- Nothing I love more than chucking everything you need into a bag and heading off on your bike. This time we headed around Cornwall for some sun and sea and bivying :) Enjoy!

Just want to say what an inspiration you are to me. I have been watching your videos and love them all. I have taken up cycling seriously 7 weeks ago and although its tough, (I am 50), I really enjoy it. Today I had my first solo ride in the countryside and had some mighty climbs ahead of me. It was the thought of you on your climbs that got me through mine today. Thanks for giving me that inspiration.
Marion that is awesome!! Well done, yeah just get out there any enjoy it! :)
Well done Marion, lots of adventures ahead of you. Put some bike packing gear together and enjoy yourself out there. Thanks for sharing.
Wringing the very last drops from a crazy 2020 summer before the miserable long dark ... with a sea swim and ocean passage ... brilliant! Well done. Thanks for sharing your fun adventure. Hold Fast!
Always love your videos. Great scenery and lots of variety from a really special young lady. Well done Katie!
Hi Katie, another great video, good choice of location in Cornwall specially in St ives bay and lands end , I’ve been camping there before, I’ve been following your routes on your Cornwall tour on strava 👍
Thanks for the video. As a Cornishman now living in Canada it was great to see some old haunts. Mark
Some cold weather camping tips:
- a warm sleeping bag is only as good as the sleeping mat used. If the sleeping mat isn't insulated, all of the heat generated is lost through the ground. Look for a mat with an R value of 3.5 and higher. Exped do synthetic insulated inflatable mats.
- Add a silk liner bag to your sleep system which adds a few degrees of warmth but only weighs just over 100g and is very packable.
- Make sure you are warm (either hot drink or moving around) before getting into the sleeping bag. Fill a bottle with hot water and put it inside your bag can help too.
- Avoid drafts: using a tarp is tricky in cooler weather. if you feel the cold, make sure the bivvy bag is closed up as much as possible while still allowing some ventilations to reduce condensation.
Hope that helps!
Or just get a room 😊
@@markrushton1516 yep, if the weather is truly grim, being inside is a great back up but that option might not always be available . 😊 Having cooler weather sleep kit can open up some truly epic camping options too when bikepacking to more remote areas like Scottish islands or Iceland etc. Its a good option to carry Sept to Apr when overnight temps can get close to freezing, sometimes unexpectedly 😊
To be fair that first night was so cold and just needed a foil bivy too I think. The following nights as you will see were deaf different! :)
@@KatieKookaburra nice one Katie! Glad you had fun. Great videos 😊 if you ever fancy a bikepacking adventure to the Scottish Islands and need some advice on routes let me know. Would make for some great content.
Thermarest? No camping for me. 5* tastes (done that) but 1* income. Central heating/indoor plumbing all the way
Amazing to see you cycling past all the places that I grew up near 💕💕💕💕💕
Great idea Katie,it will soon be dark and miserable.I love the holiday videos.
Already know this is going to be another great video, I really wanna start bike packing too.
Lots to learn still.
Fantastic! My favorite pastime in one of my favorite counties...
Nice to see you down here in the West Country , hope the rest of stay is good , and remember to come back October is always a great month as the sea is at its warmest but bring more clothes for the evenings
Another great video Katie!! 😃
This looks awesome! I've biked a few areas in Cornwall and still discovering places
Famous last words, ‘it wasn’t meant to be this cold’ ha ha! So, next day, get a tent? I would, I hate cold nights. Thanks for the vid.
That tarp set ups pretty cool with bike holding the height!
Three go mad in Cornwall...made me chuckle all the way through!
My wife and I have just gravel biked the Devon Coast to Coast, taking in the Tarka trail, Granite way and Drakes Trail over 3 days Ilfracombe to Plymouth then retraced our way back to Ilfracombe you should try it!
all that beautiful landscapes 💚 i have an uncle living in england... maybe after all this c-stuff i should plan on visiting him and taking my bike with me 🤔
Smiles all around in this video.
Loads of fun!
have fun and enjoy your ride
Love it down there , go to Perranport every year , Spending the night in the ladies loo PRICELESS!
My favourite CZcamsr in my favourite county!! Great video and you were definitely South of Manchester 😂😂👍
Cheers Stephen! :)
Great views, looking forward to summer in Oz, slowly getting warmer with longer days down here 😎
Ahhhh I’m jealous, I want to be back there!!!
On the Goldie its always warm:)
Make the most of it Katie! I fear we'll be back in a full UK lockdown within a matter of weeks. I hope I'm wrong though..
A good way to start the day
Great video! You make me want to get on my bike!!!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful country you make it fun
0:48 와 대박이네요 타프에 폴대를 자전거를 뒤집어서 이용하다니...기가막히네요^^👍
Nooo wayyyy!!! Welcome to my neck of the woods - I wish I’d known you were down here, It would have been nice to join you for a few K’s! Yep, there’s some nasty old hills in these parts!
Ooooh them hills - on a loaded bikes - brutal! haha
Watching this from Nova Scotia. I think I need to get to the beach myself this weekend. Im blessed to live just 10 minutes away. Its a 7km bike ride.
Ahhhh I would be THERE!!! Enjoy x
Looks a great trip. You guys need to try Clovelly on the north Devon coast next time 🤪
It’s a horrible hill 😝
Where is your tarp from? Can you do a video on a few different bivvy/tarp setups?
So, was it a West country or South ?
Was following you on Strava though and expected this ferry video yesterday. But need to tell you Kay Kay that previous video was a great one. Have fun and keep inspiring. Take care. 👍👌
Hey Katie. Which bikes are your friends riding for this trip?
U lucky girl love down south hee I love looe great vlog Katie x
Looks good. I like that part of the country. A shame you can not have a real creme tea while you are there. However I think Oggies does a veggie pastie. Anyway, have a great ride. I am trying my hand at a 160k ride tomorrow, getting the last of the summer ride in.
Great way to end the summer sleeping in a giant marshmallow lol looks like a fun trip
Enjoyed the video! Keep it up :)
Thanks Joff!! :)
that looked like st Mawes you took the ferry from to falmouth? love it there!
That’s the one!! Good spot 👌🏼
Dam you make me want to go cycling down to Cornwall - and I have relatives down there, good opportunity! - although Northeast/west of England is very beautiful, just not as as good weather ;)
What's the tyre size that Katie is using?
Great vid Katie.
1.10 in "What on earths that ? 🤣
We spent out summer hols in cornwall. Have a fab time and enjoy. I think lockdown awaits us all again soon.
Travelled down from the north. Ok sansa stark 😂😂
Admit it , after eating those beans , you did a remake of 'Blazing Saddles' , in that Yurt tent !
Some steep climbs round the coast of Cornwall, hope the sun keeps shining on you.
There bloody well is! Thanks, the weather is being good to us! :)
i like the bikepacking Katie...
Me too! Something about having everything you need packed on your bike that is just so fun!
Doing a close to home, ‘trial’ bike packing trip this Saturday evening... gonna be flipping freezing
Take layers. And layers. And a few more!! :) enjoy though, so much fun!!!
That's it, I'm going bike packing soon. Are you planning to continue through some of the winter Katie?
Yeah if I can!! Maybe not in a bivy though
Fun times with pals in a beautiful setting with the sun on your back... What more do you need? 😉
Exactly! 🙂🙂
Ace video and its something i want to do 😁
Looks like so much fun! A few summers ago I did a 7 day cycling trip in Italy and the ferry ride across Lake Garda was spectacular!! Have you been there yet ?
No haven’t been there! Sounds beaut though! How long was it?
Katie we started in the Dolomites in Bolzano and each day did a different city, the ride each day was amazing and then we took the Ferry at Lake Garda to Desenzano del Guarda all the way across the Lake , it’s the largest lake in Italy.. the rooftop restaurant for breakfast had you looking out at the sunrise over the lake. There is also a Bike Guarda hotel which caters to cyclists and plans trips from there . Can’t wait to go back next summer!
nibble, nibble, gulp...downs goes the little tomato
Welcome to Cornwall! What a great day to be in St Mawes.
Did have a chuckle, I'm sure you know, Cornwall ain't flat!
Props to Greg for riding up Wood Lane (?) in Falmouth, on a loaded bike!!
Ahhh that’s the name of that climb?? It’s bloody mega isn’t it?!!
My mistake! You were still in St. Mawes at that point, had to watch again, and it's clearly signposted as 'Grove Hill'. (www.strava.com/segments/21488327 - Greg wasn't last, I checked!)
The Cornish coast is peppered with these beast climbs, short and savage, not for the faint-hearted.( or loaded bike!)
Loving that yurt tent. Whereabouts was that camp site?
It’s the YHA at Coverack :)
@@KatieKookaburra cool, will check it out!
Katie has ghost feet!! 🤣🤣 - I can't talk because I'm rockin' my Jersey/Bib tan too! Lol
They don’t see the sun unless on a beach haha
ha ha fair play for being a hardcore Bivi person.
Do you guys have a few pints along these journeys
Nah - video coming about this VERY topic next week :)
You love the sea, you love ferries... musta been a pirate in a past life! Arrrrrrrrrrrrr

St Mawes is lovely
Hello, Katie. I’m sure you’ve covered this topic before, but I’m curious if there’s a particular automobile bike rack that you favour & could recommend. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Roof, tailgate or tow bar mount?
I haven’t actually I always put my bike in the car. Too precious cargo :)
Mark Rushton tailgate
Saris bones. Not cheap. Designed
Mark Rushton thank you, Mark. I shall check it out
Bendover beach...? I hope it didn't allow nudist access :-(
You beat me to it. 😂

Waiting for Part II of this series ....already past 8 minutes

@@KatieKookaburra Noted Kay Kay, hope you guys had a great trip.
Welcome to Cornwall my home county! I saw you went through Falmouth ( that’s where I live) Hope you had a great time.
We surely did! It’s such a beaut place! Could have popped round for a socially distance brew if I had known :) next time!
So. Who snores the loudest then?
None of us, apart from Greg ONCE. Jeeeez he was a fog horn. But.... our mate Dave is the WORST !!!! haha
I literally sat by that tree that’s in the thumbnail picture less than 2months ago 😂
It’s such a bloody beaut we had to stop for pics!!! :) did you stop by that beach then?
@@KatieKookaburra Yes , unfortunately don’t have the road bike on the trip so ended up on a 10k walk around the coastal path with the family 😭🤣

Dachte es geht um Cornwall, dabei war das eine reine Selbstdarstellung... 👎🏻 Schade!
