Watched countless tutorials about scratching over the years. I still suck, by and large. But you're including stuff in your tutorials that NO ONE TALKS ABOUT. Not Emma Short-E (Studio Scratches), not DJ Angelo, not any of the greats. Everyone teaches the chirp as 4 moves. 2 moves is the way to go. And, no one ever mentions you need to be at the top of the sample, to get the most out of it. Many, MANY more of these tutorials, please, sir. I think my chirp scratch improved 10 minutes after I watched this video. Thanks!
he did. The curve thing was important. Mine always on half and i didn't know why the was no tight
This is super true. I was watching the Short-E videos as well, and couldn't understand why I wasn't learning anything and why I couldn't make it sound like what she was doing, using the same sample., no matter how many times I did it.
I’m a beginner Dj. You’re a good teacher.
No doubt. I've been looking for something like this
Haha
I totally agree..
Can you make a video about how to handle the cross fader. That’s what I’m having trouble with more than the jog wheel
As others mentioned, this is the first tutorial video I've watched where I felt like I was actually grasping the concepts. I was under the mistaken impression that the other teachers were scratching across the entire sample, and that my controller rotation ratio must be off, because I was only getting some of it. Watching you, mine looks perfectly normal, once you explain that you scratch the BEGINNING of the sample, which the other folks' tutorials fail to do. Plus it's so much easier, being able to watch your waveform at the top as well, for reference when trying to reproduce your techniques. Thank you so much. Also, I don't think you really need all that COPPA stuff, lol. Just marking it in your uploads as not for kids is sufficient.
Very good tutorial🙏🏼 very in depth and patient unlike many other djs that try to do a class and undermine the essentials , that are much needed for someone who doesn’t fully have the the same familiarity and understanding of how to this part of the craft works . Great points big up bruv 🔥💯
I remember the baby scratch, it comes from Grandwizzard Theodore such a really smooth cut that rubbing the record back and forth it also has a smooth sound that other scratches out there.
Yo a very good teacher. I have learnt alot from this. Very many DJs dont know how to explain but respect and blessings to u. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this bro. You’re a life savior.
Absolutely brilliant. You don’t know what you don’t know! Thank you so much for this video.
Love how u teach with every details
U are the best without u I would have able to scratch, I have been struggling for over a year to understand it, bt u did it for me thanks a lot I. Will ever remain to remember ur tutorial. Thanks a lot I appreciate you
I just had a big breakthrough on the baby scratch exercises. I was confused because mine don't sound like his, especially from inside the sample. The way his kinda go HIGH PITCH low pitch, and have a sense of finality to them when he finishes the pattern. I thought maybe his ahh sample was different somehow, then I realized he gets the different sound by how fast he pulls the scratch. Sure it may seem obvious when you think about it, but I think it bears mentioning.
A slower scratch will sound lower pitched, and a faster scratch will sound higher pitched, which allows you to put that last bit of polish on the pattern and gives you that extra color in your palette.
The chirp scratch is like the baby scratch but DJ Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money was innovators of the transformer scratch too which is the hardest scratch technique that is known for scratching. It takes proper rotation of the platter and crossfader at the same time.
Great vid , I think at the end of every scratch lesson you should have showed us how you encorporate the said scratch with other moves on an advanced level so we can see what we is possibly for us learners to achieve , to almost like motivate and inspire us more
Anyway keep up the good work
Thank you so much for showing this on this particular controller
Goddd i almost quit practicing and saw this video now i got the confidence thanks bro 🤜
Great tutorial, I can't wait to practise these techniques, thankyou.
Thanks you so much for this tutorial. You have explained it much better than any other person who have posted tutorial video. I will share this video with everybody i know who want to learn
Super helpful, THANK YOU!
Super helpful, thanks!!
You're a boss 🙌
Great video!!
Thank you for this video. Any chance you can break down the patterns you use to scratch. I really like them but I can’t seem to get mine to sound like yours.

Brilliantly explained.
Very good explained : )
Salamat Crazy Techniques bro!💥❤💥
The baby scratch, chirp, and transformer I can make sound ok with the QA, but you do the forward scratch so fast. I can't figure out how to do it that fast. I can get to half time but the quarter hits are rough. I think it's just a coordination issue on my part. Great videos. I'm learning a lot from you!
Great video. I must to use the same sound you are playing or I coud you use a beat of the following song? Thanks
Great explanation 👌.
Yes very good ! Thanks
2:10 baby scratch
6:43 ch
10:33 forward
13:25 transformer
15:03 z
Can you share the drum loop please. Thank you for your tutorials!
Massive bro 😎😎😎
Amazing
Thank You
Butterfly motion. Great tip.
Perfect I’m still learning 🎤
Nice video bro
Do I have to use a sample while DJ’ing to scratch? Or can I have a song loaded to my deck
wow. Thank you bro
You're welcome!
Great tutorial for left handed people like me
THANKS
Thank you sirrrr. I have been waiting for a video like this for forever.
Most welcome!
Good job, keep it up💯⭐👍
That is my basic stuff i know , oh the crab and drag. i will forward this. i got people that ask me to teach but i don't have time .
donde encuentro el track del beats?
Yes Teacher 🤘🤘
Any idea why when I attempt a forward scratch And release the platter, it just resumed playing like normal no “forward scratch” sound... Roland DJ-202 Serato DJ pro.
Thats the slip button turn it off
Oh man, thats so hard to do that, uts look simple, but damn man, i need alot of practice, i only learn the baby scratch and my back hurt lol
I noticed your scratch sample syncs with the beat after your scratching. Do i need to change my settings ?
that's only because the scratch sample track is set at 100bpm because I edited it at 100bpm when I created it.
Man that transformer scratch is like reprogramming your brain. This is worst than rubbing your stomach and tapping your head at the same time. my head hurts lol
It's not too far off from using a video game controller.
How do you move your hand so fast? I can't seem to make my hand/arm move fast enough to scratch
That's why you have to be over 13 to watch the video. You really start to develop your hand speed around that age.
When i scratch and practice, my scratching hand moves on the jogwheel. What can i do ? So after a few scratches, my hand is not on the same position as i started.
Practice some more until you build muscle memory. Good luck!
My controller sometimes feel laggy. Im planning to move to turntable
@@krutoyinfo probably PC....I learned that the hardway and had to upgrade to an 8-Core i5 w/ 16GB of RAM, no more lagging.
Forward scratch is just putting the platter forward so it can go back and forth with the crossfader. It has that back and forth motion to the scratch, it also as smooth as the baby scratch is. To get a smoother cut you have to move the platter with the crossfader.
Do you need specific controllers for scratching, because I can't get a sharp sound, and efficient placement with ddj-sr. And also notic that there really ain't much videos using the ddj-sr. Please help, because I'm hesitant to sell ddj-sr and replace.
As long as it has a jog wheel.
@@priyonjoni much appreciated and your tutorials are very well specifically informed
I subbed bro..teach me to scratch please..im ready to learn..

This goes _way_ too fast for me to comprehend what he's doing, much less follow along, so I'm time stamping the patterns so I can jump back:
*Baby Scratch:*
Pattern 1: 2:09
Pattern 2: 2:23
Pattern 3: 2:33
Pattern 4: 2:42
Pattern 5: 2:52
Pattern 6: 3:02
ong im mad slow
I made your likes to 2k lol
Am I the only one who's arm feels too stiff to scratch fast?
Happens to everyone. Regular practice improves it just like working out.
way too fast for beginners
