All those study helps are just that, helps. I may have missed part of your video, because I had to go in the other room, but I find a good Bible study begins with Prayer. Then the Holy Spirit enlightens things that you read. You can then use those notes and commentaries to bear witness to what you believe the Holy Spirit is teaching you. Remain the student and make Him your teacher and you will constantly be growing in the Lord. I happen to have my Bachelors in Biblical Studies, and while I learned some stuff in college, most of the imporant things I learned from my dad. Avoid putting people on pedestals. It never works out good in the end.

Sensational work as always, Kendra. It was very helpful to be able to get a peak into your process in your study of Scripture. If the Lord wills, I hope you have the opportunity to go through all of the Minor Prophets. This video series has been a blessing.

Thank you Kendra!! This video was so helpful and reassuring. The other videos I’ve seen are way too complicated or are 30+ minutes long. Your way makes it seem so easy that everyone can do. Thank you!

Have you ever done a topical study or a word study looking at all the verses where a subject is mentioned? That is so interesting. Take a subject or word like death or hell and read every verse that contains that word. A Strong's Concordance is very helpful for this type of study. It is very deep and is great for making difficult verses easier to understand. Even the difficult books like Daniel and Revelation become easy to understand. The Bible really comes alive and it even gives definations to the obscure words of the KJV.

ahh I love this so much, Kendra. We could be study buddies! I have a similar system. Thanks for sharing this. Google scholar is quite helpful too. I usually type the passage and exegesis. Also, I just realised I think I might have John’s study bible.... oh my goodness I totally forgot about it I need to check my shelves! Love you ❤️❤️❤️

I love that!! It would be so fun to study together!! Do you have multiple study bibles? I’m wanting to get an ESV study Bible as well, but I do really enjoy my John MacArthur one🥰🥰

Kendra Christine that would be super! 🥰 I only have one study bible and it’s the NIV Life Application Bible which is helpful but I tend to use my commentaries. I have quite a few on the OT and NT but as you’ve said the more commentaries, the better and I use the internet for more research 🤓

Great overview. Thank you. Have you thought of using a word processor on your lap top to take notes? The advantage would be that you could copy quotes from web sites easily and expand your notes later when you pass the same way again and want to go deeper. God bless you in your endeavours.

I would add learning to find context, read the meanings of Greek and Hebrew words including root words, use books on Bible background, learn hermeneutics, have a systematic theology and first read the Bible alone and get the meaning before going to any commentary. Make as many observations as you can make on two verses. We were taught you can make 400 observations.
There is a difference between reading what the verse says and what it means. The rule of my church is to say what scripture says.
The other true hermeneutic is the bible is the Bible's best commentary and to interpret scripture from scripture.
Remember these Bible scholars are just as sinful as you and I are. I have thick books by some of these Bible teachers and I can tell sometimes they are just winging it.
Let the word speak to you and if you hear God's voice through the scripture, you might be onto something.
