Who’s video going viral ? Tyan ?? 😂
drives me mad when I'm selling something for say, a quid, and a bloke keeps coming back. trying to knock me down to 50p. Returns back over and over to re-examine the thing, and to try and haggle over 50p. If it had a 50p price tag on it, he'd no doubt keep coming back to try and get it for 20p. Bloody idiots. I got so pissed off with all this nonsense, I eventually ceased bothering with boot sales at all.
Yeah, that and the ones that steal stuff while their friend distracts you.
Sounds easier to just let them have it for 50p then problem solved! For the sake of 50p you gave up on boot sales! People are after bargains and will try in on. All part of the banter/fun. And some things are just not worth even £1 or they would sell! Maybe boot sales not for you.
@@andrewnorris5415 I did one with my mum one. She had a Tea set for £5. A woman kept offering 50p. She came back 3 times. My mum smashed it in front of her and threw it in the bin. She ha wound her up up that much.
Years ago I was at a vintage toy fair, my mate Jack in his 80’s but card sharp was selling some of his collection. A guy walks up, picks up a clockwork mouse & gives it a looking over while he’s talking on the phone, it had a little price sticker on the bottom £55 - he looked at Jack & mouthed ‘can you do anything on the price, Jack nodded, took it, dropped it into a brown bag, mouthed ‘£60 ok’ as he passed it back without a flinch with his palm outstretched. Guy still yapping held phone on shoulder with head while he got his cash out, dealwas done in a blink & he walked off still gassing. Looking at Jack “I don’t believe what I just saw!” his reply “He asked me if I could do anything with the price & I could, I put it up” . . . Valuable lesson learned.
@@Mark-Singleton I saw similar thing on the TV a day or so back. The prospective buyer was given a knocked-down offer by the seller. The customer immediately came back with another offer which was higher than the seller's offer ! - They obviously wasn't listening to what the seller was saying.
My family once had to sell at a car boot sale coz we had lost our house and had no money to raise a deposit for a rental property. I was 17 and seeing people fighting over a £1 reduction for my childhood keepsakes was utterly heartbreaking. I believe I sold a nearly complete Jurassic park play set (big dinos, visitor centre, fences, vehicles etc) for £30. I shudder to think what it would be worth now.

That's what this toss is doing, it's just catching catching for him but he doesn't even see who he's buying from. It's not even good money he just thinks it is. Spending precious time making smol money it's a joke tbh

Good on you for letting them go.😊
I grew up with my Grandparents. My Grandma was involved with the church (as most older people seemed to be in the 1980s) and I spent my weekends being dragged around church rummage sales and bazaars.
It opened my eyes to how petty, mean spirited and tight some folk can be.
I miss a good church sale , I grew up around them aswell.
Lovely, polite , genuine , English , working class people . I really enjoyed that video .
Thank you! 😃
the typewriter lid hinge is NOT broken. the lid is removable
Exactly......
I just came here to make the same comment!
Back in the day when me and the missus got together and decided we needed to thin out our stuff, we did a few carboots. We used to get there nice and early ( not first) and we'd get a spot, put up the table and then sit in the car without laying out any of our goods. It used to drive the other sellers nuts. They'd try the doors and knock on the windows. I used to just smile and wink at them tapping my watch. Then once the punters were circulating, we'd lay out the goodies. No Idea if we made anymore money, but it made me chuckle.
I have seen sellers driving on to a site being chased by possible buyers crowding round the vehicle.
Brilliant 😂
I once went to one of these came home with three car boots at a bargain price, no idea how the owners drove home afterwards.
Replica Western revolvers are legal because it's a pre-1914 design. It's only replicas of modern guns that are restricted
...and the restrictions are fekkin stupid: must fire through a hole in the top and be painted dayglow orange!
I have one that I bought before that law came in, it's an 8mm blank firing Walther PPK, works brilliantly, flame out the front, ejects from side.
I love how polite and genuine you are with sellers. Great to see.
Thanks daz 🙏🏻
I bought two operational shotguns and 200 cartridges, from a car boot near Bridlington. The guy was asking If I was interested in restored automatic weapons.
Do you go with your SGS in the car? Or are car boots more sketchy than I remember haha.
That gun wouldn't be illegal to own even if it was real and in working order, no licence required for that type of ammunition.
why do car boot sales start so early. your all mad, why not start at 11
Because we have other stuff to do on the weekend aswell 👍🏻
I used to do what you are doing about 25 years ago when Ebay was just taking off. It got me the capital to do what I did after. Keep at it mate you've definitely got on eye for it.
its certainly not my end goal :) thanks for the kind message.
Yup. That revolver is classed as a "Realistic Imitation Firearm" under the terms of the Violent Crime Reduction act. It is illegal for him to sell it to you (but not illegal for you to buy it or possess it. Just don't wander round the streets with one)
Finally someone who got the rules right 🙏🏻
@@FlippingSloth Airsoft player and firearms certificate holder. I have researched it thoroughly because one misstep and the plod will take my licences away. It's amazing how many people still fail to understand the rules, even in the Airsoft community where they are dealing with RIF's every day.

@@FlippingSloth mate. Ever read "Primal Branding" by Patrick Hanlon?
One of the vital features of any branding is the heretics. The anti's. The critics. It just shows you're making an impact. Don't let them get you down.
Just proves the law is an ass! Not illegal to own it not illegal to buy it! But it’s illegal to sell it! How the hell can you buy one legally if it’s illegal to sell it!
Best bargain I ever got at a boot sale was a Sony Minidisc player for the princely sum of £2. That was back in 2008 and I still have it and it still works.
Very good nick
I've got a MD player and about 100 md's, including some retail ones, that I picked up for about a fiver at a charity shop a few years back. Are they worth much these days? I know they're quite popular with audiophiles because of the recording quality
This is fascinating. My "thing" at car boot sales is old manual camera lenses, I have a massive interest in them and have quite a lot, which I use on my modern digital cameras via adapters.
I remember my first "grail" lens purchase, a 50mm F1.4 Takumar on a Pentax Spotmatic for £30. When we sealed the deal, I asked the seller if he would stash it while I went to the cash machine, which he kindly did. I've taken quite a few pics with that lens.
Loved to go to car boot sales during weekends when I was in the UK. Great memories. Stuff was much cheaper then. I remember buying whole bags of Lego and books for the kids for just a pound or two.
That’s how i remember or too
If you're talking about the replica pistol. Face to face sales between adults is fine. This applies to low powered air guns as well as replicas. However ebay ban all listings of guns, even cap guns. Even so, selling them online using sites such as Gunstar or Guntrader is perfectly acceptable. Posting is also allowed, but Royal Mail tracked only, no independent carriers will touch them.
Air guns not legal in Scotland anymore, without firearms certificate. Even your sub 6ft-lb daisy or Webley tempest.
@@ernestchadwell9069only in scotland. In england and wales you only need to be 18 to buy a 6ft lb air pistol or 12 ftlb rifle unlicenced. And you can own both younger than 18 as long as someone over 18 purchased it for you.
@MDM Not anymore- have to be 18 to own.
totally incorrect. It is a Realistic Imitation Firearm (RIF) and therefore comes under the Violent Crime Reduction Act meaning it is illegal to sell to anyone who cannot produce evidence that they are a member of a recognised reenactors group (or they hold a full blown firearms certificate)
Have you looked at the sites I mentioned, especially the Umarex Legends range? You couldn't tell the difference between them and the real pistols. Sold perfectly legally. I recently purchased a gas powered P08 Luger.
What used to really piss me off was when i was looking through a box of records and someone leans over the top and starts looking as well and then get upset when you tell them to wait their turn. I recall someone doing that and the guy got up and punched him. Also the people who want to knock !0 pence off the price and get irate when you refuse. Boot Fairs i loved them!
Haha who did you think you are to tell someone else to stop looking ? 😂 you would have deserved a punch
Hold in a fart next time you look through records, then let rip when a cheeky bugger looks over your shoulder
Seriously it gets you mad just because someone is looking while you flip through, I could understand if they was touching you but just looking come on.

That’s really good 👍🏻 was you happy with that amount for what you sold?
I picked up a couple of old tatty pictures at a boot sale about 30 years ago for a tenner & reframed them after they were professionally cleaned that were then sold at auction for a total of £8,500. I wish I'd had luck like that everyday I went booting.
That’s a good investment then 👍🏻 welldone
@@FlippingSloth I did cheat a bit because I'd sent some time working as a technician in a museum & during everyday chats with other staff the amount of knowledge you build up in a place like that about all kinds of things is amazing & art is one of my favourite subjects. I bought an original Punch drawing framed for .50p at auction. Sold it for 2 grand.
I used to do regular car boots, one in the morning, then move on to an afternoon one.
What 'killed' the idea was thieving and scammers working in teams, and eventually rising entry fees.
I could spot a scam (it usually involved a third party, it was the thieving and rising entry fees that finally did it for me.
I would end up with only a little more than I started with, to show for a whole day off from my regular working week.
You should get back into it. Sadly thieves and scammers exist in every aspect of life and you shouldn’t be put off by them. Go make your money 👍🏻
I used to sell off my family’s unwanted junk at boot sales, but I gave up after the last one I did because of the amount of theft off the stall and the attempts to steal my cash. It was so unpleasant.
My biggest regret was seeing some sword sticks (disguised canes) at a bootie and not buying one.
They are an illegal carry obviously, but I'm a amateur hoplologist collecter, it'd be nice around the house as an' interesting piece'
