Watch "Apocalypse Now", dude
A member of this film's production company bought a copy/permission of The Doors entire music catalog. Yet the only song that we hear Jim singing in the movie was "The End," and it was used at the very beginning of the film. Some of the "native people" at Marlon Brando's Character's compound did an Acapella version of "Light My Fire.". Did you know that the studio version of "The End" was edited. The movie's sound engineer discovered a tirade of "F-Bombs" by playing with the soundboard's mixing controls. I discovered this factoid by watching one of the "Special Features" in the "Redux" DVD version of the "Apocalypse Now" movie. When The Doors made their "Greatest Hits" album, they used the "Apocalypse Now" version of "The End."
@@michaelworden9265 I think that Manzarek is the real genius and had no luck with Morrison. Morrison was not really needed for the music and sometimes Manzarek did the voice on stage... Manzarek deserved to make the sound of "Apocalypse Now" more than he deserved Morrison :)
@@vincechurch9836 Both Manzarek and Morrison were geniuses. You have to understand that the original line up had 3 Manzarek brothers on instruments. Ray played the piano and organ, the second brother played the guitar, and the third brother played bass. John Densmore was the only drummer with Jim on lead vocals and the band's lyricist. This line up recorded the Demo Record that got them their first recording contract with either CBS or Capital records. When Ray's brothers got fed up with the fact that the record label's people's failure to book them time in a recording system, they left the band. John Densmore brought a close friend Robby Krieger to become the new guitarist. The band decided to continue without a bass guitarist for their concerts after buying a piano bass for Ray to play with his left hand, while simultaneously playing the piano/organ notes with his right hand. There were numerous times over the years which saw Ray do lead vocals in concert as well. Jim was a lot smarter than you give him credit for. It is important to note the fact that Robby became Jim's writing partner in addition to his guitar playing duties. When it comes to the Apocalypse Now movie, the choice of whose lead vocals (Jim or Ray) made the final theatrical movie release was in the hands of the surviving members of the band as you tried to imply.
@@vincechurch9836 Without Jim Morrison, The Doors Band never would have existed.
