    Hi John, interesting video as always.
    With reference to your fuel leak fault, the ecu in your van is detecting excessive fuel leak off not an external fuel leak, that’s the reason your getting a fuel rail pressure fault code also., this due to excessive high pressure fuel leak off, the high pressure fuel rail in turn can’t maintain the correct pressure to give sufficient power when your throttle input is upwards of 50%
    My advice if you want to take it, is make sure your fuel filter is replaced with a good quality filter ( Mann, Bosch or genuine) if that makes no difference, get an injector leak off test carried out on your injectors.
    Excessive injector leak off would give you the faults & performance symptoms your having.

      Smell your dipstick.... can you smell fuel? If you have a leaking injector you will have fuel in your oil and you should be able to smell it. It may also help to buy a new fuel cap. If it's leaking fumes to the air, you will have problems in your evap system. It's a cheap elimination.
      Finally, have the potentiometer checked on the throttle body... or at least spray it with contact cleaner. If it's faulty, the computer won't know what position your throttle is in when you need extra power.

    I had my Range Rover Sport remapped, did a quick test drive as you do, thought great. On my way home to Dorset (had it done in Wales) I realised my Cruise Control was no longer working. Contacted the fella who did the remap and he was absolutely certain it couldn't be the remap. Took it to a specialist, they did quick diags and said a couple of things didn't agree so Cruise was disabled. Full diags were going to cost hundreds. I bought a Kingbolen ediag mini, it interrogates all the modules and shows live values (about £60), all looks fine. On much deeper investigation it does look like the map file could be for the wrong vehicle. So next I had my motorhome remapped (2.0 boxer 130bhp to 180bhp) - huge difference and pulls like a train. Spoke to the fella who did that remap and he's going to back out the remap on the RR and put the old file back on, we'll soon find out what the issue is. Trouble is the guy who did the original remap just doesn't want to know - guess I'll have to be a little firmer in my next contact if it was his remap. Tread carefully mapping out the DPF - it might cause more issues.

    Hi John, I had a similar experience with Carly except that they did eventually respond to the zendesk help requests and they did sort my problem out. So I know they aren’t a scam they are just woefully inefficient. An important point to note is that they put you on automatic resubscription to the app, so you need to contact them to take you off of auto renew, otherwise you will be paying again for a service you will no longer want. Keep going mate, love the vids. 😊

      I bought a Carly on a promotion (£50 subscription and free scanner) for my Audi and from day 1 they started the "support App" The scanner didnt arrive for 2 weeks so I lost 2 weeks of my subscription. So I complained alot , left poor reviews on Trustpilot and eventually they offered compensation e.g. 10% off price 20 extension to subscription etc. I accepted the latter and it seems to work. Note I also have an OBDeleven which works OK but less friendly but also no subscription!, I will be comparing them as Audis seem to run with 3 to 4 minor faults continually ref Emergency Assistance connection faults. I referred this to the main dealer - but no result!

    Hi John.
    Similar probs with our self build on a Citroen relay.
    Euro 6 and basically trouble waiting to happen.
    Travelling through Spain, limp mode, paid a Spaniard 300 euro to change the dpf filter worked for 100 miles.
    We bought a reader and I removed the faults. As we got home we took it to a garage and they found it to be a adblue fault. It's sorted now, I've done 5k since with no issues. Adblue is a con . Anyway best of luck ..

    Hi John. A bit of a long shot perhaps, but I had a remap done at the Norfolk show a couple of years back and on my way back to Scotland, I had the EML come on when I accelerated onto the A1M at Newark. The van dropped into limp mode but reset once I’d brought the engine revs down. To cut a long story short, the Remap company said not the remap ,as it had been out for at least 5 years. They suggested looking at the turbo wastgate arm for tightness / seizure. It was indeed seized, so after carefully freeing off, normal service resumed😊.

    I had very similar symptons in a 2.0D jaguar X-type at about 110,000 miles which has a ford based engine, I took it to a diesel specialist who diagnosed 3 leaking injectors resulting in low fuel pressure in the common rail. This makes the ecu shut the engine down when fuel demand is higher than the lower pressure can support. A set of their own refurbed injectors sorted the problem and the car was trouble free up to when i sold it with 235,000 miles! Get your injectors checked, this low sulphur fuel is not good for them. I added 200ml of 2 stroke oil to every full tank of fuel after this work on their recomendation.

    Hello John, we have a Ford transit 2.2 litre euro 6 engine that was used across other manufacturers with similar problem to yours. If pulling away gently through the gears the engine was fine. However if acceleration was increased significantly in the RPM range 1700 t0 2000 the engine would falter and occasionally go into limp mode with the usual stop indications. With ignition off/on engine would restart fine and able to drive away. Although our vehicle only has 33k miles on it went straight to fuel system using the ForScan diagnostic software running on a laptop. This showed no errors in fuel pressure etc but to be on the safe side changed the fuel fileter and removed all 4 injectors having them tested at a Bosch service centre. They were all fine so then turned attention to ECU and sensors on DPF and SCR system. Again these all tested fine so in desperation took vehicle to Ford. They had it for a few hours and saw the fault but could not diagnose the issue in time given asking me to leave it with them for further work. I decided to take our vehicle back and try to sort myself using the same diagnostic kit that Ford used along with a year subscription to the Ford firmware support. After doing several trips whilst my wife held the laptop running real time diagnostics what I found was that in the RPM range between 1700 - 2000with acceleration applied the command for the ECU to EGR valve was say 5%, which would be about right because you dont want the EGR valve recirculating when engine under acceleration. However the EGR valve was snapping open to around 80% despite only having a command of 5% which resulted in the engine stumbling. Within a second or so the EGR valve would correct itself and drop back to around the command value. After some research and doing a few of the Ford on-line technician training courses on DFF and SCR systems it transpires that the RPM range of approx 1700-2000 is where the SCR is designed to operate (Euro 6 onwards) and the opening of the EGR valve is used to reduce exhaust temperature to lower NOX. Suspecting EGR valve might be faulty I changed it (it was a Pierburg) and fitted a Hella. Learn values were reset but after a few runs this was found to have only made a slight inprovement. So an original Pierburg EGR valve was fitted and after a re-learn the issue was resolved. Just another thought..........................

    Hi John, regarding your windscreen was the crack at the top? If so this could have been caused by the top tint! I've spent 20 years fitting window film and because the screen is laminated if you only film part of it you can get thermal cracking where as on side glass which is toughened it's not a problem.
    When you fit the new tint feel the temperature difference between the tinted part and lower down the screen, on a sunny day the difference is massive and the laminated glass isn't happy! Hope this makes sense?
    If you but a scree with the top tint factory fitted it's in-between the two layers of glass and not a problem, or use an external film and put it on the outside! But looks crap. One last thing do you still get sun in the UK??

The sensor for the obd2 would be on the HP side of the pump but if insufficient fuel was getting to the sensor, it would think you have a leak. A partial blockage would be particularly noticeable on hard acceleration like you described. It would also be the easiest to check/replace.

    I've had past problems with remapping... I find plug and play modules a much better option. I have two vehicles fitted with products from Racechip , a German company with a very good reputation. Don't have your DPF cut out and mapped out because you will have a world of problems, noise and smoke issues. Also MOT failure. Get the engine running as it should and you will have no problems.

      I have a Racechip too, on a 115bhp Ducato Multijet2 , which I bought in a flashsale during covid lockdown - cheaper than a remap and I liked the idea of easy removal if ever needing to return to stock. There are naysayers on the web that claim such "piggyback" chips don't work, but generally speaking I'm pretty happy with it. Obviously didn't come with a dyno session, so I can't verify the claimed extra 30% power & torque, but it subjectively feels more powerful and is definitely more flexible to drive with improved fuel economy too.

    The more bells and whistles we get on our vehicles the greater number of warning lights we get going off. I know heehaw about cars and when a flashing light comes on I panic! Then it turns out to be something stupid like the wishy washy needs fluid or a tyre pressure is low. 😅

    Fuel injector or throttle/pedal position sensor. Maybe start adding some WD40 to the injectors at the top in case you have to pull one out in few days, guessing you you keep water out of that area already from the scuttle and spray once and a while.

    My Relay 2.2 cuts out when slowing down from high speed, on a pressed clutch (essentially freewheeling while braking). I now only go down through the gears, and it doesn't happen.

    hi john, just a thought , i had the same warnings / diagnostic faults as you on the same van. turned out to be the swirl pot that the fuel pump sits in in the fuel tank allows the fuel in via a tiny trap door at the bottom. when my tank was full there was enough head of pressure to allow the fuel to enter, but as soon as the fuel level dropped the trap closed and swirl pot empties , so the pump wouldnt get enough fuel but the pump is still running thinking its got a mass fuel leek. hope its of some help

  • @allanbarnes6434

    Sounds like the non return valve on the comon rail feeding the injectors it will show low fuel pressure, its a spring and ball bearing if it gets contaminated with dirt fuel leaks bak and starves tge engine. When you turn of the egnition and restart the engine the pressure returns until you floor the throttle then the same again.

    My work van does this. Not quite to that extent but basically as you say putting a LOAD on the engine. So uphill low RPM which causes you to put ya foot down over 80% for couple seconds it then goes into limp mode for about 5 seconds then fixes itself.
    Has done it before took it garage has had injectors twice and a fuel rail or something but still does it just not as bad so I just live with it xD Just rev it up a bit or slowly accelerate.
    As for the remap had this issue with my motorcycle when I had a fault on it. None of the genuine kawasaki dealers wanted to give me their time, I even went back to the previous tuner and put the stock map on it and kawsaki still refused to look at the bike, 3 different dealers.... One said "oh we can't access the ECU bcus the tuner would have put a key code on it" which was utter BS as I asked the tuner and he said that is not true!!
    garages just don't want to fix stuff anymore they want easy service work which we can all do our bloody selves.
    new vehicles getting more and more complicated with no actual support. :( Hope you get it sorted.
    Just an idea to change the fuel filter if it's cheap enough and check fuel rail pressure. My mothers diesel had a really bad issue once and it was just some bad fuel, changed fuel filter was fixed.

  • @Me-lf5oj
    @Me-lf5oj Před 2 měsíci

    Change fuel filter because when it gets clogged it doesn’t deliver the right quantity of fuel in the time frame needed so the engine starves of fuel hence that’s why you get those errors and engine playing and don’t delete DPF because if it gets clogged you can get it cleaned professionally by chemical at high pressure or cut it and heat it at high temperature until it turns red hot which will burn all the blockage then blow it with high pressure air gun, it’ll be as good as new

  • @colinbourne8345
    @colinbourne8345 Před 2 měsíci

    Some Of them have a low pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank that gives the same fault codes if its failed... Do not do a DPF delete.. Dpf only block if you have an issue.. I.e fuel injector fault or something as simple as an ambient air sensor. Deleting the dpf is only masking the issue..

  • @clutchdroptv4345
    @clutchdroptv4345 Před 2 měsíci

    It might be worth getting the Injectors tested as thats normally what causes a rail pressure fault they could be returning to much fuel which ecu is thinking a leak or (leak off)
    Its better to be safe than sorry as a dodgy Injector can cause melted pistons so engine failure this is a thing with common rail diesels

    I had a sudden problem with my car. Started it in the driveway OK, switched off. One hour later went to start it and it would not idle. What can suddenly go wrong. So decided to buy a scanner and after a day researching, buying one like Carly which then connects to an app is that with errors from the reviews. So I bought an all in one and it found my problem. In fact I bought one from a German company who only make scanners.

    John, what brand of van do you have?

  • @c11yan
    @c11yan Před 2 měsíci

    Do an injector leak off test - this is most likely an injector fault. Had this exact issue on one of our vans. I’d replace all injectors even if it is just one. What you are describing is an imbalanced injector.
    Common fault from say 5 years old onwards.

  • @grootjnr

    Honestly think after watching this and your previous video. I think it sounds like it is the Re-map that caused this issue. Due to different driving now? or just an unrelated issue? or maybe not. Either way I would be asking whoever did the remap to redo it. May just be a glitch, especially as there is no physical problems. p.s. Hope Mandy is doing better.

    Sounds like a bad injector leaking back, I tried half a dozen different OBD scanner devices with the Boxer I had but ended up with a laptop and a Lexia interface and Diagbox setup as nothing else wanted to communicate with the ECU. The vans use "different protocols" to passenger cars apparently. Never did get to the bottom of the running issues with mine and sold it in the end and pulling out all of my remaining hair......

    • @GadgetJohn

      @@GadgetJohn I did wonder if that was the problem with mine (dodgy remapping) as it "allegedly" had 180BHP when I bought it and to be fair when it was running ok it went well. In the end I got rid as no garage would look at it, they are all "very busy" all of a sudden when you have got a sick common rail diesel.... It just used to randomly lose power at partial throttle openings which made it horrible to drive.

    Hiya I'm a mechanic and work on those vans regularly if it's coming up with feul leak it's got possibly 1 of 2 faults u have a bad injector or ur fuel system is braking up internally and can be confirmed by taking the lift pump out of the fuel tank look in the tank if there is gold looking particles in the bottom sadly means everything needs to be replaced that has fuel tuch it as u can try and clean things like the tank but if it's gets in the pump or injectors will kill them only way to fix safety it to replaced it all if it was to do with re map can u not take back to the people that did it
