You had a "drill" video that basically tripled my skill in one night, somehow I was able to replicate the sounds you were making by thinking more about matching your sound than the mechanics of my fingers. I'd love to see a section of these videos that is more of a drill for each section and combine each section over time!
I have been a DJ for over 40 years, both on Radio and Live Events and I have never scratched. After watching your tutorial, I feel comfortable trying it. Thank you.
Seriously bro I can’t thank you enough for helping me to learn something I’ve wanted to do since I was like 8. I’ve had my 1000srt for almost a year. I practice at least 3 hours a day, and when I dj at the strip club I’ll play them their music one one channel while practice on the other channels with my headphones. Much respect man, this is seriously the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to get good at.
I’ve been a DJ for about 5 years now, 100s of hours practicing baby, stabs, chirps, beat juggling, crab scratch, 😮orbits, and 1 click and 2 click flares. I wish I started with this scratch. This is literally the only scratch you need to know, unless you are going to be a battle DJ. I am today years old when I found this.
Thank you so much for making this video. I've always thought this was a move that I just wasn't fast enough to accomplish... been wanting to learn it forever. Much appreciated, liked and subscribed.
One of the most useful scratching tutorials on YT because you end up with a cool-sounding combo rather than just endless re-hashes of a single scratch.
Nice break down, easily the most valuable transition pattern for any scratch arsenal. Even at slower tempos like (Trap beats ect 70-75bpm) at a double timed speed it sounds really dope. Great details & instructional video this is very easy to follow and practice along with. Thanks for sharing this.
@pri yon joni sir, Thank you for all the help and videos over these pass few months I have learned alot and will be a life time follower of yours. you tutorials are complete and easy to follow keep up the outstanding job sir.
Omg! At last someone breaks down and explains this scratch....been trying to do this for over 20 years! I can not thank you enough....I know my scratches as I've been into hip-hop since the begining of the 80's it's just some I've never been able to work out... Seriously you have no idea how much this has helped me....
@@priyonjoni It was an enormous help....no one has properly broken or down and also said the scratch names of what they are doing... Seriously, I can't thank you enough
bro, the way you explained this, I can understand. Im a 50 year old dj. I started djing in 1988-89 when i was 17 years old. I have always wanted to learn some scratches. Thank you
KDAY Mixmasters in 1984, Joe Cooley scratch, a lot of guys were doing it at that same time. I first heard it with Mixmaster Tony G and Jammin Gemini, both of them also KDAY Mixmasters. It's basically a Chirp, Scribble, Tear, combo, but lots of variations of this scratch.

I think I'm close to getting this combo down! Can you do a video of how we can use this combo when going into another song? It would be great to learn different ways to apply this during a gig.
FUCK YES. I've been working on the Joe Cooley for a week and couldn't get it until watching this video and I got it first try. Bringing the pain now bro.
You can do this with any combo or skratch. The delayed 2 click flare but stop or pause on the transform part on the pull back. Starting closed ending closed. Just the 2 click glare has 6 starting position. 2 open 4 closed fader. Soooooo much to learn!!
Probaby the most comprehensive scratch tutorials I've seen! I'm looking at getting a used DDJ-SX3 as I want to use Serato Pro. Do you have any experience with this unit (DDJ-SX3)??
You be a life saver. If u could do a short vid on how to use the FLX6. Mergefx. And beat fxs have moved to a bar. I’m lost. After having an. Sb2. Sb3. Thanks. Keep up good work. I do love the flx. But I’m kinda lost.
This scratch/pattern sounds so cool. I have been trying to master for months. My scribble is too slow and ruins it :( . Thanks Pri for all the instruction. I appreciate it.
Wow this video is awesome.... 👍👍👍 Thanks for sharing sir... And im planning to buy that toy... But, I don't have an idea if how much is that.... Thank you sir and godbless to you
You have explained this technique the best I have ever seen. How long do you think one needs to spend doing this in order to be at least half decent lol.
A year ago I went to the conservatory of music in Wisconsin for my dj SKULL my name methods brought me here 👍💯 I be weathering with Dj CREAM CRUSH she 12 & dj ANTELOPE he 13 is like a 9 hour session there Thanks
Brother. Greet tutorials as always and mad skill set ! 2 questions. 1. Do you notice a very slight pause when you scratch and release on the FLX6? 2. Do you know of (or have) those UGD macbook cases? 13"?
Thanks for all the amazing videos. They are really informative. I'm just starting to learn how to scratch. I use a traktor s4 and turntables. At what point would you recommend getting a battle mixer?. Would you advise to upgrade the fader to an inofader as a beginner?. An i only going to see the benefit of these if I'm more of an advanced turntableist?.
It depends what you do. My general advice to folks is; don’t look at gear as a way to upgrade your skills. Because it doesn’t. Look at DJ gear the same way as DJs look at musical instruments. See which ones bond with you. If I were you, try a friend’s battle mixer before getting one. The awesome thing about Traktor is you can pretty much use any battle mixer now with DVS since Traktor 3’s launch.

Bro I’m right there with u old head dj the only few times I’ve scratched in sets I ruined it luckily I know sum 911 technics to save my sets.
40 years and have never scratched? how is that possible
How's your scratching coming along DJ .. Peace
Really!!! I’m new to DJ about a year and enjoy it but I want to learn scratching but I’m fearful so I’m watching videos.
To scratch music is not easy it need effort

These vids are awesome for someone who’s trying to begin scratching
A style vs. A pattern is a super useful way to look at it- this has renewed my determination to get this down!
This dope! Been having trouble with making things flow and sound good. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! This is the most I've learned from a scratch video. I have a question tho. How do I get those scratch effects?
You can do this with any combo or skratch. The delayed 2 click flare but stop or pause on the transform part on the pull back. Starting closed ending closed. Just the 2 click glare has 6 starting position. 2 open 4 closed fader. Soooooo much to learn!!

My timing was all over the place
