I love watching Ian hit a set of blades, but the real highlight of this video for me was stripeshow Mikey putting on a ball striking clinic. The work he's putting in shows!
I went and got to hit both the S and the T, ended up falling in love with the T. I have a set of i230's, so I ordered 7-PW in the T and matched the lofts up with the i230's. The S is a monster of a club, and still in the back of my mind for a potential buy in the future.
Just finished a fitting and these were the CLEAR winner for me (with KBS tour shafts). Felt amazing off the face, and the mishits flew dead straight. Didn’t “look” like a Ping standing over the ball either. Also tried Callaway Apex, P770’s, Titleist T100, Srixon ZX and Ping was my obvious choice.
You guys are so good, thank you for the informative, detailed and honest reviews you do across all brands. Always fun to watch and always learn plenty.
Good demo of the differences between models. Not sure why you both came into the test thinking the BP-S were in the same category as the i-series. They were never intended to replace the i230, and actually replace the i59 and take many design cues from the S55. Marty J says this in interviews. The i230 is a progressive non-combo combo set with lineage from i5, i15, i20, i25, etc. Several tour pros are combo'ing the BP-S and the i230. I'll have to demo the BP-S soon, they look great and seem to have great consistency to them.
Been playing Ping clubs all my life, no sense in changing now. Glad to see they made the lofts a little more realistic Great review guys, enjoyed very much. Thanks, have a great day.
I was just fit into a set of Blueprint S irons! I am so very excited! I was blown away with the feel of them and very surprised by the forgiveness of them for what they are.
I'm currently playing a set of Maruman Conductor Pro Forged cavity backs I built up, and they have a deep and full-width undercut on the 5 and 6 iron, and it makes such a difference.
Ian is correct, these with a Miura stamp would be perfect but the Miura stamp would mean the feel is the best there is and unfortunately that’s not the case with the ping.
I own the OG Blueprints. They're going to be a couple yards short, and no one should be surprised by it. They're not that hard to hit. I only wish they'd have gone to a U / Gap Wedge now that they're at PW 45º. That said, the S159 looks lovely, and that'll be a good option.
@@xToseee Beauty! How'd you swing that deal? Think I'll be happy with my apex TCBs for a while but I'd definitely be looking into the blueprint S if not for the price
This was a very compelling and interesting demo switching between clubs for both of you. Any idea why Mikey struggles w/4i? He would seem to have enough head speed, I did not see an aoa shown, I’m guessing he just needs to work on swing to better compress ball rather than sweep it. Good winter project for you laddie😉 Would love to see more of these demoes in other lines such as Mizuno 241, 243, 245 where you’re both swinging at full lineup.
@@craigcameron6450 I somewhat disagree, then again I play 2 4-irons, at least 2 clubs labeled as 4-iron. My 25* Muira 501 4-iron and a Srixon U85 22* 4-iron. Sure I could play a hybrid but that Srixon is a comfortable 220 carry, the Miura a 205 carry. I can shape both and I’m MUCH more confident hitting iron out of rough than hybrid. Bigger issue is my spin and dispersion is FAR worse with hybrid. The U85 22* I can very consistently hit 3800 spin and hit anything from low stinger to high cut and I commonly know the carry distance with +\- 5 yds. My personal experience with a couple different 220yd carry hybrids, they often balloon to 4500 spin go left more often than I like and the dispersion is huge. Average may be 220, but I commonly would see 235 carry down to 210, all on solid strikes. The highly erratic spin would see balls ramping up in mild wind, falling short or low spin knickers flying over greens. For some hybrids work, but many of us they are too inconsistent. I play to 3.6 index, age 64.
Tried the i230 irons shortly after they came out and was not impressed by the sound and feel, especially when I thought that the original blueprints were perhaps in the top 3 all time irons for look and feel. Hopefully these S irons will feel much better than the i230
They are a nicer looking iron than the previous model. So that's a plus. I'd love to see the same review of (and then a comparison with) the 2024 Wilson Staff blades and CBs, which have been designed to blend really well aesthetically.
Yeah that's a prime comparison request, especially to see if the Ping performs well enough to justify spending over 50% more money to get them. Staffs are $1500 here, Pings are $2450.
In the store what caught my eye about them was the top down look at set up. They’re not fat up top like many others and once I saw it I couldn’t unsee it lol. Getting fit next week and if I hit em good I’m a buyer. However every time I get on a sim in a fitting I forget how to play altogether. Guy told me to buy lessons last time n not new irons 😂irons
Hey guys I'm pretty late to this one. Ping's pricing is so out-of-reach for most people. How does the Blueprint S compare directly to the Cobra King Tour, if pricing was the same? You guys put the Cobras at the top of the list against srixon, mizuno, titleists.. but are they in the same playground as these Pings, if there wasn't a 50% price difference?
After gaming i230's I think I'm done w Ping non-wood clubs for a good while, maybe forever. Such a PITA to build, required tons of extra weight in/on the heads with mid size grips. Every Ping iron/wedge I've had was like this.
I see the same “extreme?” Toe down results with irons on my quad. What are your thoughts on this. Some of these numbers are so significant that it would seem silly/impossible to bend to match. I’d love your perspective, I’ve been confused about this.
Had my eye on the S. Switched into 230 from 210’s and quickly went back. Would be unsure with a 230 combo in the long irons due to the groove difference
Not sure if Titleist dropped him or if he felt like testing other clubs. If I was a touring pro I’d have a hard time sticking with one manufacturer no matter how much they paid me. Playing different clubs keeps my interest up in the game.
A blade traditionally 34*? I can’t think of any blade being that strong unless it’s been produced the last 5 years in this era of jacked up lofts. Traditional 7 blade is 36-38*. My Miura’s are 36* w/48* PW, when I first learned the game 45 years ago in college, my Wilson Staffs and later my Orlimar’s were 38* w/50* PW
These look beautiful, but the T would be so hard to hit. I understand Wilson are replacing their Staff MB and CB irons in’24. I love to see a similar comparison for those irons.
I think I read somewhere that a blade struck in the sweet spot will perform as well as any cavity back. The problem is us amateurs don’t find that spot as often as the pros do.But nothing beats a nice blade that is a fact.
These aren’t traditional blades they have weighting to help the mishits. Got hit a traditional blade with no weighting you will 100% notice the difference
@@conraywestyeah I hit the T the other day 6 iron and out of 5 swings I never noticed them being hard to hit. I’m thinking they may be more like a t100 than a blade, or I had 5/5 good swings with a random club not fit for me

How do they compared to TC-201 in terms of forgiveness?
I really wanted to play the TC-201s, but I found them just too punishing on mis-hits. I ended up getting the Mizuno JPX 923 Tours
The "average golfer" is a 16 index and hits their 7 iron about 135-140 if they flush it, so maybe the top 10% of golfers (index = 8.0 or better)?

Why does Blueprint T have more bounce on the shorter irons than S? 13 on T and 11,5 S
I noticed that too. I'm thinking they did that to make up for the smaller sole in the T vs the S? I think there is more bounce on all of the T irons.
What advantage does the T have over the S in the shorter irons?
Nothing. Ego. That’s all.
