    They have a song called Go To Sleep that I swear sounds like southern rock.

    One of my favourites from The Bends album. I don’t really listen to it much anymore, but it feels good when I do.
    I’m hoping that there’s some of Thom and Jonny’s side project, The Smile, in the queue. I saw them a month ago. I was really impressed with the drummer, Tom Skinner. He gives their work a completely different feel.

    you should really check out "life in a glasshouse" by them, it shows how much range they have. It's a fantastic jazzy closure of the album Amnesiac!

    This is actually from relatively early on in their career when their music was very rock-forward before they really started to branch out and experiment.

    • @williamdrake6711
      @williamdrake6711 Před 4 měsíci

      Early in their career? This is 10 years into their career... formed in 85 this came out in 95

    • @chrisl6735
      @chrisl6735 Před 4 měsíci +11

      Yes and almost 30 years later, I'd consider their second studio album of nine in a long career to be "relatively" early as I phrased it

      Agree with @political here. I'm an 80s kid from the UK, so being meh on RH in the late 90s/early 00s was some sort of heresy (especially as I didn't care for Blur or Oasis either). Nevertheless, The Bends album is great.

    I am thoroughly enjoying your personal evolution with Radiohead's music. They do A LOT like you said and do it well but its not always easy to digest. Im glad you appreciate their talent regardless

    Another solid track from the band’s sophomore album. The first record by them I ever got acquainted with. Bought it on CD, back in ancient times. Interesting characterization as resembling Southern rock. Not only because the group is British (Limey Skynyrd? Sorry, bad joke) but because a record-store owner I knew thought the album was like “1970s Brian Eno.” I will say the disc is much more guitar-based than what followed it. And also, that this is an HQ version is evident to me- I can hear the improved audio quality vs. the original release.

    The lynyrd skynyrd comment makes perfect sense. I was 15 when this album came out at proclaimed it to be 'the truth' and then my dad spoiled it by liking this song and telling me it reminded him of Boston more than a feeling. I still love it but it sounds heavy dated

    The Bends is kind of a yawn compared to where they took their music. It's decent... don't get me wrong... it's just... decent 90's guitar music with a few moments of brilliance. I personally would not have chosen this particular track. It just kind of meanders along and lacks the details, drama and highs and lows of their future music. I still love it though :)
