    This is our latest modern farmhouse renovation, where we turned a tired 1930s house into an epic modern farmhouse. We have built all new ground level underneath, completely restored and renovated the existing home (which has become the top level of the house) and turned this home into a dream house. Watch for tips on “how to raise a house” / “how to raise a Queenslander” / “raise and build under”
    This particular modern farmhouse has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living areas, a pool, and four separates entertaining decks. We tried very hard to take all of the boxes in terms of creating a Modern farmhouse home that would be perfect for a very easy comfortable and relaxed lifestyle.
    We are very proud to announce that shortly after hitting the market, the home was purchased by an AFL Brisbane Lions player and his wife and they will eventually get to raise their family here and we would like to wish them many happy years here.
    Generally, a ‘raise and build under’ typically consists of seven steps...
    00:00 Intro
    02:02 Step -1: Preliminaries
    02:46 Step-2: Demolition Phase
    03:26 Step-3: The House Raise
    03:51 Quick Summary Of The Raise Process
    05:28 Side Note
    06:08 Steel Work For Pool
    07:55 Step-4: Sub Floor
    09:11 Step-5: Framing & Lockup
    13:21 Step-6: Fit-out
    15:08 Step-7: Landscaping
    The modern farmhouse trend is a timeless design trend. The style combines the clean lines and sleek finishes of modern design with the vintage feel of old elements. It’s casual and comfortable, usually with a neutral color scheme. It is a style that combines sophisticated & modern finishes with the warmth of rustic wide plank wood flooring, subway tiles, and reclaimed .. well, anything. It’s the contrast of two opposing styles that creates the overall warm, clean and classic feel. The modern farmhouse design style will stick around for many years to come.
    Hope you enjoy this modern farmhouse renovation video and now have an idea of how to raise a house into a modern house.

    Thanks for taking the effort to shoot and upload this video. Looking to do a similar project where a building is lifted and lower level is built in place. My imagination convinced me lifting a home 3 meters would be super sketchy and unsafe but after looking at the video it is apparent the cribbing is safe and secure. Even though the video is relatively short it still looks like an exhausting process - great work. The comment on the "buff and prime" and the guys reaction was hilarious. I would have reacted the same because the innuendo and real work conflict in order of operations causing mental stall. We all know you gotta prime before you buff, oh wait - depends on what we are talking about. Classic, better quit stalling and figure out how to accomplish my project. This video definitely gives inspiration. Thanks again for posting!

    This is so incredible to see Rachael, thank you so much for explaining it all. House Raising is definitely a Queensland thing. There is soooo much work gone into that beautiful home. Wow a 3.6 ceiling? So glad you put the bulkhead over the window seat, it makes it look so cosy. You really thought of everything.

    I have a very similar old house and want to demolish it and build a new house . Wondering if there was any reason for keeping and rising old house.

      Miguel Munoz hey mate, thanks so much for the message. Ummm..... A LOT😬 this one was especially pricey because it was on a sloping block & had huge amounts of retaining/earthworks/steel. If you’ve got a number in your head, I dare say double it! 😬😋

    I just start looking Queenslander. You guys did great job to covert an old single storey house to morden double storey home. Compare with build a new house, the renovation cost still cheaper? Any other reasons to keep a 100 years old house? I have no experience about renovation, hardly to make decisions to buy an old house then renovate it.

    • @FrontPorchProperties
      @FrontPorchProperties  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Henry, thnks for watching. No, it is more expensive to renovate per square metre than to build new. However, this home was character protected, so we need to keep it & work with it. Hope that helps. Thanks !

  • @ArtemisiaB
    @ArtemisiaB Před 3 lety

    Yes, the design and the final look are beautiful. But I find it *astonishing* how little respect and care is given to the established garden! Grubbing out a beautiful, mature flowering shrub - and probably more than one and other established plants and even trees, too - with a *digger* just shows how little awareness this company quite obviously has for the importance of these plants not just for people, but for all kinds of wildlife. I find it deeply offputting that in renos like these, nobody bats an eyelid at sealing much more ground, destroying beautiful gardens etc just to build yet another deck and or pool. I could appreciate your work much more if you took just a *little* time and care to assess the gardens first, figure out what is there and what can and should be saved. What must be removed should be dug up and relocated if at all possible. If you cannot be bothered to re-home plants yourselves, I am sure neighbours or others will take them off your hands no problem.
    This is the 21st century, we’re all aware of the importance of green spaces, climate change and even urban wildlife by now - even in Australia. Please do reconsider your attitude/approach to this - you’d earn the admiration of many people.
