Hey Adriana, I watch your videos to learn more about what project managers need and how I can better serve them (im in IT).
Thanks for always generously sharing your knowledge!
I have a question that hopefully you can provide some insight on.
How do you recommend someone gather these requirements? Open up a word doc on their computer and capture all the info there? Or should they share that doc with everyone and have them collaborate?
Or is it another process that im missing?
Adriana thanks so much for all the great videos including this one. Just wondering if you could do a video about leading a project or project outline for a volunteer-run project. I head a committee in a volunteer organization for a fundraiser. Perhaps you could give your take on how to plan, execute, and succeed with this type of project. Dealing with volunteers I find is a little different than when you're dealing with people who get paid for projects. Thanks for your support as all your information is Gold!
@timothystudlo. It is a little harder when you are working with people that aren't getting paid for their work, however leading any project be it a volunteer-run one or a paid project within an organization should still follow the same steps to ensure a successful outcome.

@@AdrianaGirdler We have an organisational Lessons Platform. The aim to insert key lessons into the platform from projects, so that the next time we implement a similar solution or work with that client again, the PMs can interrogate and avoid pitfalls or implement efficiencies others have already established. (I work in Tech projects and services arena). If you are not recording your lessons, you are missing an opportunity to collectively improve.
I was in a situation recently where the PM had resigned and I was brought in as a contractor to "keep things going". What I found during my discovery was that requirements were not appropriately gathered and were a complete mess e.g. no traceability, null stakeholders, etc. In fairness, the person who gathered them was not a BA or PM. Would appreciate a video on how to course correct when requirements are not clear. Also, this client was too far along in "execution" to slow down, (that was also a mess due to poor project planning) but that's another story. Secondly, I want to avoid these types of projects in the future, what should I be looking for?
