Spooky's HD: A-90 (DOORS) custom specimen mod demo

- Demonstration of a work-in-progress mod for Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion: HD Renovation that adds A-90 from DOORS as a fully-fledged custom specimen, appearing in Endless Mode as 'Unknown Specimen 90'.
To my knowledge, this is the first custom-specimen mod for SJSM:HD. While it's been stated that with the release of the Build Your Own Mansion DLC, official support for custom specimens will be implemented, considering BYOM currently has no official release timeline, I decided to attempt to do it from scratch as a passion project, out of love for both SJSM and DOORS.
If this mod sees release prior to Build Your Own Mansion, I expect I will port it to BYOM once it releases.
This mod disables submission of Endless Mode scores to the leaderboard while installed, as it alters gameplay in a manner that has the potential to affect the outcome of a run.

A-90 belongs to LightningSplash/the DOORS developers, and I have received their approval for this mod's development.
Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion belongs to the Albino Moose Games team. No original code or assets are distributed with this mod.

Dude this is AMAZING! I've always been telling people A-90 would be amazing in HD, with how in combos it would freeze everything in place, making it a think-fast specimen where you would have to be ready to start moving again as soon as he disappeared. BYOM is set to release this year or at the latest next year, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this when BYOM drops!

U-90 does not currently freeze other specimens. Doing so means considering many different factors to ensure nothing breaks, and I'm not really looking to go to that much effort until I know whether I will be able to release this.
If allowed, I plan to release this independently of BYOM on the basis of when-it's-ready, and will likely port it to BYOM when that becomes available.
@@Endimyonn I’ll answer this right now: No you will probably not be able to release this. Simply put, with BYOM finally on the horizon, it wouldn’t make sense to release it before then. As for him stopping other specimens, that should 100% be put into consideration when made into a BYOM feature. This is because in DOORS, one of the most interesting things about A-90 is that A-60 and A-120 are also forced to stop alongside A-90 until he is gone. Porting this over to BYOM shouldn’t be too hard, since the devs themselves have said people will have a lot of creative freedom with making things for BYOM.
BYOM is not a factor I'm considering as to whether this will be released.

This would totally kick ass in multi-chases! I think its face should be a little larger, and the static shouldn't block the UI.
Thanks! I've taken some time to scale the assets more properly to the size used in DOORS. Unfortunately, there are issues with how Spooky's implements its own UI that make not blocking it a considerable hurdle, so I may leave it as-is in that regard.
Could you try making Mental from SCP-087-B by the way?
I mean the masked dude who eithers jumpscares you or runs to you in hall-sized rooms.

"lights off" that Mental causes could create some good moments in an endless mode like environment.
So are you supposed to stay still when he shows up?
Yes - its behavior is exactly the same as in DOORS.

@@Endimyonn Except the doors variant is unbeatable due to lag issues, by the time any sound or visual appears on your screen the server might already have decided you are dead. But obviously a single player game shouldn't have these kinds of issues.
@@trickygamer555 🤓👆Erm, ackchually, A-90 is ran clientside to prevent any lag issues. Unless a player has a crappy keyboard with a big delay between input-response, there shouldn't be any delay.

Due to the way Spooky's divides its rooms with cuts and the overall mechanical differences between the two games, it's not a very good idea to carry Seek over. It would have to be a one-time encounter like Specimen 7 to work, and I'm not interested in doing that.
Seek is not like halt seek can be encountered 2 times in doors
