200. rollerblade Alpha 125mm skated.on sale $175.00
and .....thankyou for the awsome ...cool...
video....😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🌶
Gosh that’s fast! I improve very slowly and have to constantly go back to real basics: stance etc., but have learned to feel pleased about tiny incremental advances - like rungs of a ladder.
Perfect girl! I'm 39 and just started and I was thinking Im too old for this:)) Thank you for your inspiration!!!
I'm 43 and started 2 moths ago with a teacher. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
At 73 she still is fit, with a healthy young vibe, and it inpired us because she break the boundary of our inline skating life. So 73 up we can all still skate. Inspired.
Please tell her she needs to have her own CZcams channel documenting her progress, skills and fearlessness at her renaissance. I hope there's video of her when she first started.
It definitely would be inspiring to late starters at the young age of 50 and above.
Gotta promote skating.
I'll suggest it to her. She is so modest about her achievements however. This summer she started learning the Powerslide and backward skating with transitions! She's a model student and comes to classes regularly. I've never seen her fall because she has such good technique.
Yes, she's totally right, I started also late, at 48, now I'm 51, the only thing I can tell is that it is a wonderful feeling to be over wheels, I'm writing from Barcelona, and at the place where I skate there is a man of 82, I don't know much about his experience but Manuel is by far an enchanting person full of life at his 82.
This is awesome. It's never too late to skate. Don't be afraid to rollerblade.
💖💖💖💖. Im 37 and I love to skate. I have been skating indoors for the past 3 years. I started skating outdoors yesterday and absolutely love it. A great workout. Edwina youre awesome!!!!
Don't let your age stop you from your passions if you are feeling like you're in your 20s then live like that.
I'm also 52 from Berlin and I've been skating whenever possible for 5
years and I want to keep doing it as long as possible. Stay tuned and
have fun! Its fantastic to see Edwina and how much she enjoys skating.
It is such low impact Tom, I am sure you will keep on. I skated Berlin this year with Asha’s Skatefresh Tour: a highlight was Templehof Airport which I flew into in 1989 - but also Flaeming. Lucky you!
@@edwinaellis3288 Thank you Edwina , good Luck also to you!
Mam, you're right. I always smile when I'm skating. And I'm also wondering why there are just few people skating, though it feels fantastic.
Huge respect to you! 🙏
She’s awesome!!! I love it when she said “ When I get Old”........ what a great example she is that your as old as you feel!! Age is nothing but a number!! Never too old to get outside and skate!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow! I'm smiling! At 73 I want to be smiling and skating like her!
My dear, I am just turned 60. My daughter, who is a famous derby and park skater, taught me how to skate again when I was 58 and I am never going to stop! You are an inspiration to me!
So inspiring. I'm 53 and hadn't used inline skates since I was 25. Jus purchased a pair. Been out a few times and was surprised how difficult it was. But started watching your videos, and am taking it slow, really learning the basics. I've set a one year goal to practice and learn. Love your graceful style, Asha. Watching this video only motivates me more. I'm actually looking forward to the challenge, growth and progression!
Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Congratulations for picking up the skates again! Asha has produced professional online video courses especially for people who want to learn right from the beginning and have a goal in mind. These courses are way more detailed than the videos in CZcams and I really recommend them to you. It's like being in a private class with Asha. Please check the free samples here: inlineskatecourse.com/courses/
Amazing that's the attitude we all need to have...💕👍🤗
Thank you Edwina, I'm 25 and I've been skating since I was very young. Racing, tricks, traveling, it's all enjoyable. You give me hope that I'll still be doing what I love even when I'm older. 🤙 💜
I hope you do too, Lissa Anne2 - with skating as part of your life, perhaps like me, you won’t notice you are ‘old’?
I haven't skated for 20 years. Just got the powerslide next 110. I feel free as a bird. Smiling, carving, soaring having the time of my life. You are spot on thank you for such positive wisdom
I started skating at 5 years old. I'm 21 now. I hope I also can skate at 71.
You skate with grace.
I've always wanted to inline skate and this video motivated me to take classes, I'm 39 and I'll let you know how it goes.
It's a joy seeing Edwina fly along on skates with her hair in the wind, this is happiness!
She makes me very happy every time she's in class and she's always smiling.
What a charming and gorgeous woman! Wow, true inspiration to all of us, and definitely me, who are afraid of starting something new no matter the age!!!
Never to old to skate 💗
Brilliant. You notice she is feeling young and great on skates. Lovely. I started with 44 and now I regularly practice either figure skating ⛸ on ice or inline skating. I agree, everybody can do it. Cheers from Madrid.
We are as old as we feel! And skating makes us feel young, healthy, vibrant and alive! Keep it up.
You're my hero.
I mean it.
You have inspired me to just be. Live.
Who effin cares about age!!!
Yes #winged love - do stuff you love - and you will not even notice your age!
I hope I can skate when I’m 73
You ❤️ Will
Me, too. I was practically born on skates.
Quad skater here, coming back from a 15-year hiatus. I surely hope to keep on going when I reach this point in my life!
"When I get old"..that's the spirit!!hell yeaa
Love this! Perfect to show all my mates saying “we are too old for that!”
Super stuff. I'm 53. My new inline skates are on the way and I can't wait. I used to do roller disco when I was a teen and loved it. Like you I love that floating/gliding feeling.🙂🙂🙂
Thanks for this beautiful video. Everything is so true. I fell in love with skating when inline skates got out of the grave in the 1990's. 19yo, then, 52 now, and skating remains the only way I can truly find FREEDOM in our urban environment.
Thanks for sharing!! It's great you are still skating and I'm sure you're inspiring others to take it up without even knowing.
I AM SO SUPER INSPIRED XOX LOVE THIS ENERGY AND POSITIVITY
I loved your video! I am so proud of you. You are so awesome!!! Never stop skating!!! I have several friends who skated well into their late 80's. Skating is the fountain of youth. I am 51, and I still skate every week, and I still race against teenagers (and beat them!! (Except for my 16 Yr. Old son, he's a bullet!!)) I have all 3 of my sons skating now, and I couldn't be happier about that! I wish we could come and skate with you. We would have a great time. MASA!!! (Make America Skate Again)
This lady is the best example of forever young. I’m 60 been skating for 30 years never had a bad experience that took my passion away.
Been skating since I was three years old..BRUH..she's so inspiring..
Wow what a great body balance with speed skating I like your skating
YES I LOVE THAT COMMENT SHE MADE"WHEN I GET OLD".. HOW GRACIOUS!!!
Mam, you are absolutely fabulous!!!! No, you do not look like you are in your 70;s. You have a better body than many 20-year-olds. You are blessed.
This is one of the most motivative things I've ever seen! Great job!
This lady is such an inspiration! Wowwwwwwwww not even my mom n shes 51. When im old ima b like this lady on the streets rocking it with skates. N yes great attitude in life! #1 there
At 69, recovering from a second back surgery, living in a camper with no space is making me depressed and is driving me insane. I MUST MOVE. Somehow someway I can feel this😘 skating, this would be my version of ice skating since I loved doing that as a young woman. Edwina, you now have my attention! Thank you, I feel deeply motivated.
Inspiring me to roller skate again!
This woman is my hero and new role model. I just turned 55 and I am doing this!
Loved this such a Inspiration!
I cant wait till my New Inline Skates come in the mail.
Thanks for Posting.
Madam, you're an inspiration!
You rock!!!! I'm just almost 40 and everyone looks confused seeing me rollerblading...i guess you right, the most important thing is the smile on my face ♥️
Fantastic! I thought I was at the upper end at 58! Thanks sister!
....And you have great style!!!
I like to skate too! 😀and I want to do it forever. Thanks for the inspiration
Edwina you are simply AMAZIN!G! thank you.
Omg. I'm smiling more. Love it!
Very nice...I am 55 and a month ago I have started skating...it make me feel very good...lot to go, but after watching you, I will never stop. Thanks,
Well done you 👍
Amazing!! Roller skating is my passion too and to look at her roller skating in her 70”s she looks great and young
And she's on the Next80s🔥 You are awesome, keep it up. Skating is like life, always a lesson. True freedom and happiness.🙏
Great video! Go Edwina! Go Asha! Skating 50+ years and still going strong at 66. Cheers!
Less than 2 months before I turned 64, I started skating after not skating for close to 50 years. That was six months ago. I roll nearly everyday. I'm on quads but want to try rollerblades, too. I have a pin in my left ankle and severe arthritis from a triple fracture when I was 20; plates in both feet from bunionectomy; and a curved spine. Watch me move, dance and skate and you would never know any of that. Never tell me I can't because I will. Skate smart, but skate! I loved seeing this video of Edwina Ellis skating. Inspirational.
Fabulous, well done YOU! Sounds like I should be making a video about you too! Well done for keeping active and doing the things that you love. It is sooo important.
When you transition to inlines, consider using my online course so that you don't get the common Quaddie to inline problems like inside edge pronation and rubbing top of ankle cuffs. You can try it out for free on this page by clicking free trial. It should help you understand the differences between the two and what you need to do to skate well on inlines. Even with the additional ankle support of inlines you want to make sure you are getting the support in the right place (at the front) and not at the sides. Quads are always flat so there's none of this to contend with and that's why quarries often suffer with pronation and the ankle issues that creates. You particularly don't want to have additional ankle strain happening.
skatefresh.com/product/how-to-skate-beginner-level-full-course/
Let me know how the transition goes when you get inlines.
This lady is an INSPIRATION
Thank you Asha for featuring her. Very inspiring. She's just what i wish to be doing in my 70s! i'll do my best to make this a reality. Peeps on the street are so motivating and positive. I wish many years to that wonderful lady.
Edwina, I love you!
You have told my story except I'm in my first year at age 48. The smiling and constant giggling are what amaze me too. Thank you for your smiles, and your story.
I'm 40, getting back into skating after 6 years away, and I was worried I was too old. Now I have a new role model, and a proper understanding of age as how you feel, not your miles on the clock!
Can't hold the smile on my face when I watch this video. Thank you!
Hi Edwina brilliant great to see you having such fun, I skate down in Cornwall its hilly, wet and windy but I just love it, going to come up to London and try and skate across the bridges crossing the Thames!
Great stuff Steve, check out www.londonstreetskates.com 😉
@@derezzedsoul9461 thanks for the link will look forward to coming to London in the near future.
Hi Steve - also, check out ESS on FB who meet on Saturday 10.30am Battersea Park. Friendly bunch and I skate over Albert Bridge to meet them.
You are inspiring
Hats off YOUNG LADY 😎
I’m 51. Edwina true, I smile too, i happy when i skate. It is fun.
Way to go Edwina - you are an inspiration to us all!
I skated for a couple years back in the 1980s, I loved it because it felt so much like downhill skiing. I was a ski instructor back then and the skills learned in one discipline easily moved to the other. Marriage, a new house, and work ended my skating and skiing days. A month ago, I bought a new pair of skates and am loving to be back in my mid-60s. I want to skate with Edwina when I grow up!
I'm so greatful that you took the time to post this. I'm 39 and also just started inline skating also on the poweralide next 80 skates. I'm still learning the basics but loving every moment of it! Great way to get around. Let's make skating great again!
Martin - Yesss!
56 and putting on skates for the first time in 25 years. Thank you sooo much for the inspiration!! Keep up the awesome work!
That's awesome. Keep it up. If you need any proper help, check out the free classes in the description box of any of my videos as they are thorough and go into proper details which I often skip on CZcams. Edwina says she would never have got so far without "proper" instruction. Hope they help, you can take as many as you like and have lifetime access. Or have a look on Skatefresh.com. Enjoy.
As a 59 yr old newbie skater I love this 😊😍😍😍👍👍👍👍🛼🕺
She’s inspired me to get back on my skates! 💙🏁☮️
Yup. I've started skating a few years back as part of my job as a roller steward at a roller disco (basically checking the floor is clear, managing traffic, checking on people who fell over, teaching basic skills like standing up in skates etc.). I've always been the fat slow kid in PE/Gym class, but now I'm the fastest skater on the floor and 5 years on I still feel like I'm making up for all the years of being slow.
Skating is fun in general, but skating outside is something else. You get such a sense of freedom when you get from point A to B and not just skate in a circle. The roads in my village are less than ideal for skates, but it's still fun. I applaud her dedication and passion for the sport.
I'm 64 and skate 2-3 times a week and hope will be able to skate until the lady's age.
Many kisses from France
oh, you are my hero. "When i get old" :)
I say the same, and i'm 'just' 40 and people laugh when i say that, but i hear you :)
That white toe protector really makes Nexts more smiley. I'm glas that I've changed mine blacke to the white one.
That young lady in the video is amazing! Love each word that she's saying!
