Been waiting for this review. And great to hear that it’s such an improvement over i525. Would really love to see this put up against the other best-in-category this year: T200 and MP245. I think a lot of people are looking at those clubs and would enjoy that comparison video.
Yes. Can't like this comment enough. I want to see a comparison of those clubs.
Agree, would love to see this comparison
I’ve had my set for almost a month. These irons are amazing. Can’t recommend them enough.
Great review..glad to see it out..
Ian thanks again for fitting me into these i530s..have played them several times so far..love them...still working on the right tempo for with these with graphite shafts...little different them my old steel shafts..
You guys are fantastic.ping maximises every swing Fellow golfers, buy like you , want to play in the open. I will most definitely be asking my family to consider them for me for Christmas 2024 . I don’t often ask for anything in particular, but Ping has put temptation in my way. RIP Solheim God bless Ping.
Great review guys...Thank you
Traded my i525’s in for the i530’s ….. I can not understate how much of an improvement they are
Really glad to hear Ian mention the importance of the golf ball with the iron, people tend to overlook this
I would really like to see Ian play with clubs like these for a month and compare his scores! It seems so easy with these!
this is a good test
And dialing back speed for more control. I can’t see how he needs to hit a 7i 180 yards to break par.
And with some Axiom shafts too!
I can confirm t200 feels like cheating. 190 doesn’t feel far away and I can go for 200 yard pin and not have to swing hard
Yes finally!
Actually just got a set of i525s and love them. Would be interested in trying these out
The i530’s are the first irons to get into my bag in 5 years, replacing Callaway Apex. Every year I test the new irons and for 5 years never thought anything was better, for me, than my Apex’s. Ping has knocked it out of the park with the i530’s! I also feel the same with the g430 hybrid, hands down the best hybrid I ever hit, scored my first albatross with that club, holed 2nd shot into a par 5 at 220yds with a g430 4 hybrid! Now if Ping could just get rid of those turbulators, I would game their driver! Great review Fraz and Mikey!
Hi Ian and Mike! How would you rank these four iron models in terms of forgiveness, ball speed retention across the face/ front to back shot dispersion and spin and landing angle in order hold greens and feel and control in the wedges? P790, i530, T200 and Pro 245. Great review as always! Thank you guys!!
Great video, and Mikey is right, they are miles better than the i525s especially in terms of sound and feel. I gamed the i525s and that was the one thing I did not like about them. I was apprehensive to try the i530s because of my experience with the i525s but I’m glad I did. Better turf interaction as well and a couple of extra yards and surprisingly forgiving for an iron of this size. A real home run by Ping with this set.
Wow, thank you for this video!
Im at the point in age to really start thinking about a senior set of irons. Currently playing Miura TC 201’s with 950 GH, 5 -PW. Awesome irons but a wee bit much in the 5 iron.
Would i be off base to do a Ping 530 in 5 and 6 iron and see what happens Ian and Mike??
Thanks!
I have Blueprint S up to 5 iron and was looking for an easy to launch 4 iron and tried the i530. Way too low launch and spin for my swing. Get fit for sure. Was spinning it at around 2200. Looks amazing, though. The finish on these irons has a great silver luster to it that looks super premium.
I had the same issue. as a lower spin, lower launch player with a slower swing speed, I couldn't make anything happen with them. Which was a bummer because I am a Ping fan and had money in my pocket.
Gotta see these vs the MP245 loft for loft.
Ping bringing some heat
Tried this out for the heck of it when I was testing the Blueprint S and subconsciously said “holy sh*t” after my first swing. Couldn’t believe the pop, feel and consistency. Gonna have to figure out if they’re something I can game with the lofts how they are as a guy who swings driver 118-120 mph on course but wow was I impressed.
Ended up buying these in 4 to UW after going in to get fitted for Blueprint S intending to buy 3-pw, loft range is 19 to 47 instead of 20 to 45 so the gapping is slightly wider but the ease of use and forgiveness is outstanding on i530 and the long iron offset is easily forgotten when you see an easy 4i flying 220+ carry.
Great review guys. I’m a high handicapper, just retired and looking to get back into the game with a retirement gift to myself.
Any thoughts on how these compare to the MP 245, Titleist T200 and new Apex Pro would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work! 🍺
How would you compare these to the P790s? I am really intrigued by the I530s! They look awesome!
Got mine with modus 105 love them, I went 6-pw really wish I'd went for 5 iron too
Just contact Ping and give them the serial number on the hosel , they will ship you your 5 iron built to your specs!!!
Ordered the 5-6-7 i530 to add some consistency with my i-230… still wait as there is some back order on shafts 😢
What do you think about using an i530 5 iron with 4 iron shaft length for a blueprint s 4 iron replacement?
I traded in my 525’s for the 530’s . To me a huge improvement. For me the wedge is going 125-130. So I bought more wedges 😅
Would you suggest retro to try and pull the lofts my traditional ?
Content idea: Try to Bryson spec out distances with Ian's swing speed. Woods would be tough, but fun to see irons.
It would certainly be entertaining. Low bullets everywhere. Bryson's specs only work at Bryson's speed.
Would you put these irons in the JPX923 Hot Metal category?
Would have liked to see that 4i at full speed :)
Probably not the best place to post this but any chance we could get a battle of the "HL" irons with a more moderate swing speed player (say 70 mph 7i swing speed)? Test the Smoke HL, Qi10 HL, G430 HL, JPX 923 HL
I would love to see that as well, I got fit into the JPX 923 HL about two months ago, I tried a lot of the other irons but the Mizuno worked better for accuracy and consistency, the Taylormades were longer but not nearly as accurate
How would these perform for us that have a 80 mph club head speed? Can we stop them?
Been very curious recently as to if the 4 iron from this set (or other similar ones) could work at the top end of a bag. I have a 20 degree hybrid and an 18 degree driving hybrid that I bounce back and forth with as my gap between my 4 iron and 3-wood. Driving iron isn't versitile enoungh at times, and I have a hard time hitting hybrids. I see a 19 degree 4 iron from a set like this, and it really makes my mind wonder. What would a head to head look like between say a Ping i530 4 iron and a Ping Crossover 19 degree driving iron?
Would love to see these vs the i230’s, I game the 230’s and couldn’t imagine an iron being any better
Im in total agreement I game the i230 just ridiculously good club but these with height, Spin distance they pack a punch and who would ignore a club extra distance with same numbers.
I still can't see me giving up the i230 for a while though!
I tried the i230 vs i530 at a Ping demo night. The i230 still had the goods IMO. They felt a little softer and better strike. Would love to try the i230 vs Blue Print S.
I’m a high handicapper and have the i530s - i tried the i230s and could not get hold of them consistently
I was fit into these at a club champion.. absolutely love them !!! But god all mighty you better not care about price 😂
I use ping irons and paid 350
For them :( .
@@mre_man club champion .. was just a tad over 3500 4-Gap
@@nataliedeyton6829you got taken to the cleaners.. I paid less than half that for brand new i230s last year
Canadian dollars or American?
@nataliedeyton6829 Canadian or american?..Ian recently fit me.into the i530s with accra graphite shafts..5 to utility wedge. Paid 2200 american
Sold by this review. Can’t wait to get fitted for these.
I had a set of i500 a few years ago and I absolutely hated the sound and feel of them. What have Ping done in this model to change the acoustics? The specs don't mention anything in the way of internal sound dampening - no foam or rubber inserts... So how have they made it feel and sound softer while using the same material for the face?
I get people saying loft is irrelevant with the club design, but how do you blend these irons into specialist wedges, or if avoiding specialist wedges, what does that end of the bag look like? Say you have your PW at 42degrees flying 131 yards, the UW at 47degrees flying 117yards, what lofted Vokey will slot in next to carry 105 yards at that swing speed? Would love be in interesting vid aiming to put to bed the 'jacked lofts' debate.
Always respect your opinion. What would you guys recommend, the Mizuno 245’s or these ping I 530s?
They would probably recommend getting fit...
Get, and i cant stress this enough, fitted ......
Mizunophile or Ping-a-dingaling.
It's how u see yourself
@@davidgroom9667Can’t stress THIS enough, there are a ton of us that are no where NEAR a fitter that is any good
I have my 14 year old daughter going to Ping HQ for a fitting for these tomorrow fingers crossed good results.
How did the fitting go?
@@jameshayden3928 fitting went good numbers were fantastic, she loved the sound and feel ordered and ping had them with us in 3 days.
I just purchased these with kbs 110 stiff tour vee. What ball would you recommend for this iron? I've been playing with a Taylormade Tour Response. Thinking of switching to a titleist ball. My 6iron speed avg is 86mph
If your not getting spin on the tour response , try the tp5x or prov1x it will help with giving more spin on the irons that will help with the apex
One day Ballnamic will be available in Canada…..
I’ve had mind for two weeks! Love em
Havent been up to date in the iron market in a while. Still gaming some 716 AP2s but am ready for an upgrade. If i start my search with these and the t200s am I starting in the right spot?
If I’m not mistaken, the t100s and the new t150s pretty much replaced the AP2s like you have. So you might want to check those out first.
This is classic PIng. TBH the i500 was totally out classed by the competition, Ping went away refined their ideas and came back with the i525 which was up there with the competition, and better than most. Ping was not satisfied, went away refined the concept and have delivered us the i530 which is probably the best in this product category.
As I play i210s, I am not changing but I love the look the i530s, the ball flights were great, just not convinced by the sound - would need to try them on a grass practice ground to be certain.
As for performance, very good. Sure the spin rates are a bit low, but that is mostly a function of loft and more than compensated for by the height and descent angle. Not sure I would want to play these irons in the wind or with hard summer links greens. But the performance is still the best or one of the best in this particularly club category.
They look great...Thinking of changing clubs this season from Ben Hogan PTX PROS to I530 for more distance. At 64 yrs old my distance is falling off and these maybe the ticket...thanks again for the great review.
Great Video... please review the Cleveland Zipcore XL Irons soon
I think these ping irons and the mizuno 245 will be very popular this year
how many players will go Blueprint T/S but should be in i530 ??
999/1000
Amen giving a review, you must declare any relationships with the manufacturer, otherwise, it's just a sales video
Why do they keep jacking lofts on the newer irons. Screws up my whole bag if I ever switch 😂
I would agree that we can stop complaining that the 4 iron is “really a 3 iron”. But the lofts on the other end is the issue. When your PW is 42 degrees, how many other wedges are you going to carry? 46, 50, 54, 58? Or 47, 52, 57 and just deal with the gapping issues?
That’s the problem. That gets expensive and frustrating to customize and figure out. And that’s on top of the $2000+ you’ve spent on a set of irons
Love the content, but as a viewer, the feedback when comparing new irons to the previous generation should be taken with a bit of a grain of salt.
At the end of the day, Club Champion is in the business of selling fittings and equipment so to basically say the new irons are far and away better than the previous gen is purely subjective with a touch a salesmanship.
That pw is stronger than my 9 😂
What about spin? 5200 for 7 irons is very low. Spin is control
Macgregor iron review???
would it be fair to say these irons are in the same category (and can be compared against) the Taylormade P790s?
Yes
Being PINGs...can the loft/lies be adjusted by anyone other than sending them back to PING?
Yes any local pro with a loft and lie machine
Always best to send them to Ping. The heat treatment on them allows them to be bent, but they don’t often stay.
Sound is sus… like they forgot the elastomer inside.
I didn't know Nextel was making golf clubs. There's only gonna be one i530 remembered by time. And it won't be these lol.
I was just fitted for these as my first new set since high school and my six iron jumped from 185 total yards to 236!
I found the heads way too heavy and to have too much bounce
How would you rank this vs Titleist t200 and vs Srixon zx5 mark ii. 3 to choose from.
Looks like a taylormade..
I've hit them and aesthetically I think ping got it SO wrong. The grooves don't look like they fill the face and there's a lot of real-estate on the toe side of the face that looks wrong to me.
Crazy ball speed and no spin typically isnt what a single digit handicapper wants....
Why are they so much better then i525 then explain pls ??? As your i525 vid says there amazing as well 🤷
Must sound a lot better in the studio than in video. Sounds very clicky to my ears
