  • Just a short video I made to show the software required to programme the KSUN KSM3 two way radios. This software is hard to find and doesn't currently appear on the KSUN website so I've provided a link for anyone who needs this below:
    reviews.transmission1.net/wp-...
My particular radios needed a password in order to program them with the software. If yours asks for a password you can try: 753951.
It will probably also work with the M1 and M2 variants of this radio but haven't confirmed this. If anyone knows of any better or alternative software that can programme these radios then please leave a comment below!
    Hope this helps someone!

Hello, Thank you for your video. Have you found any other software for this radio?

  • @daycefloaizavelasquez8704

Dear friend. TX power say Low. Did you made any changes here or "low" is default setting ( factory setting)? Best regards.

Hello, great review. I'm thinking of buying these radios for camping in the United States. Will I need to reprogram these? Can I use these right out of the box?

Hey, sorry for the late reply! The radio was the Baofeng VF-V8. I've just published the video review and I think you're actually on the radio test ;) czcams.com/video/T8JhH8q8OmM/video.html

Sorry I don't have any more passwords. I messaged the seller on Aliexpress and they sent me the other passwords but unfortunately after a year the messages are automatically removed from the messaging system so I no longer have the details :( Maybe try contacting KSUN through Aliexpress. Where did you buy your M2 from?

@@Transmission1 thank you for your reply, I indeed contacted the seller (also from Aliexpress) and got my password: BF666S. I went through a long search for the right software where I had to figure out all the small issues you describe in your video, eventually getting stuck at the password step... Not sure each seller has a different password though.

@@fabiosbrizzai9354 I am pleased you got this sorted out. I am not sure why they persist in setting odd passwords on the programming software unless it is to set restrictions for frequency range in certain circumstances? Great little radios though.

@@Transmission1 I honestly don't know, could be to keep re-selling under some control? However the sellers seem rather open to share the passwords, I got an immediate reply after asking.
My main concern was actually that this radio came pre-programmed to frequencies within the 70cm ham band without any indication whatsoever. I had to figure out both the frequency and subtone of each of the 16 channels myself, using my other radio (VHF-UHF dual bander). I could just use it that way as I am a licensed amateur but if you have no way to figure out these parameters the radio is pretty much useless. And provided you can, you are not allowed to use it without a license (at least in Europe).
After I reprogrammed it, it now works on the PMR band and is therefore license free (that's the way it should come, IMHO) and compatible with my other PMRs, so wife and kids can also use it.
Besides that, it is indeed a great little radio, modulation is crystal clear and range is reasonable, given the size and the antenna. If you need to be reachable (within some hundred meters), just put one in your pocket and you will forget about it until someone calls you...

It's more like 3 watts output but difficult to test as there is no removable antenna.
