Purity live and human nature patreon.com/vinandsori - Hudba
I have to correct you about the backstory of purity. It's in fact a song about a kidnapped girl, and in the time Cory wrote the song he thought it was an actually a true story BUT in fact it was not, that's why it wasn't on the original record. It where the early days of the Internet, so everyone believed everything what could be found there, so it came to that Corey found this story about a girl that was buried alive, so he decided to write a song about it recorded it and released the single. A few weeks later, shortly before the album was released the author of the story showed up and sued the band for stealing his Ideas in case of plagiarism everyone was really surprised and in fact the band lost the lawsuit, had to stop selling the single, and weren't allowed to put it on the album, but they were allowed to play it live, so that's why you only could find it as live recording or B-Side for a long time. After a few years things go public domain if you don't claim to be the owner of rights so that's why they had it on the anniversary edition of the first album.
I've always loved Corey's ability to go from guttural to a clean and nice singing voice. Thanks guys! Nice job again.
Doing what you love for money isn't selling out. Playing music you're totally against playing for more money does. Metal bands playing pop punk. That's selling out
Nick Long There was a Devin Townsend joke album about a death metal band who broke a string on stage and played a pop punk song on stage and sold out haha
I have a lot of fear for 25
My interpretation of the chorus line "You all stare but you'll never see there's something inside me" is a bit different than yours. I always took it as Purity herself saying that, as a reference to the hole she was in, and how countless people could walk by, drive by, and see it, and not know that she was under that earth they were looking at.
Whoa! !!!!
According to corey taylor in a interview it's about a girl in a box and he or someone does "stuff" to her in his basement
I think Vin nailed it.... this is a quote from Corey..... "Can you imagine a girl being buried in a box and having all this lecherous bulls--t drip down on her from this guy? And thinking that there is hope, because this kid is taking some bizarre note to this guy he doesn't even know - thinking that you are holding on to the shirt of hope - and you wake up and you're dead, you're buried in mud - they find the note about a week later shoved in a library book. It just hurts your head, it's a case of what is good and bad in people. The box alone is reason enough to be like, 'I cant stand to be f--king human.' What is inside of us that is so f--king wrong? He had written quotes from Edgar Allen Poe and lots of f--ked up things on the box."
@@michaelfarrell6351 Something like Pandora's box maybe?
There are certain things about ourselves that we don't trust to reveal to others out of fear that they'll abuse us because of it.
You give us free reactions! You are not sellouts!!!
I hear you bro!
Apparently the reason it wasn't on the album was because the author of the original article the lead singer read said that the girl was actually fictional and tried to get them for a copyright infringement thing. I guess it got cleared up because the song was included when they rereleased their first album.
The end where Corey says "have you ever seen God" is a reference to the prelude to this song, called Frail Limb Nursery. It's literally written as Purity talking to the listener and makes the song that much more chilling.
Also, I just want to say that you guys are awesome. The two of you are very intelligent, open-minded people with great taste in music and movies, capable of great conversation. Thank you for doing what you do.
Thank you!
I absolutely love this channel and I can't wait for u guys to upload! U guys are awesome!
Great video guys. Really honest and fun, as always.

Hell yeah! I've been waiting for this song to be reacted to for a while 🤘🏻
Seen them so many times in concert. First time I saw them was in Boston in 99 at a show called y2 chaos with fear factory and biohazard. They blew me away and never looked back. Always will be a huge fan . Great reaction. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this video! You guys did this video on my birthday (June 5th) so thanks for that present! :)
I was so excited when I saw this video!! Couldn't wait to get off work to watch!! Lol 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Just discovered your channel 2 days ago😁. Keep up the good work.
Love you guys!
Dime gets a dime 😉😉 loved it 🤟
love that you loved this song \m/.
Over the years I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve watched this performance when the riff kicks in. The fire and Clown headbanging on the drums. So epic.
You 2 are badd a** I truly enjoyed watching this video.
Dimmu Borgir - Serpentine Offering
Me and that man (any song)
Demon Hunter - Storm the Gates of Hell
Impending doom - Death. ascension. resurrection
Johnathan Davis - What it is
Devin Townsend - Stormbending
King 810 - Trauma Model
This is my second favorite slipknot song im new to the channel and i already love it
Haha yeah! Awesome video guys!
i NEED to see these guys on a tour where they are headlining....such amazing showmen.
They unfortunately died in 2003
story of Purity Knight was fictional, and the song is written about her fictional case, i think law enforcement used this case as a study or something like that (or this is was just a true crime story made for fun). the author of the story sued slipknot for copyright, and slipknot had to remove the song on the second pressing, first pressing had the song on it. and as far as i know the the song was on all European releases, its definitely on my copy.
B Nice I was about to comment to make sure they knew that the story was fiction. Well done brother.
May be fiction, but it does happen to other girls . Katie Lunsford, an 8 year old girl here in Florida, was buried alive years ago.
nick ciccaglione Oh I'm sure my friend. I wasn't trying to imply it never haopens. Just that this particular instance was fiction. There are some sick SOB's out there!
B Nice I had the copy as well. Was the normal CD for me.
It was on early American releases. I have one copy and a second case but no CD for that one. I useto work with the bass player for Story of the Year. Thats how I got mine. Early to mid 1999.
I joined the village 😀 love the videos 💙✌️🤟
you guys are great!!! love it
Appreciate you my man !
Omg omg omg yesssss!! . . Couldn't click on this fast enough!! . . Been waiting for this one! 🖤
I do want to correct one thing you said Vin. . . This song was on the original release of the album. I have it :) They re-released the album with 'Me Inside' in its place after the lawsuit.
Ohhhhhh so I never had the original????? 🧐🧐🧐🧐
I was lucky enough to get the original copy in 2000 with Purity on it. Probably my favorite Slipknot album except Iowa is also right up there with it.
One of my all time favourites
Y’all really should react to this whole show he sounds amazing, arguably his best vocals after 2000
I have seen these guys three times and have never been disappointed. Every time I was in the middle of the pit front row. Insane energy from all the guys.
Bad Wolves guys seriously put it on your list. “Remember When” is the newest and no one of concern has reacted yet. I guarantee you will enjoy
They put on the best live show you will ever see in your life🤟🤟
Back here again in 2021.
This London show went so hard.
Love this song. I never really understood it until you guys went into depth about it.
Thanks man!
This is the 4th time watching Your reaction to this video lol Corey is genius with his metaphors, the melody goes hard as well! I would love to see yall react to my plague live from London 2002! I haven't seen alot of reactions for this song. Sincerely, Malibu from the F.L.A.❤
awesome reaction again!!! this or dynamo the best live performance sound imo.. glad u reacted to this.. u can actually find the whole concert on youtube.. idk if u could react to the whole concert? i would watch the s... out of that hehe :D
DIME GETS A DIME
i love you guys so much :)
This is my jam right here . This song was released on the first CD but only the first pressing as I have a copy of the CD with it and a second copy without the song
awsome video
Watching you two headbang had made me headbang even more
You two laughing together is the cutest thing. Lol.
I was lucky enough to buy the first version of the cd with purity on it. One of my favorite songs.
Still have the one and only copy I ever bought of the original album on CD from 1999 with "Frail Limb Nursery" & segues into "Purity"... one of my grails!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your comment about the capabilities of human nature, and the fascination with it, is basically what I was trying to get at in my comment on the ghost video, I was having trouble trying to articulate it, but you said it perfectly. Horror movies, true crime, metal with violent or dark lyrics, it’s the same concept me.. it’s not a celebration of the actions, or what’s being depicted or portrayed, it’s the weird fascination we all have with the darker capabilities of human beings. It’s the same reason why all our moms watched unsolved mysteries, and read crime novels when we were growing up. “Without the darkness, the light can’t exist.”
In Croatia we have a band, Cold Snap (great band btw check it out), and they always do free concerts when performing locally.
Also, mad props for choosing the London video for this reaction. That’s known as one of their best shows in their career.
Kudos for the Frailty mention, Vin. A definite forgotten classic.
Holy shit this concert looks insane I could only imagine what it was like being there
Frailty has one of the coolest endings ever! Could yall react to Meshuggah "do not look down?"....also vin "enemy of the state" is a song on a collaboration CD by roadrunner records....great album actually......
\m/ village \m/
As I lay dying nothing left and sound of truth!
no matter how many times I see this performance, it will always make my hair stand on end
Erra - Skyline
I feel you'd truly appreciate this song and its meaning. One of my favorite bands they don't define themselves as a Christian band but a band of ppl who happen to be christian and spread a good message. Being As An Ocean - Death's Black Wing. They speak on alot of stuff you touched on in this video. They've helped me through my troubled times and pushed me to grow as a person.
Spit it out Live at download 2009! pls its their best "Jump the F*** up" ever.
Link!
Fo' Sure! czcams.com/video/ci0zMrrXWhM/video.html
always give a way and aleast one ep every now and a again keep fans interested its publicity
wow, can't believe you guys did a reaction on this song. Awesome. You might be the only ones who have.
Appreciate that !
My god I would love having a conversation with both of you for 12 hours straigh! So intelligent and interesting conversation!!!
Volbeat - Still Counting
Purity live 2000 at dynamo is INSANE!
Rotting Christ- (666): If you ever do this song you're going to want the English translation, being that's it's in Greek :)
Gonna do the 'please do Amorphis' dance again!! PLEASE DO AMORPHIS!!!!
Thanks a lot enjoyed it
Very Underrated song
I still remember being like 8th or 9th grade and seing a Slipknot CD in my local Library and I was like awesome and I was gonna rent it only if it had my only song I knew of them ATM which was Sulfur and it had it so I took it home and bam! Thanks to that CD I'm the metalhead I am today and Purity is one of my top Favorite songs of Slipknot
I am now 21 ;)
Purity is my #1 of all the time from Slipknot! 🤘🏻
this is a great song really reminds me of what the joker said in the dark knight when he talks about human nature and society, where he talks about their morals and code is a bad joke dropped at the first sign of trouble, their only as good as the world allows them to be, and when the chips are down these civilised people will eat each other, I know its a film but just reminded me, this is a great song though
the joker walks a Path of fanatical Nihilism he's more dark than average bat man viewers think im sure folks in the DC crowed know of course
I have both versions of the original album. one with purity and one without. its an amazing song
Sori you look like an actress I've seen in a few shows. Can't remember the name though.
One more for you Vin...Dime get a dime!!!
Boom!
Great reaction guys. I would recommend Dissection Black Dragon or God of Forbidden Light.
Dime gets a Dime, I need to try Vin's method of getting ready for a show. I think before I see Wintersun and Ne Obliviscaris I'll do my usual prep and make sure I have all the songs memorized, but then cold turkey for a month before. Just to see if it heightens the experience! Interesting idea!
Speaking of that Vin/Sori are you guys gonna try and see Ne O (and Wintersun) live on their USA tour?
Yes we are trying !
Fuck yeah. Live versions
The song was indeed on the first run of their debut. I happen to own a copy (I got it the day of release). Subsequent shipments were missing the song until the court case was dismissed in the mid-2000's.
One of my precious belongings, a first press copy of the Self-titled album that has Purity.
Dime gets a dime... Hell yeah!
You should’ve done the frail limb nursery version of this song. It explains a lot and gives off a super creepy vibe I love it. Suggest you check it out.
I was in that gig.... first ever metal gig.
I love your channel. have you ever listened to the forest seasons album by wintersun. it is amazing. it is their take on the four seasons.
Awesome review guys as always.
Amon Amarth - Under the Northern Star 😉
DIME GETS A DIME!! 🤘🤘
Of all the Amon Amarth songs that are usually recommended, I have never seen this one - but this one is GREAT. Would love seeing this.
Hell yeah man. From one of their greatest albums no less. The song is a very unique one. Skål!
One of my favourites been suggesting this song for about 2weeks now 😉 also i have started a sing a long comment thread in the community section of the Village 🤘LET'S RAID THE VILLAGE 🤘song is "Death in Fire"
Great idea hehe
Death In Fire is a classic... Bringing the wrath of the Northmen into this place can bring up a lot of good discussions indeed.
squashedeyeball that's my plan LET THE RAID BEGIN🤘🤘
Dime gets a dime!
I'd be really interested to hear your conversation on "Free the Three" by the band ZAO. They're an older band, one of the first metal bands I really got into way back in the day. Interesting topic that could initiate a lot of interesting conversation.
Keep it up guys, love hearing the conversations on all of these songs. You guys have sort of become part of my daily routine haha.
Rammstein, Mushroomhead, Sabaton, Blue oyster cult, Children of bodom, Ghost's new album
Not Ghost 's first album?
They don't seem to like ghost which is a tragedy
Check out Soilwork. They are a Swedish melodic death metal band that helped form The Gothenburg sound along with In Flames, At The Gates, and Arch Enemy. The singer Björn is an incredible vocalist with amazing range. I love all of their work so it’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but check out Spectrum of Eternity off their Living Infinite album. It’ll give you a good idea of what they’re all about. I think you’ll really enjoy it as we have an almost identical taste in music.
Hey guys, I had a thought regarding your upcoming Pink Floyd reaction. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are both very short albums. In fact, the length of both albums combined is only 3 minutes longer than the whole Lateralus album. Maybe do the Village a solid and do both albums back to back?! I know it's a BIG ask but we'll appreciate it! Much love - AT :)
Hmmmmmmmmm
That is not a terrible idea at all. I wanna see them watch the entire Live at Pompeii DVD.
Ayeew Tasko I would love that!!
That song makes me appreciate "Pulse Of The Maggots" lyrics more...but it was my favorite already.
I still have the original release of the first album with purity :)
Purity may have been taken off on a re released album but it was definitely on the original pressing I still have that album and was listening to it just the other day.
Would be so awesome if you could react to Impending Doom - My Blood. Would love to see what you two think of it.
Don't know how I missed this one I said to do this song on your last Slipknot review. Was on my original album. Wasn't on the second pressing of the album. Ahh It's not the same with out the "Frail Limb Nursery" intro.. kinda sets the tone for a sick song..
You should check out "the promise"by in this moment, it's an amazing duet (like the 2 of you) but in the bridge there's this duel scream that will send chills down your spine
Left Behind next!!!
You should've played the song's intro frail limb nursery, its a recording of Purity speaking to a kid who found her buried in the ground. She was able to talk to him through a hole which was made for her to get oxygen.
Sori is so beautyful😍
the way you explained that shit. Now Imma be paranoid af. When I walk in the store I'm probably gonna look at an old lady saying I got my eye on you! Purity!
It was on the 1st release but had to be taken off because they got sued. They won the lawsuit and put it back on the 10th anniversary edition FYI
Exploring the darkness of humanity - it's what metal is all about! Endlessly fascinating in my opinion! Studies have also show that metal fans are less violent than fans of other types of music so enjoying 'disturbing' art seems to be very cathartic
Fun fact, That song was originally called Despise before it was changed to Purity. One of Slipknots greatest songs.
gently from the same live show was lit
It would be awesome if you guyswould react to the Agony scene - hand of the divine :)
Lol!! I don't listen to the bands albums before their shows either I also never wear their merch to their shows! I wear another bands. My rituals for concerts anyways!!
And this is my favorite video of Purity!! And my favorite live release of any band ever! Pure energy with this release!!
