    Disingenuous carnist using the "culture" argument - the cognitive dissonance is strong in that one ...
    Actually defended FGM - what the hell ????

    • @roylewis2708
      @roylewis2708 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Culture is a fact of our different lives and a basis of our morality which is subjective to those cultures, in much the same way as religion is culturally based. You cannot dismiss it as cognitive bias. Nor can anyone avoid supporting harm to animals in our modern society, no matter the culture or ideology.

    • @veganpowerlab
      @veganpowerlab  Před 4 měsíci +5

      It appears like he defended that. It’s weird how many atrocities people defend just to avoid responsibility

    • @roylewis2708
      @roylewis2708 Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@veganpowerlab Avoiding responsibility is what we all do when it suits us or when we feel the subject is too faraway from our personal reality. Slavery was mentioned by yourself as something from the past that is no longer accepted, yet there are 80 million slaves in the world today. Someone is accepting it and someone is avoiding responsibility. Apparently most of those slaves are used in rice and soy agriculture production. Reality sucks the juice out of most arguments that depend on emotional responses. Which is why we fail to recognise that everyone supports animal harm.

    • @veganpowerlab
      @veganpowerlab  Před 4 měsíci +4

      @@roylewis2708 Show me empirical evidence for your claim that there are 80 million slaves and that most of them are used for the production of rice and soy

    • @roylewis2708
      @roylewis2708 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@veganpowerlab There are several sources you can find on the internet. perhaps 50 million is a closer figure but obviously these are difficult to define.Cotton and other agricultural industries seem to absorb a great number and in particular rice. Soy and palm oil also mentioned. It is irrelevant the quantity or numbers.It exists and that should be enough to make the point which is not particular to my comments, although talking like slavery does not exist is relevant.

    Idea, maybe for one of your Livestreams, play Would You Rather with Vegans.
    I think there is so much interesting discussion that can come out of all of these questions.
    I really think there is something up with people who pick the well fed farm animal option.
    It seems like something you would pick...it you want no agency in your life and just want to be another brick in the wall.
    The elites love obedient servants like this who dont question the system....hmm.

      Indeed. I think it’s more that they were conditioned to accept this.
      Lately, it’s been clearer and clearer to me that conditioning is one of the biggest problems when outreaching.
      Yes, people say a lot of things, but in truth, it’s their conditioning that is holding them back. Or so it seems to me

    • @djcat64
      @djcat64 Před 4 měsíci +1

      People are acting when they bring up taste.
      It's usually they are too self centred to even try the simplest thing to change, even if they are going against their own morals if they continue to kill animals for the hell of it.

      @@veganpowerlab I agree, and they're beautiful too.
      I sometimes watch videos with a Scottish chap who's a great trimmer. He works on mainly dairy farms in Scotland. So many of his followers simply love those "happy cows". They're stuck in concrete and iron jungles most of the year, but people truly believe, that what they see is fine.
      The hoof trimmer does great work, but that doesn't erase the fact, that those poor cows are being badly exploited.
      A few times I've commented on the very sad and short lives, that the cows live, but those comments are ignored.
      People want to live happily disconnected from the truth.

      Not convinced "peaceful" helps either, rather discussing within the contexts of reality with critical thinking and avoiding emotional arm twisting might be more productive. Unfortunately, the "street vegan" looses his audience when using emotional blackmail and his "facts" become meaningless, especially in today's society.
