Hats off to the engineers responsible for the brakes, for achieving such a high level of stopping power with a simple floating caliper brake system.
Those upgraded Endless pads probably have to do a lot with that 😉
@@remspoor5127I’d say 90% of that :))
It’s not depends on the type of the calipers.
It’s the pads!
I owned one off this, car and the breaks very impressive with standard pads and disc .
Mk7 and 7.5 are such a hit. Looks, performance and tech are great and it is aging very well!
every day i regret selling mine, as there is nothing new that i would like after owning a mk7...
I have a Mk7 but I'd kill for a nice Mk7.5, Manual, Low mileage in a custom color. In fact, I wouldn't mind buying quite a few of them. I've owned this 7 R for... 7 years now. No mechanical issues. And I've tuned it and hammered it its entire life. Amazing Car.
had the 5 GTI & drove my friend's 6 & 7 also rented the 7.5 by far i find the Mk 7.5 is the best overall! it's like VW did their best on it probably the best Golf if i may say.
@@lostinbravadoexactly like mine
7.5 no performance pack, manual, gun metal grey
@@nicorossi9474 Keep it and make sure it's low mileage. I'm confident the 7.5s especially will be collector cars.
People like me will snap up all the good ones and create the market which drive the 7.5 into it's future collectors status.
Watching this content makes me proud and satisfied to have a fully prepped 350bhp Mk7 GTI as a daily/weekend/track car.
Hauls both my kiddos and their stuff. Gets 22mpg combined. Runs 12.80s at 113mph in the 1/4 on street tires and runs near the front of the pack in Intermediate group in HPDEs at my local track events. 🥰
Thank you Misha + this TCR owner. 🍻
I’ve recently bought a manual mk7.5 gti performance and after having all sorts of hot hatches from a Renault Megane trophy mk3, a Ford focus rs mk2, bmw m140i and Ford fiesta st mk7 (among others), the golf is up there with the fiesta and Megane in terms of handling but also feels very quick (it made 265bhp on the dyno when it’s quoted as 245bhp).
When I went to test drive the golf I never thought I’d enjoy it as much as I am currently so hats off to vw engineers and everyone else involved
I have a fiesta st mk7 and been thinking of an m140i for a while now. How did you find the m140i?
anything you'd change about it?
and this golf would still smash it around the track 😂 not everything is about big hp numbers.
@@rd6781lsd is needed on them there scatty cars open diff
@@Ricky26ukif you build the m140i properly with engine, suspension and brakes, it will be a way faster track weapon compared to a fwd golf
I love my TCR. Have it now for almost 2 years , has seen plenty of NoS laps and runs great without ans failure for the 55.000km I drove it (hard) for. It gets underestimated by a lot of bigger cars which then think to Themselfs: wait a Minute?! A Golf that fast ?! It's hell of fun and I plan on keeping it for a long time ;)
and how many km did you drive it flaccid?
same here. 55k km now. drives like at its first day and a good allrounder, even with this like a little to high fuel consumption
same here with 79k km no problems yet. :) i love this car so much
Yup, also love my little rocket!! : )
382 HP / 518 NM
M4 has no Chance 😏
I have a Mk7.5 R but if we had the GTI TCR here in the US, it would've been a difficult decision. Love the design of those seats.
check mk7 clubsport seats :D
US did miss out on a lot of models unfortunately. They did get the manual for longer though and the 2 door varieties so there is that 😊
That being said the dsg in these is pretty amazing.
Yeah being a VW fan from the US is tough sometimes haha. We don't get the TCR or the Clubsport. We don't even get the Polo which I'm sure is super fun to drive too. I'd still probably take the R over the GTI just because it's nice to have extra power and AWD especially for daily driving.
@@NJRacer623 R is fast there no way a gti could beat him but gti more like fun compared to R except gti 7 cs its praticaly same as R in 100-200 except 0-100km R always first
One of a very few cars you have driven on this channel so far that has me sitting here thinking I WANT ONE!!
that looked so much fun .. you are an amazing driver and have an amazing personality .. great video
Are the SF90 and V10 M3 on the list?:)
@@coolguy_2997 Nope :) not in to BMW or ferrari
Wow that gearing is short, I bet it's fun to drive! Nice lap as always
Bought my TCR in 2019, after 40'000 km I am very very happy with it.
Why doesnt this tcr have vented brakes tho, arent they standard
@@Pikachu-om4pcYou're right, mine came stock with perforated discs. I think the owner not only changed brake pads but discs as well
@@Pikachu-om4pcperforated brakes is performance pack
@@useryt8716 i got perforated brakes, but no dcc (which is part of performance package).
I have a mk7 gti as my daily but these tcr always appealed to me over the R. Nice car and very capable. Like a gti it can do everything
Love my MK7.5 GTI Performance, out of the box an impressive bit of kit, and with basic mods it punches well above its weight! Wish we got these TCRs in the states!
What’s the difference with a GTI v performance?
@@Thomashemmings1 Bigger brakes from Golf R/Audi S3, VAQ limited slip differential (this is key) and in some markets they got a little more power
Love the Mk7 GTI, the PP really is good out of the box, with a stage 1 and some simple brake upgrades to do have a good track car.
Love this car, out of the box..... almost perfect
And in grey they look so damn good from factory
Great lap. Interesting to see the standard GTI discs. The TCR came with drilled discs from the Clubsport S. I’m curious as to why they’ve been changed.
I believe this was a great car to showcase Misha's skills and knowledge around the track. A GTI isn't a slow car, but compared to faster cars like the M3, it's not as fast either. It's in this gap where Misha's skills demonstrate that a good car is just one half of the equation; the other half is the driver's ability to maximize its potential.
Okay, that looked a ton of fun to drive. I love a good hot hatch, and that looked so good. I'm a little jealous this time.
Love my TCR , just the best all rounder and I drive it daily .
😮😮damn that’s how you drive this car, and for a car to give misha that much confidence says a lot!
The best GTI ever made 😍🔥
Uhm excuse me? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mk7 cs for the win
I will pretend i didn't read this
how does it compare to the clubsport? besides engine? not familiar with TCR model.
@@visker81 its supposed to be the facelift clubsport, treat it like that or just a gti with an R engine and some very minor tweaks. TCR never came in manual opposed to mk7 cs and css.
I have a beetle turbo, same TSI engine and DSG transmission as the gti, with cold air intake, downpipe, and Unitronic Stage 2+ ECU and TCU, roughly around 300hp…so much fun
I love my 7.5 R performance the best car i ever had . 400hp with akra exhaust
Another great video on a golf they so quick. Very impressed
Goes very well. Makes me look forward to my S1 with KWv3 & Garrett Powermax 👌🏼
That car is flipping gorgeous.
Great video ! thank you
I had a Mk7 Performance, it was a great daily car, powerful, comfortable, but it was boring as hell. I switched to a Megane 3 RS and never looked back.
Immediately after the first sequence of curves, you can tell how good this car is at rotating and braking. I wish they sold them here in the States!
Mooi om te zien dat een standaard auto ook voor veel plezier zorgt op de Nordschleife.
lets gooo the goat posted again
Can’t wait to see a video on the Corolla GR!
We're all excited about the jump :D And there is a 3 door mk7 gti :((
Always porches on this track and they really do scream even compared to real performance cars he's driving. But my love for the golf 7.5 is outta this world such a great little beast and they EA888 has so much performance on tap with bolt ons and a software upgrade and even unlock without any mods.
I Drive a gti Performance with DSG. tuned by APR Stage 1+ probably 320hp with 480nm. DSG Upgrade with some Hardware. 100-200 in 12,6s (Stock 16,4s)
Great video. My son has been speaking with you - I’ll bring my stage 3 TCR out for you soon 🙌🏼
Cool, Stage 3 ?!? 😍
Mine has 382 HP / 518 NM
480ps/480ftlb 🎉
@@olih. Holy shit 😳😍
A 3 door Edition 40 Clubsport is the ultimate Gti at its best
I'm always sad when I see a TCR, I want it one so much last year, but in Italy over 250hp cars have so many taxes...so I take a 245hp perf. w/Tcr's Akra + Tcr's diffuser.
Got one Brand new in Australia very late 2020 love it,
Hope everyone did have a wonderful day !
U need a 3 part series golf focus and subie, the gti st and fa or 2.0ej or new 2.4 subie motor, then series 2 golf r focus rs and sti, I got a rs and saw the vid of u and the guy in the plad, you were riiiiipiiiing
In my opinion the mk7 clubsport is the best gti ever made.
Especially with the specific Clubsport seats.
Bro had a lot of Faith, Faith, Faith in you there.
finally a non straight piped vw
I sold my RS6 for pure grey TCR and never looked back. Superb cars.
lol. are u fr? Makes me proud to have one pure grey too :D
Would like to see how it compares to a stock mk7 CS… If it gives the 290 most of the time or not. I think I’ve seen a tuned CS but not a stock one
I preffered the R myself but these are solid
Only for the awd fun, because this TCR is faster arround a track
Same. I thought the TCR would be faster round the track, but I was surprised
@@clivewarner6571 yes, 9 seconds faster around nordschleife
@@clivewarner6571 Extra weight from AWD system probably doesn't help, would be interesting to see wet laps compared
@@melegattie4116 if you know how to drive, but the most drives will never reach the limit of their cars.
Best hatch typer (my opinion)
I pick up mine next week 😊
Me and my Dad are coming to the ring next year, we are bringing his Clubsport S with a bunch of mods (Ohlins, AP BBK, 400hp, anti-roll mods, blah blah blah) would you be down to drive it? I think it'd be one of the best hatches you've driven 😉
They look like brothers 😅
Accurate! 😆
(I can’t unsee it now)
Do these not come with the clubsport front floating discs as standard? It looks like this could be on standard discs making this even more impressive
Was about to buy one of these - very enjoyable car!
Nice lap 🚀👍🏽
And the best shirt evha!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best hothatch is my Rs3 8Y, handling, 5 inline, sound and more
Mk7 gti and mk7 golf r are the pinnacle 👌
I swear I was thinking yesterday about some video reviewing the TCR behaviour.
Thanks 🙏
i thought about selling mine, but now its pretty clear.... i will try to keep it as long as i can. Nice lap
The question is always, what would you sell it for? Or you dont need a car?
I was always told that the GTI stood for Guaranteed Theft Item guess my dad was right like 20 years ago lol
@mgcharoudin did you had the chance to compare to a R of the same generation ? If yes, apart from the obvious, is it that much different in terme of handling and chassis ?
GTI is FWD,R has haldex awd
@@your-mom_was_herethat's 'the obvious' that they mentioned
AWD on the Golf R adds a couple hundred pounds (100kg). I prefer the GTI's weight.
@@andrewyoung220 but it also adds bit of power and it's faster then GTI.
The GTi lighter but the Haldex surely better when you start adding more power…
What are the pro's of GTI? I feel like its a mweee R version but probably missing something :X
7.5 GTI is a beast, unless they improve things for the 8.5 it will remain the best.
That tcr for sure will be destroyed by a mk8 Clubsport 😅
Not saying it's not, but a Mk8 Clubsport is already faster than the 7.5 TCR (tested by Sport Auto around the Nordschleife). Not by much (2 seconds iirc), but faster is faster.
@@m4ini I mean its normal that the newer models Are build to be better and faster… why else would they build cars like that to be worse than a previous model… I mean I like the tcr a lot i had the choise. Between a mk8 gti and a tcr but I bought a mk8 gti… put some mods and a tune and it got like 350hp ish… but anyways both fantastic cars but i can’t believe vw is producing a new car with al Those test and laps to be worse than a previous gen🤣 I JuSt Don’t like al Those hate for the mk8 😕 if they drive it once they all be suprised for sure (happened with me aswell)
@@ZachVdv04I don't like the direction and brake feeling so I bought a 7.5.
The 8 is not a "drivers" car anymore but more a sort of good computer (with bad design) on 4 wheels.
@@lollypop9580 maybe You Can’t drive with it 🤣
Maybe one day I will show up with a track monster in the nurburgring and have a good time

Sorry for a wierd question but does anyone know what kind of glasses is the Golf's owner wearing?
Wish the U.S gotten the TCR & Clubsport MK7
Great job
Keep it up
Great lap. It seems like it only used very little gas on that lap. I wonder how many laps it can go on the Nordschleife with one fuel tank....🤔
It's the most efficient motor in the category. ❤

i have a pure grey its a great car
LOL. I live in France and I got the exact same problem on my Golf. They stole the entire front end while I was 10 days in vacation. I took the car and I saw a broken light bulb indicator. I got to the pressure washing station and I started on the back of the car...when I got in the front I saw it was missing completely. WTF
Guy is looking like he could be your brother lol
great video as usual🫡
Couldn't see it in the video but in the thumbnail it doesn't look like the Akrapovic exhaust. Which, IMO, is standard on the 7.5 TCR. I can't remembering ordering it as an extra and my 7.5 TCR has the Akrapovic.
The 2019 TCR has the stainless exhaust Standard. Then it comes with akra
@@gtiak274Thanks for clearing that up!
Could you drive the 308 sgti, please??? Thanks!!!!
A good DSG golf is fun
no-one? ok, Ill do it: 290bhp Golf is still faster than 1000hp GTR))
if currently in the market for a MK7.5 GTI. absolutely love the car and actually prefer the GTI due to being lighter and more playful without the AWD. I so wish we had the TCR in America. I'm planning on getting the autobahn edition, any 7.5 GTI owners here would recommend a different variant and why. thank you
I deliberately bought the base 4dr Mk7.5 GTI with DSG as it was lighter without the sunroof and has the plaid cloth seats. In Canada, we got the PP stuff with the base like LSD, larger brakes, etc. So, it's perfect. If you like sunroofs though, the Autobahn is a good option.
1:35 that reminds me of a porshe. Best cars come with biggest downsides :/
Awd or fwd?
Btw, is it me or around 7:00-8:00 the car is down on power???
tcr is identical to cupra 290 (2019+), the only difference is that tcr has a little more aggressive differential setup
if it was indentical everyone would want a cupra not a gti ;)
@@donroxitheoverthinker well, I'm sure you want to back your claims so if you don't mind please explain what are the differences apart from the body and the interior.
Sorry no
TCR from 09/19 have Akrapovic Exhaust, Aluminium Subframe, Clubsport S Floating Brakediscs and better Brakepads.
@@mcbaczi exhaust doesn't really make a difference because OPF is the bottleneck here, you're right about the brakes, but the cupra has an optional extra where you can get 4 pot brembos from the 8J ttrs. Didn't knew about the subframe tho, every day I learn something new, thank you!
@mcbaczi Subframe, catback, discs and pads is the only difference?
That's really not a lot at all!
For me, the TCR is the best version of the GTI.
I'd love one, I'll have to wait 15 years when they are about £1000 though 😂
😂😂😂😂
unpossible.....
Great stock car ❤ .
I had the tcr and now I am driving a Mustang GT, but I miss the Performance of the tcr... does anyone know if the Golf 7.5 R is handling better than the tcr? I want to buy it again but I dont know maybe the R is better?
The R is more capable, but at the same time more boring aswell
I've driven a manual Golf R mk7 and I hated it, the gearbox and clutch felt horrible!
I need to get in an automatic version and see how they feel.
Pity the manual is poor,DSG sucks all fun out of the experience and does its own thing at times, had a mk7 R good car but boring. This version looks the same.
If only theyd bring back the vr6 or go all out and try cram a v6 into it
I think I'd prefer a Civic Type R if I were driving the Nürburgring as someone who knows the turns but isn't a pro and never drove the track in person, it would help me not kill myself to be pulled around I think, especially after they flattened that one area of the track a bit. I cannot compliment Honda enough for what they can do with FWD. Not a fanboy of any brand, my sports cars have all been Toyota or Subaru.

I'm missing an extensive amount of parts in my list but you get the jist.

maybe, I've also done some I.E.T mods as well to prevent it from heat soaking drilling holes in the front to let in more air.@@Zenzak35 the FMIC did a huge difference along with the radiator upgrade. drilling holes alone dropped the temps by 5-10C before the fmic and rad were even installed. but who actual knows 💁♂, I cant ship the car over I'm not rich enough nor do i have the time or resources. road America is my closest track at about 5 hours away.
