    Thank you for sharing! I have chinchillas. 6 of them. And buying stuff for them gets expensive. When I’m reality I can make it for so much cheaper. That Hammock would cost me a dollar at most to make. Compared to stores selling it for 25. And I make wooden ledges for about 3 when stores sell Then for 20.

    So cute! I have one question though. You said right sides of fabric facing each other so essentially the ferret will be sleeping on the wrong side? Just making sure 😊

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před rokem

      Thank you so much for bringing that to my attention, I didn’t realize I said it wrong until now 🤦‍♀️, but you are correct, I should have said to put the wrong sides of the fabric facing each other.
      I’m so use to saying it the other way when I do regular sewing tutorials because after you sew it you flip the fabric right sides out. I’m gonna ry to redo this tutorial so it is correct.

    Just an idea: You could also make the bottom piece of fleece a bit bigger and then cut a hole in the top so that the critters could snuggle down in there!

    Instead of the black strips could one use twine or a thick yarn ect...?

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 10 měsíci

      You definitely could, I would just keep an eye on it to make sure your babies don’t try to chew it, although some pets, especially rats and chinchillas will try to chew fleece too. It all depends on the individual animal, but yarn or twine would definitely work if it was thick enough 😊

    I tried this for my guinea pigs, and I hanged it up with carabiner clips, but it wouldn’t hold the piggies up and just sunk to the ground. Do you know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks so much!!!

    Did you use fleece blanket or just fabric I tried making one and it didn't go over very well lol

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety

      I used fleece fabric, but cutting up a fleece blanket should be the same. How far apart did you make the holes? I know for me, I have made the holes to far apart before and it made it turn out kind of weird 😂, but the sides curl up no matter how you space out the holes, fleece is a bit stretchy on the “wrong” side and it tends to cause the edges to roll in.

    • @miccadickson4413
      @miccadickson4413 Před 2 lety

      @@FerretTails yes I think I made it too far apart lol and maybe too small lol and I think I make the strip too long cuz it does stretch alot

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety

      @@miccadickson4413 fleece will also stretch more in one direction than the other, if that makes sense. If you pull with both hands on the sides you will be able to tell which sides are stretchy and then cut the strips from the non-stretchy side, or you can always cut off the excess fleece at the end. I probably should have mentioned the stretchy part in the video 🤦‍♀️

    What are the hooks called

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 2 lety

      They are shower curtain hooks. Their perfect for hammocks like this or hammocks that have grommets instead of straps. You can get them at Walmart, Lowes, Amazon and probably some other places. These are the ones I used for this hammock used shower curtain hooks to hang it. amzn.to/3lLURfL

    What type of cage is it, and how much did it cost you?

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  Před 3 lety

      It’s a Double Critter Nation, it works great for ferrets, but if possible I would try to get the Ferret Nation. Both the ferret and critter nation are pretty much the same except the space between the bars of the ferret nation is wider than the spacing between the bars of the critter nation and the bars on a ferret nation are vertical, so the ferrets can’t climb it!!! The double cage cost about $250 and you can get it from Amazon. The nation cages are made by MidWest. Heres a link to the double ferret nation: www.amazon.com/dp/B0054U8UGW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_CGlUFbVVABJ4B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

      Hi, they are technically shower curtain hooks, but they work great for hammocks. I attached a link to them. Sometimes you can get them at Walmart but often they’re sold out. amzn.to/3B9ELDd
      I have also used mini carabiners. You can definitely get those at Walmart. You get two them for around a dollar. There in the hardware section but I also add a link to see you can see what they look like. amzn.to/3HNetJy
